OK, if you're honest with me, I'll be honest with you: How many podcasts, emails, newsletters, trainings, etc.etc.etc. are on your “to listen/watch/read” list? Last I checked, I had 103 podcast episodes downloaded. Kate told me her Goodreads “want to read” list currently sits at 398 books. Will I listen to some of those podcasts? Absolutely. Will Kate read many of those books? 100%. But there's always going to be more. Don't get me wrong, consuming information is necessary! But at a certain point all that consumption can start to feel like just another task you can check off your list. It feels productive. And sometimes it is. And sometimes you space out after listening to the same 30 seconds of the podcast 3x over and realize you “listened” to it … but you didn't do anything with it. Heck, sometimes I don't even remember what I just heard. So, Kate and I decided to share our best tips for unplugging on this week's episode of the Build Your Copywriting Business podcast. Why? Well, sometimes the best thing you can do for your business isn't reading another marketing or copywriting tip. It's not downloading another guide. It's not listening to podcasts (I know, shooting ourselves in the foot a little there …) Sometimes the best thing is turning it all off for a bit and letting your brain breathe. Now excuse me while I go stare out a window for 10 minutes.

In this Season 14 review (episode 376) Andrea Samadi revisits highlights from her interview with Dr. John Ratey about the science of exercise, nutrition, and social connection for brain health and longevity. The episode explains Peter Attia's rule for foundational fitness, warns against sugar dependence and fat phobia, and presents the three biggest levers for healthy aging: exercise, diet, and social connection, plus practical tips to track and apply these habits. Takeaway: prioritize consistent movement, whole foods, and meaningful connection to boost mood, memory, and overall well-being. On today's episode #376, we review PART 2 of our 2021 interview with Dr. John Ratey and will learn: ✔ 3 Science-backed keys to brain health: Exercise, Nutrition and Connection ✔ What is Attia's Rule that allows us to dive deep into diet and nutrition? ✔ Practical Tips for improving consistent movement, our diet and social connection to boost overall well-being and brain health. Welcome back to SEASON 14 of The Neuroscience Meets Social and Emotional Learning Podcast, where we connect the science-based evidence behind social and emotional learning and emotional intelligence training for improved well-being, achievement, productivity and results—using what I saw as the missing link (since we weren't taught this when we were growing up in school), the application of practical neuroscience. I'm Andrea Samadi, and seven years ago, launched this podcast with a question I had never truly asked myself before: (and that is) If productivity and results matter to us—and they do now more than ever—how exactly are we using our brain to make them happen? Most of us were never taught how to apply neuroscience to improve productivity, results, or well-being. About a decade ago, I became fascinated by the mind-brain-results connection—and how science can be applied to our everyday lives. That's why I've made it my mission to bring you the world's top experts—so together, we can explore the intersection of science and social-emotional learning. We'll break down complex ideas and turn them into practical strategies we can use every day for predictable, science-backed results. Episode 376: PART 2 Featuring Dr. John Ratey For today's Episode 376, we continue with PART 2 of our review with Dr. John Ratey, covering the first health staple that we know is scientifically proven to boost our physical and mental health: exercise. We first met Dr. Ratey on Episode 116[i] (back in March 2021) on his book “The Revolutionary New Science of Exercise and the Brain.” Dr. Ratey is also an Associate Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School and an internationally recognized expert in Neuropsychiatry. Dr. Ratey has published over 60 peer-reviewed articles and 11 books in 17 languages. You'll notice that around the time of the pandemic, in 2020, our interviews took a turn towards health and wellness, and to stay on track, I created a framework of our Top 5 Health Staples on Episode 87[ii], which eventually evolved into our Top 6 Health Staples.

At The Show Up Dad Foundation, we often say “time flies,” and I truly feel it in my home. My 19-year-old is busy editing her photography, my 12-year-old is deep into the metaverse, and my 10-year-old is having a blast with Marvel universe characters. In these precious moments, I strive to be present and engaged with my kids. Here are three ways I try to savor our time together:1. **Engage Fully:** I remind myself to cherish every moment with my 10-year-old. Studying the word of God helps me understand what we owe our children according to scripture. They are a gift from God, and I want to honor that.2. **Unplug from Technology:** With three kids, life can get hectic. I find that disconnecting from tech leads to more meaningful interactions and allows us to reclaim our time together.3. **Create Joyful Memories:** Prioritize fun activities, whether it's a weekend outing, a museum visit, or trying something new together. These shared experiences create lasting memories that we'll cherish for years to come.To learn more about what God asks us to do as parents, DM us for a free download of our discipleship study on parenting as a ministry. The end of the year will be here before we know it - and now's the time to make some smart tax moves before December 31st. A growing trend among young people shows them unplugging from screens and rediscovering real-world experiences. And a growing number of Americans are seeking comfort and connection through A-I companions — but the trend comes with serious risks.
