We're diving headfirst into another round of our Main Street Magic Mailbag: Listener Q&A — one of our favorite series because we truly never know what questions are coming. They're funny, thoughtful, surprising, and sometimes just delightfully odd… which makes them perfect. We kick things off with a question about the biggest Disney purchase we regret. We break down the decisions we would absolutely not make again. Next up, we get hit with a brutal “Would you rather?” dilemma: Would you rather never try new Disney foods and drinks again, or never try new attractions? It's the kind of question that makes you choose between your taste buds and your thrill-seeking heart. We also chat about how we'd redesign an attraction queue to make it more interactive, and we come up with a few ideas that would turn waiting in line into part of the fun. From there, the holiday spirit sneaks in with a whimsical question about which job we'd choose if we worked in Santa's workshop. Would we be toymakers, bakers, reindeer wranglers, or something even more chaotic? We break down the roles that fit us and the roles that would absolutely backfire. We also explore what it would be like to spend Christmas in a Disney movie universe. With so many magical worlds to choose from — animated, live-action, wintery, colorful — we debate where we'd want to celebrate the season. Then, a big one: What must-do experiences should first-time visitors, especially kids around 8 and 11, absolutely not miss? We cover attractions, shows, character moments, and little magical touches that make a first visit unforgettable. We also squeeze in a mini conversation about iconic Disney shirts and how quickly they become conversation starters.Next, we look at the top items still lingering on our Disney bucket list — the experiences we haven't crossed off yet but can't wait to someday. Finally, we wrap things up with a delicious question: What type of new food booth would we add to EPCOT's Food & Wine Festival? We dream up flavors, themes, and creative menu ideas we'd love to see join the festival lineup. It's a fun, lively, listener-fueled episode filled with Disney talk, holiday vibes, park tips, food dreams, and plenty of laughs. Grab your headphones and enjoy another round of Main Street Magic Mailbag!

Story of the Week (DR):Walmart CEO Doug McMillon to retire in January and US operations chief John Furner will take over MMOn February 1, 2026, Mr. McMillon will continue in his capacity as an executive officer of the Company, he will report to the Chairman of the Board of Directors and he will continue to be employed as an associate of the Company through January 31, 2027. Mr. McMillon will also continue his service as a director on the Board until the June 2026 Annual Shareholders' MeetingJohn Furner, 51, a longtime insider and head of Walmart's U.S. operations, will take over. Furner, who started with the company in 1993, has more than 30 years in a variety of leadership roles across all three of Walmart's operating segments, including six years as the head of Walmart's U.S. business.Walmart Announces John Furner as President and Chief Executive Officer and DirectorGreg Penner still chair: Greg is only the third person, after his father-in-law, Rob Walton, and company founder, Sam Walton, to serve in this position.Doug's quotes on stakeholder capitalism:"We simply won't be here if we don't take care of the very things that allow us to exist: our associates, customers, suppliers, and the planet. That's not up for debate.""I think the growing interest in stakeholder capitalism stems from companies genuinely invested in doing good for our world, because it's the right thing to do and because businesses who take this approach are stronger.""Big problems don't rest on the shoulders of government or corporations alone... We need to reinvent capitalism.""Retailers will only survive if their business creates shared value that benefits shareholders and society... Basically, we'll design retail and other businesses so that all stakeholders (as many as possible) benefit: customers, associates/employees, shareholders, the communities we serve, and those in the supply chain."Under McMillon's leadership, Walmart has grown both top-line sales and profits. Its stock price is up 400% over the last decade. McMillon also led significant investments in both technology and labor, which are paying off for the company.Let women (or a black woman) do the work: Compensation Committee, led by chair Carla Harris and Marissa Mayer, are in control of succession planningJapan's Takaichi Says Firms Focusing Too Much on ShareholdersPrime