Welcome to a reading of Conflicted, by Dom Capossela a story about a sixteen-year-old mystic-warrior conflicted internally by her self-imposed alienation from God - her spiritual wellspring - and externally, by the forces of darkness seeking her death or ruination.
22 Chapter Twenty Two Conflicted by Dom Capossela
Dee meets and subdues evil and follows the chain to a second ferocious confrontation.
In this Chapter, Seven, we’ll meet two Boston police officers who, on Dr. Mike’s recommendation, bring an unusual case to Dee. Dee returns with them to Boston where she gets a makeover in preparation for what may be her first battle against Plan B.
In this, Chapter Six, we meet Dr. Mike, her new psychiatrist. He ends their first interview by asking Dee a startling question that prematurely launches Dee into battle.
In Chapter Five Dee has her first conversation with her parents since her abduction. Later she met Isabel Guffy, attorney for her recently killed beloved aunt, Clara. Auntie Clara has left Dee a fortune. Dee asks Isabel Guffy, her aunt’s attorney, to take her on as a client. Isabel is delighted.
In Chapter Four Diana engages in a meditative introspection during which she makes life decisions (to set up her own apartment in Boston, to change her name to Dee) that will greatly upset her parents. The introspection reveals a good deal of the source of Diana’s strength and her self-imposed distancing from God.
In Chapter Two, we were introduced to Diana’s dream. And we watched as she begins to feel withdrawal pains. In Chapter Three, we return to the dream/nightmare and learn something dreadful. And we watch Diana fall happy prey to a worldwide addiction.
Chapter Two begins with Diana waking from her first sleep at the recovery house. We listen as Diana tells of a light-hearted picnic turning dark. Very dark. We get a glimpse of Ivy’s identity, learning she is from the Fantasy world of Diana’s childhood. When Diana ends her stay at the recovery house, Ivy and the Fantasy world will no longer be part of the story but they leave behind some deep background relevant to Diana’s search for an identity now that her transgressions have separated her from her spiritual side.
Hello, my friends. Welcome to my reading of Conflicted. Chapter One finds sixteen-year-old Diana in a hallucination following which she tells a fantastic story that we, as readers, don’t know to credit or not. In any case, kidnapped and forcibly addicted to heroin, Diana agrees to enter a recovery program.
