Chapter 1: Pipeman interviews Welsh metalcore band Bless Your Dead.Rising from the ashes of When We Were Wolves, the band announce their arrival with the release of their debut single “Everyone's A Target” — a no-holds-barred statement of intent from a band reborn heavier, sharper and more focused than ever. They've just announced their debut show, performing at Noizzefest in Cardiff this April. The track is due for release on 5th February and is the first single from a wave of new music lined up for 2026. Bless Your Dead are poised to make a serious impact, returning with a sound that is heavier, more refined and more confrontational than ever before. Formerly known as When We Were Wolves, the four-piece metalcore outfit have spent the past year tearing everything down and rebuilding from the ground up. The result is Bless Your Dead: a band delivering heavy riffs, crushing breakdowns and anthemic choruses, driven by a renewed sense of purpose and aggression. The band features vocalist Mitch Bock, guitarists Jay Coatsworth and Jack Adams, and drummer Kristian Eirsland “After taking a year away to write and record, it became apparent that the material we were working on was something completely different to what we'd done before — and that's when Bless Your Dead was born,” explains vocalist Mitch Bock. “Everyone's A Target” serves as the first taste of what's to come. Though it was the final video shot from an upcoming run of three singles, the band felt it was the strongest introduction to their new sound. “Being a band that mixes heavy and melodic, we felt this track was the perfect place to start,” says Mitch. “It's got riffs, a big chorus and a breakdown — everything that represents us right now. ”Lyrically, the track channels raw frustration and defiance. “It's about reaching breaking point with forced loyalty and surface-level behavior, and finally snapping back."With a wave of new music lined up for 2026, Bless Your Dead are poised to make a serious impact, returning with a sound that is heavier, more refined and more confrontational than ever before. Chapter 2: Pipeman interviews horror/industrial metal band Horror Scene. Our music blends aggressive metal with horror storytelling, characters, and cinematic themes. We'd love to come on your podcast to talk horror influences, creating dark characters through music, and the intersection of horror films and metal.Welcome to Your HellHorror Scene emerged from the underground of Harrisburg, PA with one mission: to turn fear into music. Formed by a group of musicians obsessed with horror cinema, psychological thrillers, serial killers and the darker edges of industrial metal and rock, the band fuses theatrical storytelling with heavy, atmospheric soundscapes. Their songs explore themes of dread, hauntings, obsession, and the monsters—real or imagined—that live inside us all.On stage, Horror Scene transforms the venue into their own chilling universe. Fog, distorted visuals, blood-red lights, and immersive sound design create a multisensory experience that blurs the line between concert and horror film. Our lookback series at some of the best films of 2025 (#2025stillalive) continues this week with the sequel to Scott Derrickson's 2021 film The Black Phone. Picking up 4 years after the events of the first film, BLACK PHONE 2 tells a decisively scarier and more spiritually conscious story about Gwen and Finn making their way to a Christian camp in the mountains to confront the mysterious, haunting, lingering power of The Grabber. It's a film of disarming potency, with both a strong emotional and spiritual resonance, making it one of the strongest films of Derrickson's career. We're joined by FoG favorites Steven Beckley and Blake Collier, as well as welcoming a new guest to the show: long-time FoG community member Abby Dewsnap. From her first job right out of high school on a USO tour through Asia during the Vietnam War to Maude to screen queen classics, Adrienne Barbeau has costarred with snakes, rats, bugs, Swamp Things, a man-eating ape and Batman!Adrienne joins us to talk about iconic roles, larger than life co-stars (like Rodney and Reynolds) and how at 80, she's doing everything BUT riding into the sunset. At 19, she moved to New York City with a clear promise to herself: She would give theater her absolute all and settle for her backup plan, if need be, only at age 25. By then she was starring on Broadway as Hodel in Fiddler On The Roof with costar Bette Midler as Tzeitel.Adrienne shares firsthand stories from the birth of Grease (MUCH edgier at its inception), where she originated the role of Rizzo. She recalls the electric audience response during previews, and how, fueled by that enthusiasm, producers pushed forward despite harsh critical reviews. From there, Adrienne was discovered by Norman Lear and offered the part of Maude's daughter Carol in the first All In The Family Spinoff.  She found Bea Arthur to be an artist who exemplified collaborative grace,  always putting the show ahead of any individual performance.Adrienne opens up about her curious relationship with Burt Reynolds… in fact, a psychic saw her dating a man who was laying on a bearskin, even before she had met him or he had done that! She then shares stories from the chaotic set of  Cannonball Run, where she was trying to take the work seriously while many cast-mates were mostly taking alcohol. We talk about her collaborations with John Carpenter and George A. Romero. We delve into Cannibal Women in the Avocado Jungle of Death (which turns out to have surprising literary roots in Heart of Darkness). We play a sizzling round of IMDB Roulette and hear about Adrienne's latest project, the short film Oddities. The episode closes on a meaningful note as we say goodbye to Fritz in his final episode as co-host, and welcome Lisa Arch, who will be joining Weezy for our next episode. In current media--Weezy: Song Sung Blue, in theaters and streamingFritz: Marty Supreme, in theaters and streamingPath Points of Interest:Adrienne BarbeauThere Are Worse Things I Could Do by Adrienne BarbeauAdrienne Barbeau on WikipediaAdrienne Barbeau on IMDBAdrienne Barbeau on InstagramAdrienne Barbeau on FacebookOdditiesAdrienne Barbeau Amazon Author PageSong Sung BlueMarty Supreme