Minister Sanae Takaichi: “I think there has been a trend of too much focus on shareholders. I will revise the corporate governance code to encourage companies to appropriately distribute resources not just to shareholders but to employees.”Takaichi added that she considered the excessive hoarding of capital by firms to be a problem, and said she wanted firms to effectively use it to invest in people including through wage hikes: “I would like to see firms conduct business not just thinking about clients, but also considering their contribution to the broader society.”Disney ditches 'diversity' and 'DEI' in business report for the first time since 2019In the company's 2025 Form 10-K filed after its recent Q4 meeting, the words "diversity," "inclusion," "DEI" or "diversity, equity and inclusion," appeared zero times. While the term "equity" appeared about 130 times, it was only used in a financial context.By contrast, the company's 2024 SEC filing included a dedicated section on diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI)."Our DEI objectives are to build and sustain teams that reflect the life experiences of our audiences, while employing and supporting a diverse array of voices in our creative and production teams," the 2024 report read.Initiatives under that DEI section included programs to engage "creative executives from underrepresented backgrounds" and "over 100 employee-led groups which represent and support the diverse communities that make up our global workforce."Earlier this year, Disney also removed two of its DEI programs, "Reimagine Tomorrow" and "The Disney Look," from its 2024 SEC 10-K report. The "Reimagine Tomorrow" program came under scrutiny after a 2022 meeting the program hosted featured a Disney executive touting her "not-at-all-secret gay agenda."A few other Disney headlines this week:Disney CEO Bob Iger wants people to use AI to make their own content for Disney+Disney is losing millions a day in its fight with YouTube TVDisney's CEO Sequel Isn't Having a Hollywood EndingActivist investor pushes Cracker Barrel shareholders to oust DEI specialistActivist investor Sardar Biglari intensified his campaign against Cracker Barrel's leadership, urging shareholders to vote against CEO Julie Felss Masino and board member Gilbert Dávila in the company's upcoming annual meeting. Two major proxy advisory firms, Institutional Shareholder Services (ISS) and Glass Lewis, also urged shareholders to vote against one or more Cracker Barrel directors over concerns about performance and the company's controversial August rebrand.ISS and Glass Lewis advised shareholders to vote against Dávila, a marketing and diversity specialist who serves as the chair of the compensation committee. Natasha is joined by Dr. Lisa Diamond and Dr. Scout on this episode of the Natasha Helfer Podcast. This is a powerful episode as, in Lisa's words: "Scout and I have witnessed the entire birth and now destruction of the field of queer and trans mental and physical health (Scout is 60, I'm 54), so we have lived through this whole weird arc of seeing lgbtq health become a legitimate profession, and now it's being threatened—it's both personally and professionally devastating for both of us to witness this happening. "It is astounding that at a time when we recently survived a global pandemic that left so many people feeling isolated in ways that has profoundly affected our mental and physical health… and at a time when we have very clear data on the risk of suicide and lessened wellbeing for the LGBTQI+ community due to societal discrimination… that the government is choosing to dismantle and destroy so many departments/entities meant to support the health, science and data collection of ALL Americans." Dr. Diamond and Dr. Scout have created a survey for anyone affected by the current administration. Please consider filling it out. "We launched the study with zero funding, it's driven by pure love and panic, and it's affecting EVERYONE who loves or works with queer or trans people, including family members, friends, social workers, physicians, school, teachers, therapist, educators, EVERYONE. All of us are going through something, and we are going through this at the same time that the federal government has CEASED all data collection on our health. So Scout and I figured "OK, you don't wanna do this? We're just gonna have to do it ourselves." Go here to fill out the survey: https://csbsutah.co1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_9WyKRPONJuL67Yy?fbclid=IwY2xjawOEdthleHRuA2FlbQIxMABicmlkETFoOW43aDJMdnNGb1kwSThZc3J0YwZhcHBfaWQQMjIyMDM5MTc4ODIwMDg5MgABHkWvMqhUx7OYFY_0kbvt2yVu911j1Ch5DAnsBloLDDgUw1CHSZ3BRNwBhq3A_aem_2e27bX8Xk_kP7utbPv482g