back in episode 3 we talked about school, ripped it apart, and we figured that we should probably get a teacher's input to see whether we passed or failed. we ring up one of our former teachers, Mrs. D, to tell us what we got right (or wrong) about the competitive nature of schooling, how school has changed from violent nuns as teachers until now, and how outcasts can find their place in the system.
remember waking up too early on saturday morning, pouring some cereal, and sitting for hours watching cartoons? maybe your mama threw soap operas at night that knocked you right out. did you ever see yourself in a show growing up? or was it more like misrepresentation? we look at the influence of entertainment, characters, and the freedom to be an individual. did titanic scar you too?
school got us all types of messed up. was it the teachers? the kids? the lunches? or all of the above? this isn't a multiple choice test. we're breaking it down, looking back at all of our shenanigans growing up in a suburban district. we talk about teachers that guided us and others that metaphorically paddled us. we also reflect on why we acted out, homecoming kings and queens, sex in the schoolhall, bullying and being different. if you could reimagine school, what would it look like? *que hogwarts theme song*
