You Can Sit With Us #5 // On Two Divorces, Deconstruction, and Fearing Not with Derek Webb

Connect with Derek: derekwebb.com Listen to his podcast, The Airing of Grief: https://www.theairingofgrief.com Listen to Fingers Crossed: https://www.derekwebb.com/fingerscrossed This is for the church - that we would hear these stories and allow them to challenge any legalism, condemnation, and fears we have working in us, and give us practical feedback and insight so that we might better love like Jesus. This is also for the not-church - my aim here is to show you some small glimpse of the Jesus I know. And to be honest with you, I don’t know everything about Him. But I do know He is not an unreasonable tyrant, political figurehead, or a finger-wagging god trying to catch you in every mistake. He is the source of my own healing and saved my life, and everyone is welcome in Him. I’m sorry that those of us who try to follow Him fail so badly and so often at loving like He does. I hope this helps. To everyone listening: you are welcome here. And you are welcome in Jesus. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/everydaygrace/support

You Can Sit With Us #4 // On Feeling Invisible and What Homeless Shelters are Really Like with Dan Barr

Play Episode Listen Later Jul 6, 2018 54:14

My friend Dan talks to us about losing his wife and his home, and the two-year period of homelessness that followed. Have we thought about how our homeless ministries might feel to the folks on the other side of the donations? If not, Dan's story and insights will prompt us to do so. Helping is good, but may we learn to help better. (The timing on the recording is a little off on this one in places, folks! You might hear a little overlapping and echoing, so in spots it sounds like we are interrupting each other. That's not the way the actual conversation went, just the way it ended up recording. Sorry about that. Thanks for being kind, we are new here!) --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/everydaygrace/support