Also, if you're an organization that would like to partner with this project reach out to: research@cancer-network.com From Natasha: I loved Lisa's reminder that we survive oppression and destruction through connection. This is a small thing we can do to make a difference and that in of itself is healing and empowering. Please take the 20-25 minutes to fill out this survey. And please forward it to anyone you know who is impacted. Scout, PhD (they/he) is the Executive Director of the National LGBTQI+ Cancer Network and the principal investigator of both the CDC-funded LGBTQI+ tobacco-related cancer disparity network and Out: The National Cancer Survey. They spend much of their time providing technical assistance for tobacco and cancer focusing agencies expanding their reach and engagement with LGBTQI+ populations. Scout has a long history in health policy analysis and a particular interest in ensuring research and surveillance activities include LGBTQI+ people. They have faculty appointments at Dartmouth Cancer Center and Boston University's school of public health. They are a member of FDA's Tobacco Products Scientific Advisory Committee, on the Advisory Panel for NIH's All of Us initiative, and a former member of NIH Council of Councils as well as former Co-Chair of the NIH Sexual and Gender Minority Research Office Work Group. Their work has won them recognition from the U.S. House of Representatives, two state governments, and many city governments. Scout is an openly nonbinary and trans father of three, an avid hiker, and is currently training for the aptly named Dopey Challenge races at Disney. Lisa M. Diamond, Ph.D., is a Distinguished Professor of Psychology and Gender Studies at the University of Utah and a past president of the International Academy for Sex Research. For nearly 30 years, she has studied gender and sexuality across the lifespan, with current work centered on social safety and its impact on the health and well-being of LGBTQ+ individuals. Dr. Diamond is internationally recognized for her pioneering research on sexual fluidity, including her award-winning book Sexual Fluidity (Harvard University Press). She co-edited the first APA Handbook of Sexuality and Psychology, is a fellow of two APA divisions, and has published over 150 scholarly works. Her research has been supported by major national foundations, and she has delivered more than 200 invited talks worldwide, including a TED Talk with over 700,000 views. — Join Natasha February 11-17th 2026 on a cruise leaving out of Tampa, Florida. This week on Another Pass, Sam and Case are joined by Erin Callahan to dig into Paul Thomas Anderson's sprawling emotional epic, Magnolia. We talk about intersecting lives, the weight of coincidence, and whether a few small edits could make this frog-filled fever dream even more powerful. #AnotherPass #Magnolia #PTAnderson #MoviePodcast #FilmDiscussion Another Pass Full Episode Originally aired: November 14, 2025 Music by Vin Macri and Matt Brogan Podcast Edited by Sophia Ricciardi Certain Point Of View is a podcast network brining you all sorts of nerdy goodness! Overview of the podcast's goal of analyzing fascinating but flawed movies and discussing 'Magnolia' by Paul Thomas Anderson. Film Reception and Initial Impressions (02:47 - 06:41) Discussion on the film's commercial performance (barely recouped budget). Observations on how the interconnected plotlines initially seem scattered but progressively reveal ties. Personal Reactions and Character Complexity (06:41 - 09:43) Sam expresses strong dislike for the film, citing an emotional aversion to nearly all characters except the frogs. Recognition of standout performances by William H. Macy and Philip Seymour Hoffman despite overall dislike. Overview of Film Narrative and Themes (09:43 - 19:46) Aaron explains the ensemble format, interconnected stories set in San Fernando Valley culminating in a biblical-style frog plague. Major theme identified: dysfunctional relationships between parents and children. Cops and Authority Portrayal (19:46 - 29:25) John C. Reilly's character depicted as a well-meaning but incompetent cop, demonstrating systemic failures in law enforcement. The film's critical stance towards police, contrasting with mainstream media depictions at the time. Character Analysis: Donnie and Stanley (29:25 - 39:23) William H. Macy's character as a former quiz boy who symbolizes a lost potential and relatability to gifted child experience. Debate on whether his storyline is essential or expendable in a trimmed-down