We learned about our cabin and cabin rules, now lets talk about what you can do around the ship, and what facilities you might be able to use.

Once you’re signed on to your ship, that ship is not only where you work, it is also your home for 3 to 8 months at a time. Onboard you will be provided with everything you need to live a comfortable life when you’re not working. We will cover all aspects of life onboard over the next 2 episodes but right now let’s start with your home away from home, your cabin.

You're first day onboard as a crew member is not as simple as just walking on and going to work, far from it. Joining day for new crew, and returning crew, is a long and busy day, and usually is one of the hardest days you will have during your contract. Cruising is more popular now than it ever has been. Cruise lines continue to build new ships, and by 2025 there will be more than 30 million global cruise ship passengers each year. In the next 3 to 5 years, almost every mainstream cruise line will be building more than two new cruise ships, and many cruise lines are producing 4 or more. What that means for you is an opportunity. But working onboard a cruise ship is not the same as working "on land" at home. There are many things to consider.
