Tip #3: Think outside the box and be flexible as a team. Create a holiday call list. Tip #4: Take time to celebrate with your team. Tip #5: Take time to care for yourself and your health.Quotes:“I like to just say what are some quick easy ways that we can do…because we all know momentum is easier than motivation. So we if we can get the momentum going into the new year, the energy is even better and stronger when our team is excited.” - Ariel (1:50—2:10)“#1…Fill [the schedule] with patients that are already scheduled. You have lots of opportunity in the schedule already. You just have to look for it. For example, how many hygiene patients are in the schedule that have unscheduled treatment? Can we go ahead and get them done on the same day? Or vice versa. Is there someone coming in for an emergency and they haven't had a cleaning in a while? Is that something that we can go ahead and just utilize those patients that are already walking in the door.” - Ariel (3:15—3:46)“Same day dentistry does not mean right now. So if they have a hygiene service and they need to go and do something for an hour, a lot of patients will come back…So don't think it has to be done right now because you don't ever want to hinder the schedule of currently scheduled patients, but there are lots of opportunities, you just have to be open to looking for it.” - Ariel (5:53—6:20)“#2…We all know there are a lot of insurance and flexible spending accounts that at the end of the year, those funds expire…That is money your patients have put aside and put away for that they're just going to lose, so we want to remind them. And sometimes they don't even know they can use it at their office.” - Ariel (6:35—7:07)“#3…The easiest way [to think outside the box and be flexible as a team] is just set the expectation. Tell the team ‘Hey, for this month we're going to be a little flexible. We are going to think of solutions.'...You get that deadline of December 31st. You know that your office is closed that week. I hear a lot of admin team members answer the phone and say ‘Sorry. We're booked.' …These patients are currently motivated and they are wanting to come in, so at the very least can we put them on a short call list? A priority list? Is there a way utilize a different column or chair? How can we get them in

In the episode of the Business Growth Architect Show we talk to Jeff Smith, whom I consider one of the, if not the father of KPIs. He is the author of The KPI Book (already in its Third Edition) and we are going deep on key performance indicators (KPIs) and their significance in your business strategy. He emphasizes that KPIs are never about measuring people, please listen in, he has some strong words about this, but rather about figuring out what makes sense to measure and then asking yourself why this number even matters. Jeff explained that KPIs should be used to evaluate whether actions are leading to desired goals, and they serve as a pathway or roadmap to the destination. Because the term KPI is often misconstrued and considered complicated he provides a very simple example of using calorie counting for weight loss. He illustrates that KPIs are not about blaming or terrorizing individuals for not meeting goals, but rather asking questions to understand the causes and effects of outcomes. Game changing. Next we discuss the difference between cause and effect, emphasizing that the information provided by KPIs raises MORE questions and prompts a deeper understanding of the underlying reasons for the results. You will never look at KPIs the same way again, I promise. Resources Mentioned: Jeff Smith: Website | Facebook | LinkedIn

In this very special solo episode, I'm talking about gratitude. But let's dig into it from a different perspective. We'll be starting with a seemingly random question - are you interested in getting high? Because that's one of the neurological effects gratitude has on us - no sketchy dealer required. It involves a particular chemical in our brains that makes us feel more gratitude, sleep better, alleviate stress and handle it better, strengthen our immune system so we're healthier, reduce depression and anxiety, and so much more.Remember: you may think you're feeling fine, but Fine is a 4-letter word.In a moment, you will discover how to get a hold on this "wonder drug" (you may have guessed by now, but let's find out) and also adopt five simple practices that help you experience gratitude - a fitting sentiment for Thanksgiving Day.Given everything you're about to discover, it seems particularly fitting that I share a quote from an unlikely philosopher – Willie Nelson. He said, “When I started counting my blessings, my whole life turned around.” At 90 years old, he might have learned some of the things we're about to explore together.Resources:Staying Calm in Chaos Program: https://get.stayingcalminchaos.com/F*ck Being Fine Coaching: https://zenrabbit.com/f-being-fine-program/LinkedIn: https://zenrabbit.com/linkedin/ Facebook: https://zenrabbit.com/facebook/Instagram: https://zenrabbit.com/instagram/Invitation from Lori:As we head into the holiday season, you might find yourself missing out on gratitude, lacking sleep, stressed out to the max, feeling physically ill, depressed, anxious, and more. What better time to take a step back - even if you can't get away just now.Visit my website at https://zenrabbit.com right now and download the 5 Easy Ways to Start Living The Sabbatical Life guide.Once you read it, you'll discover some of what's been holding you back and keeping you stuck. And the five tactics are pretty simple, but once you follow even ONE of them, you're in for a profound change. It's time to say F*ck Being Fine and find your calm in chaos. This guide is the place to start. It's time to experience joy on this day of Thanksgiving!