Week 2 of Coach Wellbeing Month, and we are joined by Durham McInnis from Core Advantage to talk to the physical side of wellbeing. We are also joined by Luke Lehmann as he talks to us before his 24-hour run marathon in support of SmackTalk next week, and his call to action to Unplug from social media for 24 hours on the 24th October.

Most men today are overworked, overstimulated, and spiritually malnourished. We chase productivity but neglect silence. We build muscle but forget the soul. In this powerful continuation of our conversation from part 1, we cut through the noise and get back to the basics of what it means to live as a Catholic warrior. Fr. Dom shares hard truths about what men must reclaim if we're going to lead our families and defend the Faith. From the forgotten power of fasting and retreats to the reality of priestly warfare and spiritual combat, this episode calls every man to rise and take his place in the ranks of Christ's army.We talk about everything from cold plunges and physical discipline to the beauty and meaning of the Latin Mass vestments, the sacredness of the priesthood, and why knowledge of the liturgy can reignite your love for the Eucharist. Fr. Dom also opens up about his athletic past, his experiences in triathlons and endurance racing, and how physical discipline shapes spiritual virtue. And perhaps most powerfully, he breaks down the priest's calling with raw honesty: what it costs, what it demands, and why true priesthood is a battlefield. Every man, husband, father, or priest, is called to be a warrior for souls. You'll hear:Why men must take at least one silent retreat every year. How fasting, prayer, and physical struggle forge spiritual discipline. The danger of spiritual laziness among priests and laity alike. What it really means to discern the priesthood as a man of God.Why we must pray and fast for our priests more than ever. The Church doesn't need passive men. She needs holy warriors.CHALLENGE: Find time this month to enter into silence with God. Unplug completely. No phone. No distractions. Just Scripture, a journal, and prayer. Let Him speak. And then—fast and pray for your parish priest this week.PRODUCTS / REFERENCES MENTIONED:Exodus 90 (ascetic men's program)FSSP (Priestly Fraternity of St. Peter)Calvary (2014 film, starring Brendan Gleeson)3 POWERFUL QUOTES:“If you want to fight in a supernatural battle, to be a warrior for Christ, you need to know that you will die. Few are called, fewer are chosen.”“You can be a vicious warrior and still be gentle and kind and have peace and joy. That's what it means to be a Christian soldier.”“Take a retreat. Reconnect with your Captain. Reestablish your lines with the General. You can't fight if you've lost contact with your Commander.”KEY TAKEAWAY: A Catholic man must embrace silence, fasting, and prayer as weapons of spiritual warfare. Without discipline of body and soul, he is unarmed in battle.Send us a text Support the showPlease prayerfully consider supporting the podcast on our Buy Me A Coffee page. to help grow the show to reach as many men as possible! What if I told you that you could make $131,522 in two months while mostly offline? That's exactly what happened during my summer "ghost mode," and I'm spilling all the details on how I pulled it off. This summer was supposed to be my full unplug season. We're talking lake swims, cottage mornings, road trips through Ontario and New York State, and honestly having no clue what day it was half the time. I posted two Instagram photo dumps total, did zero launches, and stayed off the content hamster wheel completely. But here's the plot twist: my business didn't just survive without me—it thrived. We brought in over $131K in July and August alone, did 490 sales with a mix of new and returning customers, and everything ran like clockwork. So if you've ever wondered what it actually looks like to take real time off AND keep the money flowing, this episode breaks down exactly how I did it.I'm getting into the nitty-gritty of the systems that made this possible, why paid ads aren't optional if you want consistent revenue (yeah, I said it), and the few CEO-level projects I did tackle during my "off" time. Plus, I'm sharing what this means for you and how to build a business that doesn't fall apart the moment you step away from your laptop. What You'll Learn:How I generated $131,522 in revenue during July and August while mostly offlineWhy paid ads are the real engine behind "sales on autopilot" (and the exact numbers behind my summer ad spend)The power of stacked payments and recurring revenue for financial stabilityThe difference between day-to-day chaos work and strategic CEO-level projectsHow to build infrastructure that lets you actually take time off without everything falling apartWhat systems you need to stop being the bottleneck in your own businessThe mindset shift from "keeping up" to building leverageYour Next Steps:AI Dream Team, Start Here: https://gemmabonhamcarter.com/aiworkshopTwo-Hour Brand Book: https://gemmabonhamcarter.com/brandBlack Friday in a Box: https://gemmabonhamcarter.com/black-fridayWork with Me: https://www.gemmabonhamcarter.com/programsWhat I Use to Run My 7-Figure Business: https://gemmabonhamcarter.com/toolsConnect on Social: https://www.instagram.com/gemma.bonhamcarter Support the show

"Let's be honest—most of us are more plugged in than ever before. Our phones, laptops, and social feeds are always within reach, and it feels like the world never stops. But here's the thing: sometimes the best way to move forward is to step back. Today, I want to talk about the power of a digital detox—why unplugging, even just for a little while, can recharge your mind, boost your creativity, and help you reconnect with what matters most."Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/motivational-mondays--4180173/support.
