I'm answering another listener's question in this Put It into Practice episode. I received this question over social media and I think it's something we don't talk about enough - Porn Addiction. The question I received: is porn addiction an epidemic? I review the causes, triggers, and consequences of porn addiction. I also discuss the relationship between sexual abuse and porn. Don't forget you can message me over on IG or send me an email - lisa at lisamustard dot com to ask me a question about therapy, mental health, relationships, that I will answer on a future episode (anonymously, of course). Because if you're wondering about it chances are others out there are wondering about it too! We are so excited to soak in some of that wisdom today as he shares nuggets from his new book “Help!! My Photography Website Needs MORE Customers.”Websites are one of, if not THE, most important part of your sales and visibility. They are our shop window to the world which is why Jeff says it is so important to convey confidence and trust on your site.He says, “a website should have one major purpose and that purpose should be to either direct a visitor to book a call, book a session or leave their email address in exchange for something.”To do this, Jeff prefers a “Scroll to Sell” Website which takes people on a journey to an end result and are preferred in recent Google SEO updates. What is a “Scroll to a Sale Website”? I take people on a journey to an end resultCreates a big first impressionFocuses on empathy first by addressing their fears and problems. Includes testimonials on the home page. Uses descriptive wordsHas a call to action Jeff also tells us some big news about GOOGLE's Helpful Content Update starting in 2023.And is offering a special 50% discount on an SEO package if we sign up for a website with his service through thephotographerssuite.com/info@focusonmarkerting.co.ukwww.thephotographersmentor.comGrab your headphones and listen now!Photography Business Coach Luci Dumas' Programs and Contact Info:lucidumascoaching.comluci@lucidumas.comhttps://www.instagram.com/theprofitablephotographer_pod/https://www.facebook.com/LuciDumasCoachinghttps://www.youtube.com/channel/UCut3Qk6t6Z2DUJYEYGSCfKA

I had a positive week and should have been in a great mood having just wrapped up the majority of TNTD: Dethfest. Unfortunately, I watched clips of Dana White's sorry excuse for a sport. His "Power Slap" (the TBS show, not him hitting his wife) is one of the most disgusting things I've seen in a while and it brought on a really bad bout of rage and depression. Of course the show was not the reason for the episode, but it was the spark that set me off. I discuss how I tried to spin the very negative day into a positive and a warning for others to be careful with the content they consume. On a more positive side of things, I discuss two of the new authors joining the Try Not to Die team. The short horror story "Shades of Death" narrated by Tee Quillin on the Twisted Reunion audiobook. Also includes the short horror story "Shades of Death" taken from Twisted Reunion.

Pavel Ythjall was on top of the world. One of the best fitness photographers in the world, he had started the fitness company Fighterdiet with his ex-wife, Pauline. The company was a success, helping more than 10,000 women each year take control of their lives and become strong, fit, healthy, and empowered. To make things even better, he was married to the love of his life, Kat. Life felt like a fairytale. He and Kat shared a zest for life, and they had the financial means to live to the fullest. They went for helicopter rides and yacht rides. They traveled frequently to Belize and other amazing places. And then, in December 2015, the fairytale came to an end. They were on their way to a Christmas party when their tire blew out. After swerving and hitting a freeway sign, their car rolled three or four times. Pavel broke his neck and Kat was paralyzed. It was devastating. In the blink of an eye, the couple who had been savoring everything life had to offer found themselves fighting just to survive. And even if they both lived—and after his near decapitation, and doctors giving Kat only a 10 percent chance of survival, that seemed like a big if—Pavel knew that life could never be the same. In this episode, Pavel shares their story as well as the book he wrote, True Love & Suffering, that helps to remind people facing hardship and tragedy that they are not alone. True Love & Suffering is currently ranked #1 in two Amazon categories! In addition to hitting Best Seller, the book was also named a #1 Amazon Hot New Release! But less well-known are the wisdom-bringing psychedelic experiences of many top psychologists, psychiatrists, researchers, and others who have taken what they learned from their entheogenic experiences and applied it in their professions, leading to therapeutic advancements, scientific discoveries, and healing for thousands. In this profound book, Dr. Richard Louis Miller shares stories of psychedelic transformation, insight, and wisdom from his conversations with 19 scientists, doctors, therapists, and teachers, each of whom has been self-experimenting with psychedelic medicines, sub rosa, for decades. We hear from scientific psychonaut Amanda Feilding, founder of the Beckley Foundation; ethnobotanical explorer Dennis McKenna; research advocate and head of MAPS Rick Doblin; and the “Sunshine Makers”: Tim Scully, the scientist taught to make LSD by Owsley Stanley, and Michael Randall, the leader of the Brotherhood of Eternal Love. We learn about recasting “bad trips” as unfamiliar challenges from psychedelic swami Allan Ajaya as well as the therapeutic uses of MDMA from “the love doctor” Charley Wininger and gain decades of insights from psychedelic professor Thomas B. Roberts as well as several others. Revealing the psychedelic wisdom uncovered in spite of decades of the “War on Drugs,” Dr. Miller and his contributors show how LSD and other psychedelics offer a pathway to creativity, healing, innovation, and liberation.