When it comes to an engaging poetry unit, I believe the #1 building block is performance. There's something about watching contemporary poets stand up and deliver their work that is undeniably engaging. Kids might hate the piece they see performed. They might love it. They might feel their skin crawl watching it because they think the poet is so awkward... or get goosebumps because it so exactly describes their own experience. But whether they love it or they hate it, in my experience, they're INTO it. They're THERE for it. And they love debating about it. So today on the podcast, I want to talk about performance poetry, and how to use it in your classroom. By the end of this episode, you'll walk away with my favorite clips, lesson ideas, and classroom event possibilities. Imagine you're meeting your blind date for the first time. You haven't spoken to them before, seen them before - this is the first moment you're having any kind of interaction with them. Before you begin speaking, you take in their appearance. Their face, their build, hair, clothes, how they carry themself, if they make eye contact, their small mannerisms as they approach you. These first few quick moments are creating an immediate reaction in your body and how you interpret them. You may feel yourself lean in more, perk up with interest, smile, get the warm tingleys because you are liking what you're seeing!! You may on the other hand feel some hesitation, slightly cringe, doubt, draw back, feel some sort of level of disappointment. Now as we know, looks aren't everything! You may find even if you weren't attracted to their appearance initially, their personality has changed that for you and you see them in a new light. They become more attractive to you overtime. But you needed to stick around long enough to allow that to develop. Now, why am I telling you about dating when we're talking about high end brands here?! And the risks of losing a lot weight quickly- no matter what the method- include regaining all of the weight (& then some). Let's make sure that doesn't happen to you! On this episode we're sharing how we help our clients on Ozempic, Wegovy, and Mounjaro lose weight the healthy way (and keep it off) as registered dietitians. The human body is an amazing machine. It has resilience and capabilities most people don't understand. But what happens to the body when we sacrifice too much in service to others?Dr. David Gustitus was raised by parents who divorced when he was very young, but it didn't seem that bad because they were both on the same page about raising him and very involved in his upbringing. He was taught the value of self-sacrifice - that you give and give and give, to the point of having very little regard for your own needs. Don't get a big head. Don't be full of yourself. Always put others first. As a child, Dr. Dave had debilitating asthma. Then his mom took him to a chiropractor, who miraculously “fixed” him in about 10 minutes. He became an excellent soccer player and a great athlete. After a stint in his 20s working for an environmental nonprofit, he found his true calling. Remembering how his childhood chiropractor changed his life and wanting to do the same for others, he went to chiropractic school and built a bustling practice. He got married and had two children. Everything seemed fine. But fine is a 4-letter word. While he had a great relationship with his kids, Dr. Dave's marriage wasn't going so well. He threw himself into triathlon training as a way of "self-medicating". Physically, he was in top notch shape. Then one day, while driving in Chicago with his 11-year old daughter, he felt a pounding in his chest and everything went white. Was it a heart attack? A panic attack? Psychosomatic? After repeated emergency room visits and numerous tests, it turned out Dr. Dave had autoimmune thyroid, called Hashimoto's thyroiditis.Basically, the stress caused by his self-sacrifice, combined with eating the wrong food, caused his body to attack itself. A year after knowing his marriage was over, he finally asked for a divorce. Once again, he struggled to climb stairs - ironically, just a few months after running his best triathlon and becoming a Taekwondo black belt. What was going on here?In a moment, when you meet Dr. Dave, you'll hear his journey toward regaining his health and prowess. Along the way, he discovered what causes people to have health problems and why society must rewire itself to stop accepting cancer and heart disease as normal.Dr. Dave's hype song is "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For" by U2 from the Rattle and Hum albumResources:Dr. David Gustitus' website: https://www.wholebodyhealthchiropractic.comLinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/company/whole-body-health-chiropractic/Facebook: https://www.Facebook.com/wholebodyhealthformeInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/wholebodyhealthformeInvitation from Lori:Like Dr. Dave, you may think everything's fine even though it isn't, because you're on the inside looking out and don't see the warning signs. In my special guide, 5 Easy Ways to Start Living the Sabbatical Life, you'll discover the steps to creating more success in your life through a counter-intuitive concept. It will open your eyes to some things you aren't seeing just yet. Before you crash and burn, you may need to slow down or even pull over. This means resting, reflecting, and recharging. Get more info and join us HERE. In Episode 181 of the Creative Shop Talk Podcast, I'm sharing 3 things that will help you maximize your sales this holiday season end the year in your retail shop with a little more energy and profits. Remember: it's not about chasing the sales and our top line. Three Things to Focus on in Q4 1. Your Team: Ensure your team knows the daily/weekly sales goals. Think about how you can motivate them to meet those goals. Can you gamify the goals for your staff? Make sure your team is feeling empowered, are trained properly in the products you sell, and that you are communicating properly with them. Does your team know to greet your customers? Are you asking “is there anyone else you have to buy for?” 2. Stop Random Acts of Marketing/Discounts: Random last minute sales confuse our customers and our staff. Any sales/discounts should be planned in advance with intention and communicated properly to our staff and customers. If you are starting to panic because things are slower than you expected, try going live on Facebook or Instagram. Show the value of your products through bundling, offering gift baskets etc. 3. Wow & Delight New Customers: This is the time of year that new customers will be coming into your shop. Maybe their friends told them about you, maybe holiday shopping gave them a reason to make their first visit. Take time to show them around your shop, introduce yourself, and make that first impression a good one. We want these customers to come back in the new year. We often spend a lot of time building our strength or improving our cardiovascular health - but what about our balance? Balance is one of the 6 important aspects of fitness, but it's often completely overlooked and not intentionally trained, until you realize how bad it is! Crystal trains with me, and asks: “I started Jumpstart30 at the beginning of the year, then Jumpstart60, and now I'm in GetStrongX. Despite doing this for awhile now (and loving it, btw!) I'm still super wobbly with any kind of single leg deadlift. I can't do any version of them without holding onto something to keep from falling over. Any tips on how I can improve my ability to do this exercise?” In this shortie episode, I'll break down the two types of balance and how to start improving them both. Then we'll walk through those pesky single leg deadlifts, and I'll show you how to stay balanced while performing them - and how those balance strategies translate to other exercises as well!
