Wikipedia describes Subbuteo as a "tabletop football game in which players simulate association football by flicking miniature players with their fingers". Auckland-based artist Bob Moore transforms the miniature player models into well known pop culture figures. The launch of his exhibition Arty Little Flickers takes place in Grey Lynn tonight. Bob tells Emile what to expect.

On imagine en l'écoutant qu'il s'inscrit à la suite d'une longue tradition orale québécoise, avec ses montées dramatiques, ses creux de vagues murmurés et une gestuelle tout en bras dans les airs et en expressions faciales (ce qu'a confirmé la série de photos prises lors de l'évènement...). De quoi a-t-il parlé à Emile et Guillaume ? Un peu de tout finalement, mais beaucoup d'émerveillement pour le paysage, ce muscle atrophié à une époque de repli sur soi et sur les écrans.Il est aussi question du fleuve comme univers et milieu de vie, de granges, de l'amour du bois, de la maquette comme socle de la création architecturale, du mode de vie des moines à l'Abbaye Val Notre-Dame qu'il a conçu, de la médiocrité des environnements urbains construits à la va-vite et du problème de l'accélération dans la conception de tout. Dans un Québec qui multiplie les projets de condos avec vue sur stationnement, Pierre, dont le travail est reconnu à travers le monde, nous montre plutôt le chemin inverse, celui qui nous élève et nous tire vers le haut.

Why are there very few convincing New Zealand accents from people who aren't New Zealanders?  Emile speaks to Perry Piercy, a voice coach who helps actors develop accents. And underlying it all, the tenacious and deadly legacy of the culture and structures of white supremacy.