There's been so much talk of AI of late. I think when ChatGPT came on the scene towards the end of 2022, it inspired so much curiosity and concern. And of course, intangible AI has the potential to be hugely impactful—but what about when you combine the power of AI with robotics? Does that become even more exciting or more terrifying to you?To help illuminate the topic, I wanted to turn to Dor Skuler. He's the co-founder and CEO of Intuition Robotics. The Dream Isn't That Far AwayThere are many among us, who for the pursuit of money, power or attention, ( and some out of pure hate), would have you believe that the institutional racism of the 1960s is still present in the United States today. Nothing could be further from the truth. Many of these people would have you believe this, because they know the best way to benefit themselves is to keep everyone else divided. Our founders spoke of freedom and all men being created equal. Our country has not always lived up to those ideals. On August 28, 1963, Martin Luther King Jr. gave his historic "I have a dream" speech as it came to be known. Some would say different, but I say, the dream isn't that far away."I have a dream"On August 28, 1963, Martin Luther King Jr., in front of thousands of cheering onlookers in Washington D.C., gave what would become one of the most historic speeches in the history of our great nation. Our country is not without it's stained past, but MLK knew then what the nation was capable of because of faith and the words of our founders. The dream of which Dr. King spoke, is only hindered by 2 things, ignorance and those who benefit from keeping us divided. In my opinion, the dream isn't that far away. If you have not listened to this historic speech in its entirety, please have a listen and share wherever possible. Happy MLK Day!!What have you done today to make your life a better life? What have you done today to make the world a better place? The world is a better place if we are better people. That begins with each of us leading a better life. Be kind to one another. Brian #1: PEP 703 - Making the GIL Optional in CPython Author: Sam Gross Sponsor: Łukasz Langa Draft status, but on Standards Track, targeting Python 3.12 Suggested by: Will Shanks “The GIL is a major obstacle to concurrency.” Especially for scientific computing. PEP 703 proposes adding a --without-gil build configuration to CPython to let it run code without the global interpreter lock and with the necessary changes needed to make the interpreter thread-safe. PEP includes several issues with GIL and sckikit-learn, PyTorch, Numpy, Pillow, and other numerically intensive libraries. Python's GIL makes it difficult to use modern multi-core CPUs efficiently for many scientific and numeric computing applications. There's also a section on how the GIL makes many types of parallelism difficult to express. Changes primarily in internals, and not much exposed to public Python and C APIs: Reference counting Memory management Container thread-safety Locking and atomic APIs Includes information on all of these challenges. Distribution C-API extension authors will need access to a --without-gil Python to modify their projects and supply --without-gil versions. Sam is proposing “To mitigate this, the author will work with Anaconda to distribute a --without-gil version of Python together with compatible packages from conda channels. This centralizes the challenges of building extensions, and the author believes this will enable more people to use Python without the GIL sooner than they would otherwise be able to.” Michael #2: FerretDB Via Jon Bultmeyer A truly Open Source MongoDB alternative MongoDB abandoned its Open-Source roots, changing the license to SSPL making it unusable for many Open Source and Commercial Projects.
