One of the best things about the #PhonlyInMarch interviews has been the chance to see common threads emerging. One of the most important ones is this: the community is what makes the content work. So many are investing so much in content and wondering why it doesn't work. Or they're not investing at all because they don't think their content will work. Both types of people are missing a very important step: showing love to the people who bother to care about you is what gives your content the lift it needs to do the with you need it to do.
Just my 2 cents. People are so obsessed with building big audiences that they neglect the power of meaningful one-to-one encounters. Here's how I would do it differently!
The big myth is that social media storytelling will not pay off until you've got tens of thousands of followers. It's a lie. Even a few dozen people who vibe with you in a deep way can be enough if the community is deep enough to create real influence.
