Anika Savoy is an award-winning author and attorney who has always felt a supernatural pull. A healthy skeptic, she can't deny her near-death experience and the shift it made in her life and writing. She attended McGill University and graduated with distinction in 1988 with a B.A. in English Literature. While at McGill, she won several creative writing contests. Thereafter, she wrote three historical romance novels. In 1998, Anika changed course and pursued her lifelong dream of becoming an attorney. She graduated from University of Cincinnati, College of Law with Dean's Honors in 2001 and practiced law for almost 20 years. Now, Anika returns to her first love: writing historical romance. She endeavors to add paranormal elements that take readers into a fairy tale universe where ghosts and witches exist, and happy endings abound. In the American church, there's been a growing, gaping hole between the generations. Older women often feel disconnected and irrelevant to younger women, easily intimidated by modern technology and navigating social media and it's easy for many to feel out of touch. Many younger women feel like they're doing just fine on their own and don't see the need for biblical mentorship. Others find that when they do ask an older woman to mentor them, they get turned down and they wind up navigating as best they can but desperate for help from someone who's been there and done that. Our goal in this episode is to encourage the hearts of both older and younger women and give strategies to help you connect and share creative ways to bridge the massive gap between the generations. A great rule of thumb is to never, NEVER, ever get involved in another couples drama or arguments. What if it causes you to look like a cheater?
Artificial Intelligence is the newest weapon for terrorists to add to their arsenal. It is especially effective to groom and recruit people who are most vulnerable - those who are lonely, depressed, or have some other psychological issue that makes them eager to have a chatbot to talk to and become their new friend. As it is, countless lone wolves have been radicalized online. Imagine how much more convincing a friendly chatbot could be, while spewing terrorist propaganda. You will hear why demands are growing for regulation of AI before it becomes like Frankenstein - an out of control monster threatening the human race. You will also hear about some of the forms of AI that are especially useful to terrorists. Ads for chatbots appeal to the very people ISIS, Al Qaeda and other terrorist organizations target to recruit. These ads say, “Need a friend? Talk to a chatbot….”Then you'll hear three real life examples of young men who were radicalized and recently convicted of terrorism - from the UK to Kansas: Matthew King, Ali Abdillahi and Andrew Dade Patterson. Fortunately, they were stopped in the nick of time, by authorities who were tipped off by the terrorists' family and by their posts online, before they did grave damage. So, this will enable you to envision how AI could have radicalized them faster and accelerated their plans for terror attacks, such that they resulted in countless dead and injured victims.

A video went viral in South Korea of a CEO slapping an employee on the face in front of all his employees. Netizens were enraged - but as new details emerged, they realized the truth was even darker. The sadistic CEO would force his employees to decapitate live chickens during company retreats, force them to drink beer till they urinated themselves, he force-feed them multivitamins till they threw up, and shoot at them with BB guns for fun. The terrifying part was that this was just the tip of a very dark, cold iceberg. This is the true story that inspired the hit K-Drama series “Taxi Driver.” Full Source Notes: rottenmangopodcast.com To learn more about listener data and our privacy practices visit: https://www.audacyinc.com/privacy-policy Learn more about your ad choices. Let's face it: navigating life as a young professional is a challenge. Between work, finances, play and living situations, finding a community of people to connect with and get real often gets pushed to the back burner. However, we were made for community, and God's Word is far from silent on the subject. In fact, it is impossible to follow God wholeheartedly and not be in a Christ-centered church and community. The Apostle Paul in Galatians 6 shares key truths about how to live in a real way with real connections to real people, and the life that comes with living in this way. Come check out Week 1 of our Real Life series as we talk about how to have real life community.
We had the pleasure of interviewing Story Of The Year over Zoom video!Story Of The Year has recently released their long-awaited sixth studio album Tear Me To Pieces, via SharpTone Records. Featuring eleven new tracks – including previous singles “Real Life,” “Tear Me To Pieces,” “Take The Ride,” “War,” and “2005” – the new album is distinctly, invitingly, loudly Story Of The Year. Heartache, desperation, motivation, toxic relationships, pain, loss, anger - all of the essential ingredients of the classic Story Of The Year sound propel Tear Me to Pieces in dazzling new ways. "I think this album will be a defining moment in our career," says guitarist Ryan Phillips. "When our fans hear it, they'll be like, ‘Oh, shit, these dudes are ready to go!' This is the sound of a band putting everything into it. If a new band came out with this album, I'd be texting everyone in my band about it.”Fans can stream Tear Me To Pieces now at https://bfan.link/tear-me-to-pieces-3“Afterglow is one of the most meaningful songs on the record for me. It's basically a letter to my kids. It's a song about how no matter how dark things might get, they will always be my light. They are the ‘perfect afterglow,'” says vocalist Dan Marsala. “The line “I can barely feel the pain when I'm staring at you” was one of the first lines written for the record. It kind of set the tone for how personal I wanted the lyrics to be on this record. I'm still one of the most meaningful and deepest lyrics I've ever written.”We want to hear from you! With no Oilers hockey in sight, the newest episode of the Real Life podcast had no structure and absolutely no set agenda whatsoever. If you're a fan of nonsense, this episode is for you.Kicking off the Thursday episode of Real Life, the guys got started by introducing our new intern, Aleena, even though she really had no interest in being on the podcast. As you'll hear, the guys asked Aleena one question and barely let her answer before steering the show into the ditch. From unpopular food takes to Tyler's confession that he accidentally eats his own lip, the start of this podcast was an absolute disaster. Trying to get the show back on track, Aleena was finally able to get a couple of answers in about her journey in journalism and what it's been like to be an intern at The Nation Network. Changing gears, Jay finally got some clarity about when he'll be doing some batting practice at RE/MAX to find out once and for all if he can hit a ball out of the park. Lastly, the guys wrapped up the Thursday episode of Real Life with another random collection of topics that were as all over the map as the stories were incomplete. She's been a murderous psychic child, a holographic Victorian heiress, a recovering alcoholic country singer, and a whole lot more! While her time in Trek was limited as a child, Lindsey Haun's career has been filled with ties to the franchise that remain to this day, in a career where her talents always shined brightly. Lindsey appeared on three episodes of "Star Trek: Voyager" in two different roles. First, she was Beatrice Burleigh in the episodes "Learning Curve" and "Persistence of Vision," a character from Captain Janeway's holonovel. She followed that up as Belle in the third season episode "Real Life," the holographic daughter from the EMH's programmed family. Lindsey talks to us about her time working with Kate Mulgrew and Robert Picardo, as well as her fictional brother Thomas Dekker, her joy of wearing the gothic outfits, lessons from director Anson Williams, and other fond memories of her time on set. Lindsey also starred in Stephen King's "Village of the Damned," along with Wrath of Khan's Kirstie Alley, Christopher Reeve, Mark Hamill, and Thomas Dekker, and explains the Trek connections to that film.