Hey — have you ever wondered if it's actually possible to do nothing anymore? Lately I've been thinking about how my time is filled up with constant doing, and how the second boredom appears we reach for our phones to fill it. What if there's a different answer: simply being present, without an agenda? I want to tell you about a time when I did nothing and it mattered. I remember being sick years ago, walking to a hillside with a pad, paints and water, and sitting there for an hour and a half just taking in the view and painting. I wasn't thinking about anything, and for the first time in ages, I felt genuinely connected to that moment. I even framed that little piece and stuck the story on the back so my son will have it one day — little reminders like that matter. These days the challenge is our devices. We're so used to constant input that silence feels strange — maybe even a bit scary. But I don't think we're meant to be constantly engaged. There's a gentle kind of flow where nothing is taxing: just noticing, breathing, and being with what's around you. Cats do it naturally; we could try to relearn it. I'm going to make space this week to unplug and find a quiet spot in nature just to be, and I'd love for you to try it too. Don't make it complicated — sit somewhere new, or even look at something familiar with fresh eyes, take a few deep breaths, and see what comes. If you do it, tell me how it felt. I'll report back on what I learn. Thanks for being here with me on this little experiment in slowing down. If this resonated, give it a go — step away from the screen for a moment and notice the world. I'll catch you next time. Let's talk about social media, overconsumption and its effect on our mental health!
The Ultimate Unplug | The Todd Coconato Show To go to our website, please go to www.pastortodd.org. And to help us in the mission that we're talking about, please go to www.toddcoconato.com/gift. Have you been feeling weary, worn down, or discouraged lately? That's not just coincidence—it's a strategy of the enemy to try and silence God's people in this critical hour. On today's show, Pastor Todd is talking about how the devil is working overtime to make Christians feel tired, beaten down, and plugged into the world's distractions. But God has already equipped us for the ultimate unplug—to rise above the noise, the fake news, and the lies of the culture, and to be fully about the Father's business. This isn't just about surviving. It's about stepping into your greatest hour of faith. Pastor Todd will share why the weariness you're feeling is actually a sign that breakthrough is near, and how God is preparing His remnant to stand strong in the days ahead. Don't miss today's show—it's a word in season that will strengthen your spirit, lift your hope, and remind you of the authority you carry in Christ!
They control the narrative in order to control you. What happens when you stop feeding the fear machine? In this raw, no-BS conversation, returning guest Ole Dammegård shares the biggest lessons from 40+ years down the “rabbit hole,” why he's stepped back from the noise, and how he now chooses to live: less screen, more heart, more nature, more courage. We get into fear programming, AI deepfakes, media choreography, saying NO without hate, and his new “light-minded” sanctuary project in Bali.If you're tired of panic headlines and ready to reclaim your attention, this one's for you. What you'll hear, from Ole's perspective:How fear is manufactured, and why he stopped trusting anything that arrives through a “smart” screenAuthority & algorithm “mind control” 101 (simple tools used daily, not sci-fi)From outrage to inner balance: living from heart, not headlinesCourage over compliance: the school-yard bully rule for geopoliticsWhy he's building Selalu (a sanctuary of light-minded friends) in Bali, and what “community without committees” looks like
I ask the question - Time to Disconnect? Unplugging or disconnecting can be very helpful, but don't make it a Lifestyle, just a temporary break from the world, boss, spouse or children! Feeling overwhelmed? Just say BRB (Be Right Back!) Amy talks with CEA Chief Mitigation Officer for the California Earthquake Authority Janiele Maffei about their grant program to brace and bolt older homes to their foundation to protect against earthquakes. The show closes with Amy's conversation with author Richard Simon and his latest book ‘Unplug: How to break up with your smartphone.'

