This project began with the idea of making a book of portraits and bios of each of the grandmothers. We recorded the interviews for the purpose of having notes. While the book is still in progress we decided, especially during these hard times, it would be wonderful to hear these ladies in their own voice.
This episode we hear from Mrs. Dorthy Vidrine, Mrs. Velma Marx and Mrs. Sherry Fruge about how they met their husbands and raised their kids.
Ma Chère Maw-Maw: Documenting Cajun & Creole Grandmothers of South Louisiana started as a book idea. While the book is still in progress we decided that the audio captured from our visits with these ladies was something we should share. These are amazing women with so much to share.
