Host Meg Wolitzer presents three works of speculative fiction curated by best-selling author N.K. Jemisin. In John Scalzi's “When the Yogurt Took Over” a popular breakfast staple decides it's good for everyone. The reader in Jin Ha. Chatbots and A.I. can be helpful—but sometimes too helpful--as we hear in Alexandra Chang's “Me and My Algo,” read by Catherine Cohen. And Jemisin herself reworks a classic by Ursula K. Le Guin in “The Ones Who Stay and Fight,” read by Teagle F. Bougere. Some of Jemisin's on stage comments are included in this show Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company. Listener mail takes over the Court of the Disney World Resort as Jim Hill, Len Testa, and Chris Cox revisit some of their most debated Walt Disney World cases. The trio weighs in on the perks guests most want Disney to restore, from Magical Express and package delivery to longer park hours, while listeners make surprisingly persuasive arguments involving everything from deluxe-resort toilet paper to last-day character breakfasts. They also dig into spontaneous character encounters, the operational logic behind the 3 p.m. Festival of Fantasy Parade, and the best viewing spots around Magic Kingdom. Stick around for a bonus round of TouringPlans forum poll results and a listener story about an unforgettable turn as Magic Kingdom Grand Marshals. HIGHLIGHTS • Why package delivery and Disney's Magical Express remain high on guests' wish lists. • The unexpected Walt Disney World perk that may separate Deluxe Resorts from Value Resorts: better toilet paper. • Why roaming characters can feel more magical than scheduled meet-and-greets or character dining. • The strategy behind Magic Kingdom's 3 p.m. parade - plus listener picks for the best Festival of Fantasy viewing spots. • TouringPlans forum poll results reveal which Disney perks, character experiences, and parade strategies listeners prefer. It's out September 18, grab your ticket to the launch event here: https://contrarianthinking.biz/bigdeal-sexton -cs You've been telling yourself the same story. That you need to work harder on your marriage. That you need to read more books, take more courses, find the perfect framework. Here's the truth: the only thing between you and the relationship you want is believing you need something you don't already have. James Sexton is one of the world's most famous divorce attorneys who has represented clients in more than a thousand divorces. He's seen every way a marriage can fail and every pattern that predicts it. In this episode, he breaks down the exact signs that a relationship is ending, why disconnection happens so slowly you don't even notice, and the simple daily habits that separate couples who last from couples who don't. In this episode, you'll learn: The sound of a dying marriage: why the tone of voice that says whatever or what reveals more than any argument ever could, and how contempt kills connection faster than cheating Why babies don't cause divorce but disconnection does, and how the mental load of parenting makes couples forget that their love built the baby in the first place The menu framework: how offering your partner options instead of expecting them to read your mind creates safety, and why asking do you need space or do you need to talk right now changes everything Why men ask did you have sex with him and women ask do you love her, and what that reveals about how men and women experience betrayal completely differently The eight mile strategy: how getting ahead of your own weaknesses in a relationship disarms defensiveness, and why showing your partner your flaws is the only way they can truly love you ___________ (00:00:00) Introduction: The Sound of a Marriage About to End (00:01:33) The What Huh Whatever: How Contempt Kills Connection (00:04:46) The Story Retelling Test: When Your Partner Becomes Boring (00:05:57) The Spiral of Apathy: How Disconnection Happens Slowly Then All at Once (00:07:16) The Text Message Strategy: 30 Seconds That Could Save Your Marriage (00:10:15) The Eight Billion People Problem: Why Your Partner Is Your Favorite Person (00:11:50) The Evidence Test: Cross-Examining Your Own Relationship (00:15:24) Social Media and the Performative Self: Hashtag Blessed While Negotiating Divorce (00:18:06) The Manual We Never Got: Why No One Teaches Us How to Love (00:22:38) Babies and Disconnection: The Crisis That Pulls Couples Apart (00:24:56) You Can't Pretend You Meant to Get Divorced: The Humility of Failure (00:27:29) Men and Women Get Each Other Wrong: The Defensiveness Trap (00:30:10) Creating Safe Space: Why Men Don't Tell You What You Don't Want to Hear (00:34:46) Love Is Not Permanently Gifted, It's Loaned: The Fragility of Connection (00:36:59) Cheating and Infidelity: The 70 Percent Reality (00:39:56) Did You Have Sex With Him: How Men and Women Experience Betrayal Differently (00:42:35) The Economy of Monogamy: What We Owe Each Other in a Committed Relationship (00:47:32) The Imaginary Perfect Partner: Comparing Real People to Fantasy (00:59:19) The Shaving Story: How You Ask the Question Dictates the Answer (01:03:46) The Eight Mile Strategy: Owning Your Weaknesses Before They're Used Against You (01:06:13) The Persuasion Principle: Great Advocacy Doesn't Look Like Advocacy (01:10:57) A Good Lawyer Knows the Law, A Great Lawyer Knows the Judge (01:14:27) The Menu Framework: Listening, Fixing, or Distraction (01:17:48) Does Marriage Still Work: The 70 Percent Failure Rate Question (01:19:45) Chapters in a Long Book: Reframing Divorce as Part of Your Story, Not Failure (01:26:09) The Vulnerability Invitation: Showing Your Weaknesses So You Can Feel Real Love ___________ MORE FROM BIGDEAL

