Even though the documentary Tig Notaro produced won the Festival Favorite Award at Sundance, she did not spend the festival hobnobbing with industry types. Instead she stayed holed up at the Airbnb she rented with friends and the film's crew. "We were calling it Snuggle Down because we were all sitting around the fire and having tea and just laughing so hard." Among the people at Snuggle Down was the subject of the documentary, poet Andrea Gibson, who was dying of ovarian cancer. In this episode, Tig describes meeting Andrea, what made them click creatively, and how making a documentary about the end of Andrea's life brought an already tight-knit group of friends closer together. Welcome to episode 224 of Grasp the Bible. In this episode, we will study spiritual warfare 101. Key takeaways: Most Americans live as practical atheists when it comes to spiritual warfare—we acknowledge spiritual forces intellectually but live as if only physical forces matter. Lions don't roar when hunting—they roar to terrify prey into panic. Satan often uses intimidation and fear rather than direct attack. Satan seeks total destruction, not just temporary setbacks. Persecution is the roar by which he tries to intimidate believers in the hope that they will capitulate at the prospect of suffering. The world system promises what it cannot provide—lasting satisfaction, security, and significance. Our conquest isn't based on our strength but on Christ's love demonstrated at the cross. I'm burdened when believers tell me, 'I'm not good at memorizing Scripture.' Friend, you're not memorizing for a test—you're loading ammunition for a war. Quotable: Satan roars to paralyze us with fear, but he conquers through the small compromises we tolerate. Application: We don't fight for victory but from victory. Christ has already won; we enforce His victory. Effective spiritual warfare prayer includes: Confession of sin to remove footholds Praise and worship to enthrone God Intercession for others under attack Declaration of God's truth over lies Identify one area where Satan has been gaining ground—write it down, confess it, and ask God to remind you of your victory over it. Pray specifically for other believers under attack. Satan loves isolated Christians. We're stronger together. In this episode of Get Creative with Pace Morby, host Justin Tuminoski welcomes Edgar “The Connector” Salgado, a SubTo, Gator, and Owners Club powerhouse from Houston, Texas. When a zero-down real estate deal flipped on its head at the closing table, Edgar didn't panic—he pivoted. Tune in as he shares how he overcame a last-minute lender change, came up with $10,000 out of pocket, and still walked away with a cash-flowing fourplex generating $600 a month. You'll learn how Edgar and his partners leveraged creative financing tools like the Morby Method and Gator lending, worked through DSCR loan challenges, and turned a duplex into a fourplex that's now housing veterans and contributing to affordable and sober living solutions.
In this episode of Quakers Today, co-hosts Sweet Miche (they/them) and Peterson Toscano (he/him) invite you to learn more about the sometimes baffling practice of silent worship. Whether you're a long-time Friend or someone who has never stepped into a mostly silent meeting, we are pulling back the curtain to explore what happens in our hearts, minds, and bodies when we sit together in worship. The Purpose of Ministry We speak with author Rhiannon Grant about her book, Speaking in Quaker Meeting for Worship: What, When, How, and Why. Rhiannon helps us understand the purpose of spoken ministry in the silent meeting, explaining how speech that deepens silence is a vital part of our shared spiritual practice. Quote: "The purpose of ministry then might be understood as deepening the silence of meeting for worship." Read a review of Speaking in Quaker Meeting for Worship by Paul Buckley at FriendsJournal.org. Learn more about Rhiannon Grant's book and other Quaker Quicks at QuakerBooks.org/Collections/Quaker-Quicks. Our First Meetings for Worship Peterson and Sweet Miche share their first experiences in Quaker worship: Peterson's search for community after 9/11 and Sweet Miche's feeling of guidance at Pendle Hill. We also hear from Paula Christophersen, a Quaker in Germany, who shared her first experience of ministry. You can watch the full video of Paula Christophersen on YouTube or at QuakerSpeak.com. Meeting for Worship with Attention to Worship Peterson introduces a new format for meeting for worship he's been experimenting with: Meeting for Worship with Attention to Worship. This model of worship uses the meeting's existing structure to guide newcomers by making the internal work of worship visible and conversational. Quaker Fiction We explore how writers use fiction and poetry to make the internal, mystical experience of worship visible. Anne E.G. Nydam's story, “The Conduits”, reveals the flow of connection in meeting through glowing lines of light. Peterson shares two of his short stories! “Penn's Spring”, uses a mysterious, unexplained wet patch on a meetinghouse wall to represent a spiritual movement in a "stagnant and dry" meeting. “What Is Actually There” features a high-schooler named Jordan reflecting on the enduring effort of the Quaker path. “A Fine Showing for the Court of Owls” by Jonathan Doering is a story about the radical Quaker abolitionist Benjamin Lay. Read Quaker-themed fiction and poetry in the November 2025 issue of Friends Journal. Listener Responses Who is someone you've encountered in fiction that embodies Quakerness? The character could be from a book or movie. They could be a hero or even a minor character, and they do not need to be Quaker. This month's fictional “Quakers” include: Pooh Bear, Maisie Dobbs, Gumby, Ted Lasso, Dorothy from The Wizard of Oz, WALL-E, Stevens from The Remains of the Day, and Dorothea from George Eliot's Middlemarch. Next Month's Question We want to hear from you! What do you believe now that you didn't believe before becoming a friend or before encountering Quakerism? Leave us a voice memo with your name and town at 317-QUAKERS (317-782-5377). (+1 if outside the U.S.) You can also reply by email at podcast@FriendsJournal.org or on our social media channels. After the final match of the ATP Tour season, Catherine David & Matt are joined by Charlie Eccleshare in Turin to discuss the latest edition of the Sinneraz rivalry, and another astonishing ATP Finals title for Jannik Sinner, who is now undefeated on indoor hard courts for two full seasons. Part One 00:00 - In depth analysis of Sinner's straight sets win over Alcaraz in front of a giddy Italian crowd. I'm sharing the moment I finally understood what the military had been teaching me all along… plus one Kobe Bryant story that every leader needs to hear.

