This book follows a father and his daughter as they dream up different things they can build together, and helps to open up our mind to the fact that our imagination is a key we hold which can open the doors to creating nearly anything. After we read the book, we discuss how our minds can help us build everything from love to fortresses, as well as how working together with others can accomplish a whole lot.
In our second episode of The Story Stage, we read “Grumpy Monkey” by Suzanne Lang & Illustrated by Max Lang. This book follows a Chimpanzee named Jim who wakes up on the wrong side of the bed, and all of the friends who try to cheer him up along the way. After we read the book, we discuss the importance of recognizing and accepting the way we're feeling, and chat a bit about how we can be a good friend to someone else we know who may be feeling grumpy or sad.
In our debut episode of The Story Stage, we tell a Story Stage original, “Show and Tell Day”.This story follows a young boy named Miles who deals with some anxiety over getting up in front of his class for show & tell, and how he copes with these feelings using a variety of calming strategies. After we read the book, we discuss a bit about the calming strategies miles used, what we can do when we feel our own negative emotions and how to identify calming strategies that work for us.
