Have you ever come home from hanging out with a new friend and you spiral, wondering if you shared too much or scared them off?I call this a new friend hangover. And in today's episode, I want to talk about what happens when we rush into new friendships, especially when we are really, really hungry for connection. So much of adult friendship advice tells us to open up, be vulnerable, share more, and let people in. I don't think that advice is wrong, exactly. I just think it's incomplete. The coffee dates, the shared activities, the silly moments, the tiny details you notice about each other are all part of your friendship origin story, which is where a lot of roots start to grow.In this episode you'll hear about:How being hungry for connection can make us try to fast-forward a friendship before it has rootsWhy anxious “new friend hangovers” can show up after a hangout you were excited aboutWhy taking pottery classes and sharing recipes can create small intimacies How to think about sharing from a scar instead of a wound when a friendship is still newResources & LinksEpisode 12: Digging Into the 3 Types of Friendship RootsEpisode 74: The Power of Vulnerability In Small DosesEpisode 100: How To Use the Wheel of Connection to Strengthen Your Support SystemLike what you hear? Together, the trio shares a little Disney of the week, from Legos to trips to Jenn's Tower elevator.. Dave's huge LEGO purchase.. then a quick chat about the DAS pass, and why parents cannot feel guilty about using services Disney provides...  Then, our list of predictions, from Space Mountain to Spaceship Earth, possible Epcot additions and returns, new lands in various parks, how Disney is really gaining momentum in their construction, putting the boot to Universal, and the things we really want to see Josh announce.  Take a listen, then watch the Parks presentation this weekend to know if we are right!

Send us Fan MailMeta and NVIDIA are turning up the heat in the open-weight AI race, while Anthropic is taking a very different approach by watermarking Claude-generated content. Amith Nagarajan and Mallory Mejias unpack what these moves mean for associations, from choosing models and inference providers to avoiding lock-in at the agent harness layer. They also explore why AI models are becoming increasingly commoditized, where proprietary models may still have an edge, and why Claude's new watermarking strategy probably isn't a foolproof solution for detecting AI-generated work. Plus, Amith shares lessons from Blue Cypress's latest AI hackathon, including how associations can use focused offsites to accelerate adoption and generate new ideas, and the hosts discuss a more productive approach to AI-generated submissions: using AI to evaluate quality, relevance, and originality rather than trying to ban it outright.

In a world where "kill or be killed" was the rule, David chose to honor. After the death of Saul and David's best friend, he seeks for survivors, only to discover a single son of Jonathan remains alive. Instead of doing what any other king at the time would have done, David brought that last survivor into his inner circle and treated him like family. What would drive David to take such a risk and be kind to a stranger? Pastor Alini shares the foundation of David's choice, and why his decision teaches us something about our own choices. Why do we return to the same emotional patterns even when we genuinely want something different? Why can peace feel uncomfortable? Why do some people miss relationships, jobs, routines, or situations they desperately wanted to leave? And what if the answer has less to do with willpower than we think? In this episode of Elevate Your Mind, Master Hypnotist and Subconscious Expert Rebecca Wiener McGregor explores the strange relationship between familiarity, the subconscious mind, emotional patterns, identity, and change.   What if some of the things you've called personality are actually patterns your subconscious has practiced for years?   What if your nervous system sometimes reaches for an old emotional pattern the same way your hand reaches for a light switch in a house you've already moved out of?   And what happens when peace, healthy love, receiving, confidence, or success are the unfamiliar experiences?   This conversation explores those questions—and one question in particular that may stay with you long after the episode ends: Is this familiar... or is it true? Listen in, and then tell me what you noticed. Asking for a Friend Have a question you've always wanted to ask about the subconscious mind, relationships, confidence, anxiety, money, habits, manifestation, emotional patterns, leadership—or something that feels a little embarrassing or taboo? Send it to me. You can absolutely be Asking for a Friend. Your question may inspire a future episode of Elevate Your Mind. _________________________________________________________ ✨ Connect with Rebecca Wiener McGregor