Need a deep breath before the holidays hit full speed? We're popping in with a candid check-in on where we've been, why the pace felt overwhelming, and the simple choices that help you stay human when the calendar won't slow down. From daylight saving crankiness to “Maycember” madness, we unpack how to practice presence in a season built on hurry. We start with a heart reset: the honest prayer search me, O God and how admitting your mess can invite real peace. Then we get practical. We talk about scheduling slow nights on purpose—quiet puzzles, a book with soft music, coffee by the tree—so memory has time to form. We share what retail taught us about compassion and boundaries, how to love the person in front of you without losing yourself, and why breath prayers and tiny breaks can change an entire shift. We also move toward the ache many carry this time of year: grief, seasonal depression, anxiety, and loneliness. The Los Angeles Dodgers made a trade on Sunday, although not one of the big-name trades we're expecting this offseason. Robinson Ortiz, who was just added to LA's 40-man roster a couple weeks ago, was shipped to Seattle for Tyler Gough, a young pitcher who doesn't need to be on the 40. Jeff Snider and Clint Pasillas are here to talk about this trade and the 40-man roster in general, leading up to Tuesday's deadline to protect players from the Rule 5 Draft. Meanwhile, free agent Dodger favorite Kiké Hernandez had surgery on his ailing left elbow and will miss the World Baseball Classic next spring because of it. Will it affect his free agency? And speaking of free agency, first baseman Josh Naylor is signing a five-year deal to stay with the Mariners, the first big signing of this Hot Stove Season. Let's dig into all of it! In this near-final episode of Joe & Reese's Pickle & Boot Shop, the hosts lament unrecorded pre-show laughs and kids blasting Futurama before sharing "winged" desperation dinners: Reese's "night wad" nails the old food pyramid, while Joe's "turkey apples onions" skillet—later boosted with spuds—turned into a kid-requested birthday hit born from lean times. They rank podcasts, giving The Dollop's dark history lessons the edge over Stuff You Should Know's fact-heavy snoozes, and wonder if Conan O'Brien Needs a Friend could rescue the genre. David and Matt discuss the Group Stages of the ATP Finals with Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner seemingly on yet another collision course in Turin. Part one - Bjorn Borg Group (00:00 - 20:55). We react to Felix Auger-Aliassime's nervy victory in the decisive match against Alexander Zverev, take stock of the German's season, and cover how Sinner has cruised to a 3-0 record. Part two - Jimmy Connors Group (20:56 - 42:28). There's chat about Carlos Alcaraz securing the year-end number one spot, a brilliant performance but ultimately elimination for Taylor Fritz, a dramatic reversal of fortunes for Alex de Minaur, and some magical Lorenzo Musetti scenes. Part three - Doubles and SFs Predictions (42:29 - 58:14). Do De Minaur and Auger-Aliassime stand a chance against Sinner and Alcaraz? I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Saturday morning, 15th November 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We start in the Gospel of John 6:15:”Therefore when Jesus perceived that they were about to come and take Him by force to make Him king, He departed again to the mountain by Himself alone.” The most humble person who has ever lived! He said if you want to be the best or the greatest, you must become the least. They wanted to make Him king. He knew it was not His time. He withdrew to the mountains by Himself. Oh folks, we need to be more like Jesus. There are too many of us clamouring to become famous and popular. I looked up John Lennon. He was the leader of probably the most famous rock and roll band in the world at the time, The Beatles. He made a statement and he did apologise afterwards. He said that they were more popular than Jesus, but at the age of 40, he was gunned down and he died.Elvis Presley - I've been to Graceland in Memphis Tennessee, I went with my good friend Tommy. We went to that beautiful house to go and have a look. It was one of the saddest places I've ever been. They said he was such a generous man. Elvis Presley was regarded as the most popular man in the world. They called him “The King of Rock and Roll,” but he could never sleep. He used to play the piano into the early hours of the morning and he would sing hymns they said. His kitchen was open 24 hours a day. He was thronged with friends, well I don't know if they were friends or hangers-on, so much so that his wife and his little daughter eventually left him, and then at the age of 42 years old, in the newspapers, the headlines, “The king is dead.”I want to say to you today, don't seek after the popularity of men, of society, of this world, rather seek after the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords, the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End, a Friend who sticks closer than a brother, Jesus Christ. Rather be like Him, and you will live a long time and you will live a peaceful life because when you follow Jesus, He gives you life eternal! Jesus bless you and have a wonderful and quiet day,Goodbye.