Welcome to Multiverse News, your source for information about all your favorite fictional universes.Marvel left D23 with a full X-Men cast, a Doomsday sizzle reel, and a VisionQuest trailer, but not one new Disney+ series. In the August 20 edition of What I'm Hearing, Puck's Julia Alexander wrote that multiple live-action Marvel series are quietly in development with announcements expected soon, which cuts directly against the last few weeks of reporting that had Marvel retreating from live-action TV entirely after VisionQuest lands October 14. Worth stressing that this is a single paywalled item with no titles, no dates, and no talent attached, and Variety, Deadline, and THR have all left it alone while the aggregators and fan sites ran wild with it, loudly, with everything from a Heroes for Hire spinoff to a Defenders reunion getting floated ahead of Marvel Television's New York Comic Con panel on October 8. While Marvel's TV plans stay stuck in rumor, DC just made one official. The Jimmy Olsen project we've been tracking for the better part of a year finally has a title, and it's The People v. Gorilla Grodd, now an eight-episode straight-to-series order at HBO Max. Jimmy Tatro is officially Grodd after months of being merely attached in reports, but the bigger get is how much of the Daily Planet came along, with Skyler Gisondo, Beck Bennett, Mikaela Hoover, and Wendell Pierce all reprising from Superman for a “true” crime docuseries reinvestigating Grodd's murder conviction. To close out our all-TV episode, here's the one DC show that actually made it to air, and it's doing numbers. Per Deadline, Lanterns pulled 9.3 million global viewers in its first three days across HBO and HBO Max, 6.6 million of them stateside, making it the biggest DC Studios premiere in HBO Max history and a top five series debut on the platform overall. That's a stronger opening than The Penguin and IT: Welcome to Derry, and the premiere has held the number one spot on HBO Max's daily top ten every day since Sunday, with Chris Mundy already sketching season two despite no official renewal yet. Kit Harington will play Gilderoy Lockhart in season 2 of HBO's Harry Potter series. Harington replaces Nicholas Hoult, who was originally cast in the role but left over scheduling issues.Spider-Man: Brand New Day continued its dominant run at the global box office and currently stands at $2.2 billion worldwide. The Odyssey opened in a few more territories and sits at $1.44 billion in its sixth weekend, while newcomer Insidious: Out of the Further opened to $60.3 million worldwide. In an interview at the For the Love of Fantasy & Sci-Fi convention in London, Hayley Atwell told attendees that she was frustrated by Captain Carter's storyline in 2022's Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness saying “If I'm really like brutally honest, I was so disappointed with how they positioned her and what happened to her in that scene. It's so small, and she gets frisbeed to death. I tried on set to kind of go, ‘Can I just add? Can I just suggest?' And they were like, ‘Sure, but no.'”FX has ordered Legends, a meta-thriller limited series spinoff of Sons of Anarchy that reunites the majority of the original cast, including Charlie Hunnam, only this time playing fictionalized versions of themselves. The logline has the cast reuniting at a fan convention after more than a decade, where the line between life and art blurs as the fractured brotherhood faces a real-world threat more dangerous than anything from the show.NBA legend Shaquille O'Neal in an interview with EW revealed that he attempted to get cast in the Marvel Cinematic Universe in a role but was told no. He said “I wanted to be in the ‘Avengers' and they were like, ‘Shaq, we fuckin' love you and we'd love to put you in, but if your face pops up on screen people are going to go, ‘Hey, that's Shaq!' He said it truthfully, and I was like, alright… I guess my face is too bigtime.”

