I first started managing my own investment property projects and then investors from my investment group started asking me to manage their renovations. Whereas Project management has been a profession for, the area of renovation and remodeling project management is a newer area. Homeowners use to manage their home renovations and remodeling themselves; however today, with homeowners being busier and the increase in stress and difficulty handling contractors, vendors, etc., homeowners are finding it extremely helpful to have a project manager keeping tabs on the project progress and keep them informed on how things are going, no matter where they’re located. One of the most common questions, I am asked is “how much will it cost to hire a Renovation Project Manager? Renovation Project Managers’ fees varies depending on the project and scope. However, you can expect to be charged a percentage of the entire project cost. That percentage usually runs 10 to 15 percent of the entire project cost. Therefore, if your project cost is $100,000, then you should expect to pay a project manager around $10,000 to $15,000 to manage the project.
