Ses ossements ont été retrouvés en mars 2024, avant que quatre membres de sa famille soient placés en garde à vue en mars 2025, puis remis en liberté sans poursuites. En 2026, une vaste campagne de prélèvements ADN a été menée auprès de 106 personnes présentes dans le secteur au moment de la disparition. Plus récemment, deux lettres anonymes, particulièrement intrigantes, retiennent l'attention des enquêteurs. Dans ce petit hameau du Haut-Vernet, l'enquête s'inscrit dans un véritable huis-clos. La famille d'Émile n'a jamais directement désigné les grands-parents ou leurs proches comme responsables. Pourtant, le cercle familial a fait l'objet d'investigations approfondies, notamment en 2025. Aujourd'hui, aucune accusation officielle ne pèse sur eux, mais la piste familiale n'est pas totalement écartée. En France, des milliers d'affaires criminelles restent non élucidées. Emile Alexandrov is an assistant professor of philosophy, formerly at the University of Tyumen in Russia, and currently a visiting scholar at Waseda University in Tokyo. The Government has announced plans to reverse planned bans on hard-to-recycle PVC and polystyrene. PVC, or polyvinyl chloride, is cling film commonly used to wrap meat, produce and deli goods. Meat and dairy sectors argue that banning these plastics would be catastrophic for the economy. Greenpeace NZ's Russel Norman said the decision was disappointing and concerning because of the environmental and health risks associated with the plastics. Johan Verbeek is the director of the 'Centre of Advanced Materials Manufacturing and Design' at the University of Auckland. He joins Emile.

Nicola Toki chats to Emile this week's critter of the week - the deepwater burrfish. The deepwater burrfish (Allomycterus pilatus), or kopuwaitotara, is an unusual deep-sea porcupinefish found in New Zealand and Australian waters. Covered in short spines and equipped with large eyes for life in dim depths, it can inflate its body to several times its normal size when threatened, making it difficult for predators to swallow. Despite being regularly washed up on beaches, relatively little is known about its population, biology or conservation status.
