Raising a Critical Thinker

Parents, by now your child’s school should have informed you of your child’s reading comprehension abilities. If not, ask for it. The reading data might show that your child’s reading is on grade level. But what if it’s not. Don’t panic. I’m here to help and I’ve invited a special guest to co-host with me.

It’s the first day of school. Your child comes home super excited with her backpack filled with teacher expectations, papers for YOU to sign, and flyers about a whole lot of stuff. Yeah, it’s been a good day. By day four, she’s feeling a little overwhelmed, and perhaps you too. Why? Your child might be experiencing summer hangover. Summer hangover simply means your child’s brain has been on vacation – you know, passively entertained with hours of social media, music, YouTube, and TV. Mm-hmm. So, let’s readjust because it’s back to school. Turn the TV off! Unplug. Summer’s over.