The Bowhunter Chronicles Podcast - Episode 387: He Shot my Buck Out From Under Me : Aaron Olsen Next Step Outdoors In this episode of the Bowhunter Chronicles podcast, Adam sits down to talk with Aaron Olsen of Next Step Outdoors to break down the real-world challenges of public land hunting, covering strategy, mindset, and decision-making from start to finish of a hard-fought hunt. The discussion explores balancing family life and hunting season, managing expectations, and adapting when conditions and pressure don't go as planned. A pivotal moment in the hunt sparks the core debate of the episode: while glassing a buck, another hunter spotted the same deer, slipped in, and ultimately shot it out from in front of them. What followed became a race to the buck—and a larger conversation about ethics, unwritten rules, and fair play on public land. Was the other hunter in the wrong, or was it simply part of hunting ground that belongs to everyone? Beyond that moment, the episode dives into missed opportunities, mid-hunt adjustments, weather challenges, deer movement, and spot-and-stalk versus ground hunting tactics. Mental toughness and patience are tested as pressure increases from other hunters, leading to honest reflections on luck vs skill, scouting, preparation, and lessons learned for future hunts. Topics Covered: Public land hunting strategy Hunting ethics and shared ground Deer movement and scouting Spot-and-stalk vs ground hunting Decision-making under pressure

A fog-thick highway. An empty box truck with no traction. One split-second swerve… and you're tumbling off the road into trees, glass, blood, and a headlight that can't cut through the gloom. What happens next isn't a simple winter driving nightmare—it's a survival horror encounter in the woods below the berm, where the fog feels alive, the air reeks of death, and something huge moves on two legs like it owns the night.Trapped in a wreck, hurt badly, and invisible to everyone rushing past overhead, you've got only a few options: climb, hide, or pray the thing outside doesn't find a way in. And if it does… the real terror isn't the crash. It's what came to the crash. If you love creature features, roadside horror, winter driving scares, and tight first-person survival stories with a vicious final sting… buckle up.I Hate Driving a Truck in Winter, but Not Just Because of the Weather by Michael KelsoYou can purchase books from this author here: https://geni.us/michaelkelsoauthorhttps://www.reddit.com/user/Horror_writer_1717/

You can find Christina Henry at christinahenry.net or on IG  @authorchristinahenry    In this week's episode, our focus is on houses that are so important to a story that they essentially become a character. When we started thinking about this idea, we realized that Chicago writer Christina Henry would be a perfect guest because her last two novels are focused on houses. Her most recent is titled The Place Where They Buried Your Heart and is about a neighborhood house that lures people in, causing heartache for neighbors as well as a sense of family among a handful of them. Prior to this novel, Christina wrote The House That Horror Built. We continue our look back at some of the strongest and most interesting horror films of 2025 (#2025stillalive) by examining a decisively unconventional and deeply affecting horror film called THE RULE OF JENNY PEN. Starring Geoffrey Rush and John Lithgow in powerhouse performances, The Rule of Jenny Pen tells the story of an elderly judge (Rush) who, following a debilitating stroke, finds himself in a long-term care facility that is menaced by a maniacal bully (Lithgow). As his physical condition worsens and the staff become increasingly less likely to intervene, he finds every inch of his perceived power and authority stripped away from him. It is a harrowing and thought-provoking film of truly unique impact. We're joined by a host of FoG friends and Final Girl gamers: Paula Deming, Meg Oak, and Julie Ahern. Together we unpack all of the various terrors and hopes that this film has to offer, resulting in one of our heartiest and most vigorous conversations ever. When federal agents kill civilians and public outrage sweeps the nation, who gets to define justified force and who gets to hold power accountable? The killings of Renée Good and Alex Pretti have sparked protests, national shutdowns, and fresh debate about what security should look like in America. Elizabeth Neumann, former assistant secretary for counterterrorism at the US Department of Homeland Security, joins Mark Labberton for a wide-ranging conversation about fear-based governance, moral responsibility, constitutional guardrails, and what faithful leadership looks like in a moment of political crisis. "Cruelty is a deterrent." In this episode