We're hitting the latest NFL news and notes to sharpen your fantasy edge — and two major storylines jump right off the page. Bears head coach Ben Johnson isn't hiding anything: he wants to blow out teams. Not "be aggressive," not "push the ball," but bury opponents. Bloom and Cecil break down what that means for fantasy — pace, volume, scoring spikes, and which Bears players benefit most from a coach openly embracing domination. Meanwhile, in Minnesota, Kyler Murray has officially won the Vikings' starting QB job. So what does that mean for Fantasy GMs. Bloom and Cecil dig into the ripple effects: Justin Jefferson's ceiling, the pace of the offense, Kyler's rushing value, and how this changes draft boards heading into August. watch on YouTube -> https://youtu.be/VP2YclG49jA

“Lanterns” so far is more cop drama than cosmic weirdness, and comic book historian Jessica Plummer isn't convinced the trade was worth it. She joins Matthew Fox to dig into the first two episodes of HBO Max's new John Stewart and Hal Jordan series, working through what an adaptation owes its source material and where reinterpretation turns into replacement. They get into the show's stripped-down approach to Green constructs, John Stewart's rewritten comics backstory, and why the human sheriff might be the character worth rooting. David and James cover all the key talking points from Chelsea's win at Fulham where Cole Palmer and Joao Pedro assisted each other and Morgan Rogers also found the net in The Blues 3-2 victory. All the key moments covered as Robert Sanchez failed to keep out Josh King's goal and Gonzalo Garcia also found the scoresheet on debut. Should either have caught the eye for Fantasy managers? And how keen should managers be to add additions from that brilliant Chelsea trio? Cole Palmer in particular really impressed. There's discussion on the tactics, good and bad from both, the stats and the selections, which included no Marco Palestra which will be a concern to Fantasy owners. Plus, David gives additional views on Liverpool and Ipswich from the weekend and there's a look at current GW2 bus teams. Andrew & Gommo are back after running their first GT and taking the reins of the infamous Australian GT, Castle Assault!Since we didn't get to play a whole lot ourselves, we thought we'd use this episode to look back at what actually goes into running an event: the prep, the pressure, what worked, what didn't, and all the good, bad and ugly bits in between.Lucent Art Light - https://gameenvy.net/lucent-art-light/Support the ShowJoin the Patreon - https://patreon.com/oldworldfanaticsShop Old World @ Element Games - https://elementgames.co.uk/wargames-and-miniatures-by-game/warhammer-the-old-worldLinks and ShoutoutsOld World Rankings - https://oldworldrankings.com/auAustralian Discord Server - https://discord.gg/yYaTG5svBVFollow UsYouTube - https://www.youtube.com/@oldworldfanaticsBluesky - https://bsky.app/profile/oldworldfanatics.comInstagram - https://www.instagram.com/oldworldfanaticsThreads - https://www.threads.net/@oldworldfanaticsEmail - oldworldfanatics@gmail.comHuge thanks to our monthly supporters!

878 · D23 Disney Parks Announcements: Sightlines Into Yesterday, Tomorrow, and FantasyThe loudest cheers at D23 weren't necessarily for what Disney was building next. They were for what Disney was willing to bring back, repair, and finally acknowledge. In a presentation built on a little faith, trust, and pixie dust, Disney asked fans to believe in an ambitious future, but this time it also showed its work. Models, progress, priorities, restorations, and even the things Disney chose to address directly revealed a much bigger story than any single attraction announcement. In WDW Radio # 878, we look at the D23 2026 Disney Parks announcements through a series of "sightlines" that connect Villains Land, Piston Peak National Park, Dreamfinder, the Expedition Everest Yeti, Spaceship Earth, Tomorrowland, Monstropolis, Tropical Americas, Disney Cruise Line, and much more. And the sightlines stretch well beyond the U.S., from Disneyland Paris and the return of its Jules Verne-inspired Space Mountain to new Tomorrowland, Avengers, and Spider-Man experiences coming to Tokyo, Hong Kong, and Shanghai. When you step back, it starts to look like a very Disney story of yesterday, tomorrow, and fantasy. Yesterday is being honored through attractions, characters, and experiences fans refused to let go of. Tomorrow is taking shape through ambitious new lands, technologies, attractions, and global expansion. And fantasy is where Disney is creating entirely new places and stories for us to step inside. We also explore what changed the perspective on some of these projects, why "no height requirement" may be one of the most important phrases of the night, why the sequence of these projects may matter as much as the projects themselves, and what Disney did not announce... and why. This isn't simply a recap of D23 2026. It's a closer look at what Disney is building, what it is preserving, what it is asking us to trust, and what all of it may mean for the way we experience the Disney Parks around the world in the years ahead.

Fantasy Things is back! In our annual celebration of everything strange, stupid and uniquely college football, we draft the moments, tropes, broadcast oddities and completely unforeseen bits of nonsense we want on our team for the 2026 season. We’re not picking players or predicting champions. We’re trying to anticipate the stuff that makes you stop on a Saturday afternoon and think, “Of course this is happening in college football.” This year’s board gets weird quickly. We get into coaches behaving strangely, broadcasts going off the rails, new ways technology could make the sport even more ridiculous, and a few very specific scenarios that feel just plausible enough to happen. There are also some long-shot “penny stocks” at the end, including a handful of ideas that are probably terrible bets but would be incredible if they somehow hit.
