Send us a textThe woods have a way of staring back. We open with a thank-you to our behind-the-scenes pro, Brodie, then head straight into a late-Halloween run of stories that test nerves and judgment—starting with a fresh reading of The Most Dangerous Game and rolling into true hunts that veer into nightmare territory.Connell's classic isn't just literature; it's a field lesson in staying rational when adrenaline surges. We break down how a hunter under pressure slows time: false trails, improvised traps, terrain you use instead of fight. That thinking echoes into the modern stories—a Newfoundland moose that appears stone dead until it doesn't, a Michigan dusk sprint chased by a scream you can't classify, and a Kentucky porch call that pulls eyeshine to fifteen feet with no sound until retreat. Each account lands with practical takeaways: confirm before approach, keep your rifle in hand, plan your exit in daylight, and respect that silence can be a sign, not a comfort. We close riverside, where fog and footsteps edge into the paranormal. Believe in ghosts or not, the safety rules hold: control your light, move toward known exits, keep someone updated, and never ignore that gut drop when a pattern in the woods turns wrong. This episode blends campfire chills with hard-won field craft, built for anyone who's dressed a moose, climbed into a tree stand, or simply felt the hair lift on their neck at the treeline. If these stories stuck to your ribs, hit follow, share with your hunting crew, and drop your own backcountry scare in a review—what lesson did it leave you with?Check us out on Facebook Hunts On Outfitting, or myself Ken Marr. “Sometimes the most powerful conversations aren't about success — they're about what it costs to grow.”In today's episode, I sit down with Matthew Gauger, founder of Greenhorn Grove, a homesteader, husband, and father who's learning to build a life from the soil up — both literally and emotionally.Matthew opens up about his journey into homesteading, the hard lessons of self-reliance, and what it really means to live in alignment with your values. But this conversation also goes deeper — into the struggles within his marriage, the pressures of providing, and the courage it takes to face what's not working while still choosing growth. This isn't just a story about farming — it's a story about faith, honesty, and rebuilding. It's about what happens when the image of a perfect life gives way to something far more authentic. So settle in. HER Style Podcast | Buy Less, Shop Smarter, Build a Wardrobe You Love
When you look at your closet, do your clothes reflect the life you're living right now… or the one you picture in your head? For many women, this is where things start to break down.We buy the sequin dress for 'someday,' the heels that sit on the shelf gathering dust, the fancy blouse that feels great on the hanger but awkward on a Tuesday Zoom call. And then, we wonder why we're constantly frustrated, standing in front of a full closet, saying we have nothing to wear. Fantasy shopping is one of the biggest confidence drains in a wardrobe. It leaves us surrounded by things that don't fit our actual lives, so when it's time to get dressed, we feel disconnected from ourselves. But when you learn to shop for the life you actually lead—the meetings, the errands, the coffee dates, the family get-togethers—you build a wardrobe that supports you, builds confidence, and helps you show up as the woman you already are. That's what I want to talk about with you today: how to shift from shopping for the fantasy to shopping for reality, and why this single change can transform the way you feel in your clothes. Do you have a real life ghost story?
Thursday afternoon means a fresh episode of Real Life was recorded, edited, and is ready to help you wrap up the week. On today's podcast, the guys discussed the Toronto Blue Jays being a win away from the World Series, the Nation Vacation to Vancouver, beefs of the week, Halloween candy, and much more. The guys kicked off the Thursday episode of Real Life with a look at the Toronto Blue Jays' chances at closing out the World Series on Friday night at the Rogers Centre. Given that the Jays are only one game away from clinching their third World Series title, it's hard not to get completely wrapped up in this run. Even if you're not a hardcore Blue Jays fan who watches every game in the regular season, the hype is taking over the country in a very real way.Changing gears, the guys dove a little bit into the Nation Vacation, and started with the rally popcorn Baggedmilk bought at the Oilers game in Vancouver. While the rally popcorn was trying to do its thing, Jay noted that Tyler had the job completed before Edmonton actually completed the comeback. From there, Tyler and BM spent the next few minutes thanking the amazing Nation Citizens who joined us on this trip out west. Finally, the guys wrapped up the podcast with Thursday episode of Real Life with a random collection of topics, including a look at the NFL schedule having some horrible prime time matchups, Halloween candy tactics during the World Series, and how shrinkflation is ruining everyone's ability to eat appropriate amounts of candy. Talking about candy led to the guys workshopping some ideas for Chalmers' Halloween party that some folks on the show weren't invited to. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

We're talking real-deal confidence—the kind you build while you're ugly-crying in your car between school drop-off and a board meeting. In this conversation with media pro and author Lynn Smith, we dig into the messy intersection of courage and confidence, why perfectionism and your “brain bully” are killing your clarity, and how to model bravery for your kids (and, TBH, for yourself). Spoiler: brave isn't something you are; it's something you do. We get into naming the inner critic, reframing fear, and choosing the next right step—even when quitting is actually the bravest move. Oh, and Lynn wrote the children's book on this: Just Keep Going—for kids and the grown-ups who love them. What we cover: The fear loop CEOs and six-year-olds share—and how to break it “Brain bully” vs. inner knowing: name it, reframe it, tell it to sit down Perfectionism, imposter syndrome, and the confidence–courage flywheel When to keep going…and when letting go is the most courageous choice Raising confident kids by modeling it (not lecturing it) Simple body-based resets for big feelings (yours and theirs) Because whether you're running a company or raising tiny humans, confidence isn't about never feeling fear — it's about learning to move with it, breathe through it, and just keep going. In this sharp, high-energy episode of The Determined Society, host Shawn French sits down with the iconic Kelly Killoren Bensimon — model, author, Real Housewives of New York alum, and powerhouse luxury real-estate broker — for a raw conversation about mental toughness, authenticity, and legacy. Kelly opens up about the lessons learned after fame, how she rebuilt her identity beyond reality TV, and why music and curiosity still fuel her every move. From embracing “minnow vs shark” mindset shifts to navigating public perception, Kelly shares what it really takes to evolve in the spotlight while staying grounded in family and purpose. Kelly reveals how she transformed criticism into clarity, leveraged her Midwest roots for grit, and turned chaos into creativity through focus, curiosity, and real work.
