When you think about the 1990's your mind probably goes to Alternative Rock, grunge and Nirvana, right? Mine goes to this week's nominee who not only was part of a fabulous team at Z104.5 The Edge radio station in Tulsa during this era, but he helped launch some of the best concerts Tulsa has ever seen. We're catching up and trying to keep up with Ray Seggern.
When county music star Garth Brooks announced he was coming to Utah, 50-thousand tickets sold out in less than 30-minutes. It was Ticketmaster's fastest stadium sell out in US history... So Garth Brooks called up Utah's country music station Z104 and pitched a dive bar show. The catch? No tickets are for sale to the low-key concert. But that didn't stop scammers from selling bogus tickets... Country music station Z104 Morning Show Host and Program Director Deb Turpin joins us live to explain the Garth Brooks scams going around and how they are combating them. This is the final Saturday Rewind of Show for 2020, but we will be back in 2021 with some fun old content from back in the Z104 days. But, this week's show is still packed with great content from both past and present, including the most requested rewind of all time, Connie and Fish's version of "Baby It's Cold Outside". It also includes another famous Connie and Fish moment when Connie ordered a cheesecake off of QVC. But the featured rewind of the week was a little known Connie and Fish segment. It's when Fish shared his want for a mystical drink that only people from Boston would know about, the Boston Tea Bag. Connie had told him about the drink years ago and we were recalling Fish's desire to visit boston so he could experience the tea bag.

This week's episode features RRCA running coach and former DJ at Z104.5 the Edge here in Tulsa, Cindy Knull. This episode was a real treat for me as we dive into Cindy's passion for running at a young age and then take a stroll down memory lane of year's gone by when talking about Cindy's past as a radio DJ for a rock station here in Tulsa, Oklahoma. I spent so many hours as a youth pretending to be a DJ and know many of you probably did the same thing. Cindy has run more than 20 half marathons and has completed 7 marathons and 2 50K races, which makes her an official ultra runner and we even had some good discussion on what it would take for Cindy to take the next steps to complete a 50 miler. Cindy has taken her running passion to the next level as she recently completed her RRCA certification and desires to help other runners in their personal running journey. This is a very special thing to obtain and I know that Cindy is very excited for this next season in her life. This episode is sure to motivate and inspire you as you take on your next challenge that may seem to big. Cindy imparts a lot of wisdom for runners and shares that it is important to just enjoy the journey and run the mile you are in and not worry about what is coming up next. It is so important to keep focus on the here and now instead of worrying about the past or even the future ahead. Cindy shares a valuable lesson in where anyone can accomplish anything if they put their minds to it. Of course it doesn't hurt when a friend challenges you to run a distance you have zero desire to complete and it turns out to be the catalyst to change your life forever. Also be sure to check out my recent nomination by Feedspot as one of the top 10 ultra running podcasts. Extremely honored for this opportunity.