with Mark Labberton, Neumann reflects on how Christian faith and public service shaped her national security career and why recent forceful immigration enforcement and lethal encounters challenge constitutional limits and moral clarity. Together they discuss the moral and political meaning of the Minneapolis killings, trauma and vocation, immigration enforcement and democratic consent, fear-driven leadership, and how citizens and faith communities respond when institutions break down. Episode Highlights "Cruelty is a deterrent." "I realized how much my hope and trust had been in man." "We wrapped the flag around the cross." "We see sufficiently, but not transparently." "This is not normal, and this is not okay." About Elizabeth Neumann Elizabeth Neumann is a national security expert and former assistant secretary for counterterrorism at the US Department of Homeland Security. She served across three presidential administrations, including senior roles during the George W. Bush and Trump administrations, and worked extensively on counterterrorism, prevention of political violence, and domestic extremism. A frequent public commentator and congressional witness, Neumann has become a leading voice on the moral and constitutional dangers of fear-driven governance. Her work bridges public policy, trauma studies, and Christian ethics, particularly where political power collides with faith commitments. She is the author of Kingdom of Rage, a deeply personal and analytical account of extremism, nationalism, and the cost of unexamined allegiance. Florida received some snow over the previous weekend, causing the Internet to erupt in conspiracy chants of climate change or weather modification. It never snows in Florida, most assume, despite a documented history dating back 200 years of occasional snow in the northern parts of the state. The same conspiracy hysteria erupted in 2024 too, including the idea that snow wasn't even real. Despite it having melted 12 months ago, the new snow, and a few flurries in Florida, is being called fake. As is the fog, ice, and even cold weather in general. In fact, some believe the cold weather itself is a conspiracy to freeze a giant monster in the ocean. This is all despite December, January, and February being the month of Old Man Winter, who has been beaten and buried with no memory or remorse. *The is the FREE archive, which includes advertisements. Last Fall, Italians turned out in massive numbers to support the Global Sumud Flotilla to Gaza and to stop weapons shipments to Israel. They held nationwide days of action to "Block Everything." The Unione Syndicale de Base (USB), a grassroots worker-led organization, supported those actions and is now building an international day of action on February 6 against militarization and for stronger social programs. Clearing the FOG speaks with Francesco Staccioli, who leads USB's international organizing, about the current conditions for workers in Italy, state repression, and the necessity of building a global movement against the rise of fascism. In this episode of Haunted History Chronicles, I'm joined by authors Andrea Janes and Leanna Renee Hieber, the minds behind America's Most Gothic, to explore the chilling truth behind Gothic tropes — and the real people whose lives were even darker than fiction.Fog-drenched mansions, oppressive family dynasties, forbidden rooms, madness, obsession and death… we tend to associate these with novels and cinema. But Andrea and Leanna reveal how many of the Gothic's most enduring themes are rooted in documented history, lived experience, and genuine tragedy. From vampire panics and cursed landscapes to women silenced, punished or driven to the edge, this conversation uncovers the unsettling overlap between reality, folklore and the supernatural and how these are not imagined horrors — they are echoes of lives shaped by fear, power, repression and loss.Brooding, atmospheric and deeply human, this episode asks why the Gothic continues to haunt us — and what it reveals about the darkness woven into history itself. Settle in… some stories are meant to linger. My Special Guests Are Leanna Renee Hieber and Andrea Janes:   Leanna Renee Hieber is an actress, playwright, artist and the award-winning, bestselling author of Gothic Victorian Fantasy novels for adults and teens such as the Strangely Beautiful, Eterna Files, Magic Most Foul and the bestselling Spectral City series. She grew up in rural Ohio inventing ghost stories, graduating with a BFA in Theatre and a focus in the Victorian Era from Miami University. Her books have been translated into many languages and have been selected for multiple book club editions. An enthusiastic public speaker about the history of the Gothic novel, she loves nothing more than a good ghost story and a finely tailored corset, wandering graveyards and adventuring around New York City, where she also works as a ghost tour guide for Boroughs of the Dead.Andrea Janes tells ghost stories for a living. From federal courtrooms to domestic violence cases that end in murder, this conversation exposes how “simple release” policies erode deterrence, inflate failure-to-appear rates, and transform reform into de facto decriminalization. We dissect the data, the politics, the money, and the narratives — and ask the question few are willing to confront: What happens when accountability disappears? This is not theory. This is not ideology. This is the fog — where crime thrives, consequences vanish, and silence becomes deadly.

