Fantasy has been tied up in the right from the start, in the LOTR we see a Catholic Spenglerian world in constant decline from the days of yore, with the desire to innovate and the Faustian impulse seen as the essence of evil. It's a nostalgic backwards looking genre, and it's enduring popularity on the right is hardly a surprise, as we can see in the naming of various flashy new corporations of the evil empire.
