In episode 2 of The Track Speed Podcast, I discuss a few theories of skill acquisition and motor learning, native to track and field performance progression. I also talk about the importance of competition and meeting benchmarks throughout your training year. For a short segment, we compare the lifestyles of students vs professional track athletes, and address the impact that each dynamic may have on an athlete's performance. Lastly, in era where information is so much more accessible to the athletes independently, there still lies the necessity for the role of coaches in the physical and cognitive development of young athletes.