Episode Summary:Welcome back! In today's Friday Rant, I dive into something simple but powerful: laughter. When was the last time you really laughed? As adults, we get so caught up in chasing numbers, optimizing every second, and living for social media validation that we forget to enjoy life. We're “on” 24/7—talking about revenue, followers, units—but missing the small, real moments that actually make life meaningful. This is your reminder to step away from the grind and rediscover the joy, spontaneity, and fun that made you come alive as a kid.Key Highlights:- The Trap of Optimization: In trying to maximize everything, we've minimized joy.- Social Media Illusion: Likes, followers, and business metrics won't replace genuine laughter.- Rediscover Play: From comedy specials to golf with friends, simple joys matter more than any hustle stat.- Unplug to Reconnect: Disconnection from screens is the gateway to connection with people and yourself.- Laughter as Medicine: Real laughs with your kids, partner, or friends are what you'll remember—not the revenue sheet.Final Thoughts:Your homework this week: seek laughter, chase joy, and find moments that remind you what life is really about. Because at the end of the day, money fades, followers fade, but laughter and love don't.
The Social Contagion: Viral Ideologies & the Culture War for America's Future What happens when identity becomes ideology and information becomes a weapon? The Social Contagion: Viral Ideologies & The Culture War for America's Future is a fearless cultural deep-dive into the crisis of belief shaping American politics, media, and identity. UnplugHow to Break Up with Your Phone and Reclaim Your Lifeby Richard Simon But what does long term freedom from your phone really look like—and is it sustainable for people with… you know… jobs? In UNPLUG: How to Break Up with Your Phone and Reclaim Your Life (Workman; 6/17/25) Richard Simon shows that it is—through his own experience and many others', including but not limited to: an anesthesiologist, a software engineer, a social media marketer, a school principal, a law partner, a financial analyst, a chess grandmaster, and a Major League Baseball player who credits dropping the phone with big improvements in both his game and his family life. Of course, professional commitments are just one piece of the puzzle. When Simon first decided to go phone-free for a year as an experiment, the toughest sell was his wife. What if one of the kids got sick, or she needed to reach him in an emergency? What about shared grocery lists, the banking app, and all the little ways that our smartphones seem to make family life run more smoothly? Spoiler alert: she came around to it. And like all the other subjects of this book, Simon reports that his personal relationships blossomed in the absence of screens. After a year of detox, Simon relaxed his personal smartphone ban, but still keeps his phone off by default. Almost all of the other subjects he profiled resumed their smartphone use in some capacity. Many were able to enforce the boundaries they set during the detox; others are back where they started. But there are valuable lessons to learn fromBecome a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/arroe-collins-unplugged-totally-uncut--994165/support.
Sometimes we treat doing nothing like a crime. Like we've failed somehow if we're not productive, not checking things off, not improving ourselves every waking second. But here's the truth: doing nothing isn't lazy. It's necessary.Rest isn't always sleeping or meditating or going on a wellness retreat. Sometimes, it's lying on the floor and staring at the ceiling. Scrolling without purpose. Sitting in silence with a cup of something warm. Not fixing anything. Not solving your life. And when you live with depression, even just surviving the day is a full-time job. So if all you did today was breathe, that's not nothing — that's enough.Doing nothing can be an act of quiet rebellion in a world obsessed with hustle. It's a way of saying: My worth isn't measured by my output. I'm allowed to exist without constantly performing wellness or productivity. So today, if you need it — take the pause. Unplug. Un-do. Un-become for a while. You don't owe anyone your energy, especially when you're running low.You don't need to fix yourself to be worthy.Rest isn't laziness — it's an act of self-acceptance.Doing nothing can be an art form, especially when you're struggling.Always look forward to something- no matter how small. Episode 76 Today's guest is Allie Marie Smith, life coach, founder and creator of Wonderfully Made and author of the new book, Social Media Reset: A 30 Day Guided Journey to Unplug, Reconnect with God and Reclaim Your Joy. In this episode, Allie and I talk about how so many young girls don't have a true understanding of who they are in the eyes of God. That can cause them to turn to other things to feel worthy—alcohol, drugs, promiscuity and even social media. The problem is, of course, that those things don't satisfy. Since 2010 the suicide rates for young people ages 10-24 has gone up 62% and over 145% among girls. Some teen girls are spending more than 40 hours a week on social media. These numbers