In this week's episode of The Cycling Podcast, we digress from the usual diet of weekly news and analysis for a check-in with a familiar voice and regular guest over the years, Matt White, who in recent weeks has joined the Movistar's team staff after over a decade in senior management at Jayco-AlUla. White's departure from the Australian trade team he had shaped for years was almost as much of a surprise as his professional ‘emigration' to Spain, although he has lived close to Valencia for many years. In this episode, he explains the specific challenges facing Movistar to Daniel Friebe, while also meditating more broadly on the challenge for ‘mid-table' teams of staying relevant in the Pogačar era. Bring a Friend, Save $200 @ Michael's New Year's Meditation Retreat in Costa Rica: https://events.agapelive.com/awaken-to-a-new-year-of-possibility/ After a profound spiritual awakening, Gugu is learning to love her fundamentalist Christian family as they are—yet struggles to comfort them during crises without betraying her own soul's knowing. How can she be truly compassionate when the language of her heart no longer matches their doctrine? Next, Becky wants to believe in God beyond the "man in the sky," but wonders how to pray to "a vibration"—and whether such a Presence can really answer. How can she really know what God is and how to reach It? Finally, Michael leads a powerful meditation in the sacred silence that leads to inspired thoughts and 'real thinking.' ✍️Love Take Back Your Mind? This podcast grows through your support. Delight Your Marriage | Relationship Advice, Christianity, & Sexual Intimacy
Eternal Marriage Mindset: Living Today for the Streets of Gold We get so caught up in the now—our needs, our feelings, our expectations—that we forget: this isn't forever. And when it comes to your marriage, your mindset matters more than you know. What if the goal isn't just earthly happiness… but eternal impact? Let's shift our gaze from the temporary to the eternal—from trying to fix our spouse to faithfully loving them like Jesus. Because your marriage assignment? It impacts eternity. A Marriage Mindset That Reaches for Heaven If marriage is your god, you'll do it your way. You'll chase validation, push for change, demand your rights, and stew in resentment when your spouse doesn't meet your expectations. But if God is your God, and marriage is your assignment, you'll do it His way. You'll put your spouse before your ministry, before your work, before the kids. You'll think about loving them the way they receive love. You care about peace, patience, kindness, and self-control in your marriage. You value reconciliation and you stop praying, "God, fix my spouse so I feel better," and start praying, "God, draw them closer to You." It's a radical shift in your marriage mindset. And it changes everything. Eternal Marriage Mindset: Your Assignment Is Bigger Than You Think Think about this: your spouse isn't just your husband or wife. They're your brother or sister in Christ. One day, they will stand before Jesus just like you will. What if your daily choices helped them be more ready for that moment? That's the eternal marriage mindset. It's not about temporary comfort—it's about eternal glory. You're not just trying to survive your marriage. You're trying to love your spouse all the way to the streets of gold! And, by God's grace, you'll be dancing there together one day. You only get one marriage with this person. One chance to love them well. One life to serve them, selflessly. And if that service brings them closer to Jesus? It's worth every ounce of sacrifice. Streets of Gold and a Big Ol' Mansion Next Door But all joking aside, imagining heaven should stir our hearts. Because eternity is real. And that means what you do in this short vapor of a life matters. If you need help fixing your gaze upward, here's a powerful recommendation: Wild Near-Death Experiences: Proof of Heaven | John Burke | Ep:365 from the Blurry Creatures podcast. John is a former pastor, engineer, and researcher who has explored over 1,000 verified near-death experiences—and the common themes are stunning. Even from those with no faith background, many report seeing a being of love, a city of light, a life review… all pointing to the reality of heaven. His ministry, Imagine Heaven, invites us to live today in light of eternity. And wow—is it motivating. When we meditate on the realness of what's ahead, our marriage takes on deeper purpose. It becomes a divine assignment with eternal weight. It's Not About Them, It's About You: Taking Ownership in Your Marriage Here's the hard truth: You will stand before God alone. You won't be able to say, "But my husband didn't…" or "But my wife never…" This journey isn't about controlling your spouse—it's about surrendering your own heart. If your marriage is struggling, start by asking: Am I doing this God's way? Am I praying for their character, not just my comfort? Am I serving them with an eternal mindset—or demanding love on my terms? The shift starts in you. Final Thoughts: Marriage Is Temporary. Your Influence Isn't. Heaven is coming. And when you get there—your mansion sparkling, the streets of gold beneath your feet—will your spouse be dancing beside you? Will your love have drawn them closer to Jesus? Will your sacrifices have sown eternal seeds? Friend, your influence matters. Every word, every action, every reaction has a chance to draw them closer to Jesus. So soften your heart. Adjust your mindset. And do marriage well—not for earthly gain, but for eternal glory. We are rooting for you! Blessings, The Delight Your Marriage Team PS - Want help living this out?
