In the film industry, a "cold read" is the reading of a script aloud with no preparation, no rehearsal. It's something directors use to see if an actor can think on their feet. As a producer, folding over the cover page of a new script is probably the greatest moment of a project because it's pure possibility. This story could be amazing, or it could be total dog shit. For now, it's both awesome and shitty at the same time, kind of like a certain cat in a box. In an attempt to share the experience of Shrodingarian ecstasy with you, we've created this podcast, where I will be reading a screenplay in its entirety for the first time for you. I've only seen a logline for these, so I know about as much as you do now. This is Episode One, entitled "A Nightmare on Elm Street: Dream Reunion". Here's the logline from the author, Eric Dickson: Nancy Thompson-Keller, best selling author of Springwood Secrets: The Untold Story of Fred Krueger, self help guru and talk show host Jesse Walsh and earnest guidance counselor Alice Johnson-Spector coach a new generation of dream warriors. This is an intended sequel reuniting survivors and most popular characters of the original Nightmare on Elm street series. You can reach Eric at EDixsn1@hotmail.com. The authors and I are looking forward to your feedback. Share your thoughts on our Facebook page at facebook.com/coldreadpod or tweet me @jonracinskas. Be sure to subscribe and review at your preferred podcast retailer. Are you interested in having your work read on Cold Read? Email the show at coldreadpod@gmail.com. Send a logline and a PDF. This episode features music from Dan Bodan ("Gaia in a Fog"), Aaron Kenny ("Happy Haunts"), and Biz Baz Studio ("Sneaky Business"). (This is part 1 of 2)