should make us sit up and take notice! Allie calls this a technologically induced mental health crisis. Alli's response to this crisis has been to share her own story of a mental health crisis and then to offer help to girls just like her to have something better. She wants to help them understand the truth of their worth to God in a world that is trying to tell them otherwise. In this episode, we discuss having radical boundaries with social media, how social media can be used for good, but it can be used for bad or can cause harm, and how social media can keep us from being present in the moment. We encourage you to delay social media for your kids as long as possible and explain why you should. This is an invitation to step away from the digital world and live the life we were intended to live—deeply connected to God and others. We are inviting you and the people you love to an unplugged and flourishing life. Please accept this invitation to lean into something better and start by tuning into this honest, helpful and hopeful episode! Welcome to Day 9 of the Young with CJ program, where we're turning your bedroom into a true sanctuary for sleep and recovery. In this episode, CJ unpacks two powerful (and often overlooked) sleep upgrades: aromatherapy and reducing EMF (electromagnetic field) exposure. These small, intentional shifts can dramatically improve your quality of sleep, stress levels, and even support fat loss—without the need for pills or gadgets. What You'll Learn:Aromatherapy: More Than Just a Pleasant Scent Essential oils don't just smell good—they interact directly with your limbic system, the part of your brain that regulates emotions, memory, and hormones. When used before bed, certain oils can calm your nervous system, reduce stress, and promote deeper sleep.CJ's top essential oils for sleep and stress:Lavender – reduces anxiety, lowers heart rateChamomile – calming, promotes relaxationYlang Ylang – may reduce blood pressure and soothe tensionBest ways to use:Add 5–10 drops in a diffuserUse pillow sprays or apply diluted oil to neck or feetAdd essential oils to a warm bath before bedEMFs & Sleep: The Hidden Disturbance Your phone, Wi-Fi, and screens may be quietly disrupting your body's melatonin production, increasing stress at the cellular level, and throwing off your circadian rhythm.CJ explains how EMFs:Disrupt your ability to fall asleep and stay asleepLower cellular communication and hormone balanceTrigger hunger, reduce fat-burning, and increase stressSimple solutions to reduce EMFs at night:Switch off your Wi-Fi before bedKeep devices at least 6 feet away from your bedUse airplane mode on your phone overnightUnplug electronics not in useTry CJ's iPhone red light trick to reduce blue light exposureKey Takeaways:Scents influence your brain. Use calming oils to signal your body it's time to rest.EMFs sabotage melatonin. Less EMF = better sleep and hormone function.Your bedroom should be a recovery zone. Not a tech hub.Sleep drives fat loss and energy. Protect it like your most valuable asset. One new habit can reset your nights. Try one tonight and feel the difference.5 Things You Can Start Doing Today:Use lavender or chamomile essential oil in a diffuser 30 minutes before bed.Switch your Wi-Fi off before you sleep.Put your phone on airplane mode and place it across the room.Unplug any electronic devices near your bed.Enable red light mode on your phone or use dim red lights in your bedroom.Final Thought: Better sleep isn't complicated—it's just often overlooked. Aromatherapy and EMF reduction are low-effort, high-impact tools to support your recovery, energy, and longevity.

In this episode of the Truth From The Stand podcast, I'm joined by my buddy Cody D'Acquisto for a conversation that digs deep into more than just treestand setups and big bucks on the wall. Cody's fresh off the road and gearing up for his upcoming road show, and we break down what it means to really unplug from the noise and lean into the lessons the woods — and the mats — have to offer. We get into how elimination and identification shape our hunting decisions, why mastering the fundamentals matters whether you're tightening a choke in jiu jitsu or slipping an arrow through a buck's ribs, and how the right mindset can make or break your hunt before you ever lace up your boots. Cody shares what he's seeing out there, where he's headed next, and why the pressure we carry these days sometimes needs to be left at the truck. It's an honest look at discipline, flow state, and why the best lessons still come from just showing up, putting in the work, and staying present enough to enjoy the whole damn ride. WHAT TO EXPECT FROM PODCAST 449 Unplugging from tech is tougher — and more rewarding — than folks think. Road shows give Cody fresh lessons and real connections with hunters everywhere. Cutting dead spots and doubling down on good ground makes all the difference. Mastery, whether on the mats or in the stand, comes down to intent and time under tension. Staying present and trusting flow beats overthinking every time. Hunting is unpredictable — persistence and grit usually beat raw talent. Cody's fired up for the next hunt, the next roll, and the next chance to learn.