Would you like to have deeper connections with your friends? Lisa continues the conversation today with award-winning filmmaker Barnet Bain, who is known for beloved movies such as the Oscar-winning "What Dreams May Come." His latest book is "How to Be a Friend (In an Unfriendly World)" which was originally developed from a class he taught as part of Columbia University's master's course for psychologists. Barnet talks about how our friends are very much like gardens. You must water them and take care of them. If you do not make an effort with your friends, relationships can dissolve. The connection takes work, but it's important.  Whether good times or difficult times, it requires commitment to prioritize friends. Barnet explains a process to determine your priorities. If work becomes a priority, friendships may suffer, but there are ways to fix this. We all lead very busy lives, but he explains how to nurture friendships and not judge. Consistency is satisfying. Not everyone has to be a close friend. We can have friends from all walks of life.   Barnet also talks about values and commonalities among friends. He discusses ways to bond. Other generations, especially younger ones, develop bonds through social media. Friends can be made this way. Some friends stay in touch via text. That can be healthy and joyful! Even sending silly jokes can help friendships stay alive. He also talks about the importance of having deep conversations. It may be challenging, but we can learn to get out of our comfort zones so we can grow. This is Part 2 of the interview. Info: BarnetBain.com

Sharing the Gospel isn't easy. There are moments of resistance along the way: asking someone if you can pray for them, sharing your own story, explaining the good news of Jesus, and then, perhaps hardest of all, calling for a response. In this episode, I walk through a simple, practical way to help a friend respond after you have shared the Gospel with them.We look at questions like:What do you say after explaining the Gospel? How do you ask if someone wants to receive God's forgiveness and follow Jesus? How do repentance, faith, prayer, and baptism fit together? What should you do if your friend says no?What should you do if they say yes?The goal is not to pressure people into a shallow decision. The goal is to lovingly and clearly invite them to respond to Jesus with repentance, faith, and a willingness to follow him as his disciple. If you have someone in your life who needs Jesus, and you know it may be time to have that Gospel conversation, this episode will help you take the next step with wisdom and courage.Learn more at 12Church.net Take the Personal Evangelism Crash Course Here:https://www.twelvechurch.net/evangelism-crash-courseDiscover the Missional Living Map: https://missionalmap.comLearn more about 12Church: https://12church.netGet access to any tools and resources mentioned in this video here:https://www.12church.net/toolsThe 8 Essential Traits of a Disciple: https://www.twelvechurch.net/dnahttps://12church.net is about structuring your life around the call to be a disciple of Jesus Christ who makes disciples. It's about learning HOW to make disciples in this time and place.

Catherine, David and Matt catch up on the weekend's action in Canada with Toronto and Montreal both at the quarter-finals stage. Part one (00:00 - 15:07) Before we get to Canada, we start with the disappointing news that Jannik Sinner has withdrawn from Cincinnati due to a knee injury. How concerning is this? And what could it mean for the US Open? Part two (15:08 - 49:22) WTA Toronto. There's chat about Aryna Sabalenka's slump continuing, the challenge facing Ekaterina Alexandrova as she attempts to back up that win against Elina Svitolina, an unconvincing display from Elena Rybakina as she looks to close the gap to World No.1, a remarkable turnaround from Iga Swiatek to beat Marta Kostyuk, Alexandra Eala finally hitting the wall, and impressive performances from both Coco Gauff and Naomi Osaka. Part three (49:23 - 1:26:11) ATP Montreal. A last eight made up entirely of players born in the 2000s, the most enticing match up sees Arthur Fils go up against Rafael Jodar. We discuss Fils lighting it up against Cameron Norrie, Jodar's destructive return of serve, and what might happen in that one. Plus, there's a review of Ben Shelton beating Joao Fonseca, Brandon Nakashima's quiet run of form since hiring Wayne Ferreira, and predictions.