In A Dirty History of Photography: Chemistry, Fog, and Empire (U Chicago Press, 2026), Professor Michelle Henning presents an environmental history of chemical photography through the lens of its deep connections to empire and industry. Dependent on the extractive practices of fossil-fueled industrial capitalism, chemical photography's emulsions and films were highly sensitive to polluted atmospheres, and photographic companies had to work hard to control this sensitivity. Drawing on histories of empire, coal, and chemistry and from the archives of British photographic manufacturer Ilford Limited, Professor Henning exposes the ways photography shaped how we see and understand the atmosphere while leaving its toxic residues in the air, soil, and water. Structured as thirty-six short chapters and with over seventy illustrations, this innovative book begins in interwar London, follows the supply of Ilford products to photographers on the West African coast, and considers photography as a military technology linked to the development of chemical warfare. Combining close readings of photographs with discussions of low-light, tropical, and aerial photography, Professor Henning examines the extraction and development of photographic materials, their role in the current environmental crisis, and how they have shaped experiences of time and the environment. This interview was conducted by Dr. Miranda Melcher whose book focuses on post-conflict military integration, understanding treaty negotiation and implementation in civil war contexts, with qualitative analysis of the Angolan and Mozambican civil wars. Waking Up to Narcissism
Narcissistic Off Switch: When Naming It Makes It Worse

Can you "turn off" a narcissist with one calm sentence? Tony unpacks the viral "narcissistic off switch" concept and discovers why tactics alone won't save you—but they might be exactly where real transformation begins. After stumbling upon behavioral expert Chase Hughes' framework for disarming manipulation using FOG (Fear, Obligation, Guilt), Tony initially resisted the idea. It felt too simple. But when he traced the concept back to its source, something shifted. The off switch isn't about changing them—it's about stopping the erosion of you. Through raw client stories and David Schnarch's differentiation work, Tony reveals why awareness doesn't land as insight to the emotionally immature—it lands as exposure. And exposure is a threat. What you'll learn: Recognize when FOG and CAVA (Control, Approval, Validation, Attention) are being used against you Understand why naming manipulation often backfires in deeply bonded relationships Apply Schnarch's four points of balance to stay grounded during accusations Stop defending a "reflected sense of self" and start building one that's truly yours Embrace outcome independence—saying your truth without needing their agreement Drawing from 20+ years as a marriage and family therapist specializing in emotionally immature dynamics, Tony bridges tactical awareness with the deeper work of differentiation. 00:00 Introduction and Social Media Plugs 01:11 The Lost Episode: Narcissistic Off Switch 05:27 Chase Hughes and the Concept of Prediction 16:11 Understanding Manipulation: FOG and KAVA 18:33 Real-Life Examples: Navigating Emotional Manipulation 28:46 Understanding Unhealthy Responses 29:24 The Power of Differentiated Response 30:18 Challenges in Relationships 30:42 Contrasting Views on Manipulation 32:09 Real-Life Examples of Manipulation 37:22 The Concept of Differentiation 43:35 Projection and Emotional Immaturity 46:50 The Four Points of Balance 50:53 Gridlock and Constructing Your Crucible 54:22 Final Thoughts on Emotional Autonomy Contact Tony at contact@tonyoverbay.com to learn more about his Emotional Architects men's group. The occupied islands of Okinawa, formerly the Ryukyu Kingdom, have been heavily militarized since the end of World War II. 70% of the US military bases in Japan are in Okinawa, which represents less that 1% of Japan's landmass. In preparation