version of the film. Entertainment Moguls and Their Families (39:23 - 49:49) Comparison of Earl Partridge and Jimmy Gator as similar figures of industry power who have harmed their children and spouses. Tom Cruise's Frank T.J. Mackey characterized as a 'manosphere' guru shaped by family trauma. Claudia and Themes of Control and Addiction (49:49 - 59:40) Claudia viewed as a victim of parental control, drug addiction, and neglect juxtaposed with her father's manipulative behavior. Biblical allusion of plague of frogs as symbolic of parental failure to 'let their children go.' Frank T.J. Mackey and Masculine Performance (59:41 - 01:09:41) Spotlight on Tom Cruise's versatile and immersive performance as Frank T.J. Mackey, exploring the emotional façade and trauma underlying his character. Mention of Cruise's Oscar nomination for the role and the improvisation he brought to the emotional father-son scenes. Julianne Moore's Character and Themes of Caregiving and Betrayal (01:09:41 - 01:20:56) Detailed discussion of Linda Partridge showing vulnerability, guilt, and emotional complexity amid caregiving for a dying Earl Partridge. Exploration of betrayal themes and intimate family dynamics. Film Length and Narrative Structure Discussion (01:20:56 - 01:32:27) Consensus on the film's excessive length complicating viewer engagement. Suggestions to streamline or reimagine — either cut characters and subplots or expand into a miniseries format. Potential Edits and Streamlining Approaches (01:32:27 - 01:43:10) Aaron recommends removing William H. Macy's character to focus tightly on key children and their relationships with their parents. Both emphasize retaining vital scenes such as the frog plague, quiz show elements, and key emotional arcs. Lighthearted Closing and Future Topics (01:43:10 - 01:53:43) Humorous tangent on frogs and Ninja Turtles. Promotion of next episode on 'Highlander 2: The Quickening.'

In this episode, we shine a spotlight on beloved Disney films that—shockingly—still don't have their own attractions at Walt Disney World. From forgotten classics to modern fan favorites, we count down the top 10 movies that seem tailor-made for immersive theme park experiences but remain unused in the parks.
We've reached the end of the 20th Century Fox era of Predator movies, right before the Disney purchase in 2019. This particular entry had a lot going for it, the return of director Shane Black to the franchise, an R rating, solid cast, big budget and yet it's regarded as probably the worst movie in the franchise with the inclusion of a giant nine feet tall Predator and movie Autism as a superpower. Susie is in the throes of Beatlemania, and she found out who Sarah's favorite Beatle is, and it's hilar (especially the reasoning). We learn about people who cannot see visual images or pictures in their mind, what conditions often correlate with the condition, and the pros and cons to having it. We hear why Susie thinks she has an auditory version of it and we discuss people who have something called "blindsight," where their eyes and brain can see things, but they aren't conscious of it, so they are ostensibly blind, but behave as if they aren't. Sarah describes a documentary about a school principal who hypnotized his students and three of them wound up dead. We discuss a nanny who was hired for a wealthy family and moved into their guest house, but when she was fired she refused to leave and invoked "squatter's rights." We debate the virtues of these strange laws that allow people to take over other people's residences.Brain Candy Podcast Website - https://thebraincandypodcast.com/Brain Candy Podcast Book Recommendations - https://thebraincandypodcast.com/books/Brain Candy Podcast Merchandise - https://thebraincandypodcast.com/candy-store/Brain Candy Podcast Candy Club - https://thebraincandypodcast.com/product/candy-club/Brain Candy Podcast Sponsor Codes - https://thebraincandypodcast.com/support-us/Brain Candy Podcast Social Media & Platforms:Brain Candy Podcast LIVE Interactive Trivia Nights - https://www.youtube.com/@BrainCandyPodcast/streamsBrain Candy Podcast Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/braincandypodcastHost Susie Meister Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/susiemeisterHost Sarah Rice Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/imsarahriceBrain Candy Podcast on X: https://www.x.com/braincandypodBrain Candy Podcast Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/braincandy (JOIN FREE - TONS OF REALITY TV CONTENT)Brain Candy Podcast Sponsors, partnerships, & Products that we love:Want to feel safer in online dating?
