Sojourner Truth asked the question, "Ain't I a woman?" to white women rallying for equal rights. As a black woman in Asia, I find myself asking this same question when I am not given the same respect as other women. Failure to recognize black women as women is dehumanizing, and dehumanization damages everyone involved.

What should we do with heart-wrenching stories? In this episode, I reflected on why my brief encounter at the bank affected me so deeply and what my response ought to be. Are we a society that gets involved, or is it enough for us to just listen?