for a hot war on China, the US and it's client state, Japan, are building more bases, particularly on islands close to Taiwan. Clearing the FOG speaks with Japanese-American activist Rachel Clark about her recent tour of Okinawa where she visited the islands. Clark speaks about the history of the militarization of Japan, including forced changes to its pacifist Constitution, and the similarities between media propaganda in Japan and the US. First show of the second year on VBR. Thanks to everyone that has tuned in or downloaded over the last 12 months. Weekly shows are intense and come round so quickly. This week's show is a new music show for January. It's a real mixed bag, I'd only bought 16 new tracks and half of those were real chunky house tracks. You need about 25 for a two hour show so I needed to pad the first hour out but had no idea what to go with. The mix starts with three new tracks on the soulful deep vibe. I then cracked the vinyl out and played two of my favourite Soulfuric tunes. We stayed old skool and vinyl for the next four tracks before coming back up to date with Jay Vegas remake of another old classic from the mid 90's. One of my favourite tunes from back then. Remakes are the order of the day and we pick another with a beefed up version of The Fog's "Been A Long Time".Once we get past Yolanda Be Cool it's all new, up to the last track. We first pay a visit to Old London town and those lumpy bumpy UKG beats. The rest of the mix is the new house sound I'm hearing in the underground clubs. My fav is the Haritas track, absolute mayhem, love it.We finish off with another classic from the 00's - Shakedown - At Night.Unfortunately my computer crashed just as the last track was mixing in. It meant my show ended abruptly five minutes early and the recording stopped. I had to stitch it back together again.Next boat party for those of you in Sydney is March 6th, a Friday night cruise from 8pm to Midnight on the harbour. It is an experience being out on the water surrounded by the bright city lights. More info on it's way.Tracklisting:1: Sakro - Beautiful Music2: Sakro - Real Deal3: Richard Earnshaw, Ridney, Jovonn - House Is The Message4: Mindinflunce pres The Solifd Gold Playaz - The Best Part (Copyright Mix)5: Mambana - No Reason (DJ Meri Vox)6: Jiva - I Realised (Joey Negro Mix)7: Hardrive - No Cure8: Agent Sumo - 24 Hours9: 2Risque - Let The Music Take Control10: Jay Vegas - Raise Your Hands11: Wh0, The Fog - Been A Long Time (Extended Mix)12: Taka Boom, Chaka Khan - Groove Like That (DJ Onionz Mix)13: Yolanda Be Cool - Get Down (Ft Traxman)14: Reach (UK) - Waiting (Lau.ra Extended Remix)15: Fer BR - The Butcher (Extended Mix)16: Todd Terry, Low Steppa, Loop Da Loop - Something Goin' On17: Luca Guerieri - Latin Soul18: Mau P - Like I Like It19: Alaia & Gallo - Lipstick20: Matt Shannahan - Feel The Rhythm21: Hatiras - Hypnotised (Extended)22: Fedde Le Grand - Liquid Music23: Shakedown - At NightEnjoy!

On January 3, the Trump administration authorized a large-scale military invasion in Venezuela that killed one hundred people. The US bombed infrastructure in and around Caracas, and in other states, and kidnapped President Nicolas Maduro and First Combatant (aka First Lady) Cilia Flores. Outright lies are being reported in the corporate media on a massive scale to justify crimes committed by the US military and to mislead the public. Clearing the FOG speaks with activist and policy analyst Leonardo Flores. Flores addresses many of the common myths and provides the facts you need to understand that President Maduro is still the President of Venezuela, that the US-backed far-right opposition led by Maria Corinna Machado has little power within Venezuela, that the Venezuelan government and the Bolivarian Revolution remain strong and united and that gains claimed by the Trump administration are exaggerated. He also discusses what people in the US are doing to mobilize in support of President Maduro and First Lady Flores. For more information, visit PopularResistance.org
