She had lost her hand in a workplace accident in 1993. She became part of a six-month experiment at Rome’s Policlinico Gemelli hospital and was fitted with the prosthetic in June 2016. Almerina said, “ It’s almost like its back!”. Something like that isn’t cheap, it costs $11,000 in US dollars! Sadly, she didn’t get to keep it because it was just a prototype. As soon as they get another made specially for Ms. Mascarello that she will keep.
