Elopements are growing in popularity every year... Maybe because couples are starting to ask "why?" about having a big, expensive wedding. Or maybe because couples are tired of being pressured into inviting guests they barely know. Whatever the reason, there are thousands of couple trying to navigate the elopement planning process with little-to-no resources out there to help them. The goal of this show is to provide tips and advice from our experience as adventurous elopement photographers, and make the process less stressful for you as you plan an INCREDIBLE day when you'll marry the love of your life. How do you plan an elopement? How do you tell friends and family that you're eloping? What does an elopement actually look like? What's the deal with marriage licenses? What if our parents want to be involved in the elopement? Those are a few of the questions we'll answer as we break down elopements piece-by-piece. There is no right or wrong - that's the beauty of eloping. But that can also make it stressful, because there's no cookie cutter pattern to follow! Unlike weddings, you probably don't have dozens of friends who have eloped, and you probably haven't attended many elopements (because, well, you most likely weren't invited). We have been involved in MANY elopements, so hopefully our experience can shed some light into the aspects that we often take for granted, but you may have never thought of before. Elopements FAQ | Common Questions About ElopingBeing elopement photographers, we get questions all the time about what eloping looks like, how it works, etc. Most people have never experienced an elopement (because, well, they probably haven't been invited to one!), so when they are considering eloping, it can be difficult to visualize it. In this episode, our goal is to share the answers to common questions about eloping, so if you want to elope, it will be easier to get the planning started. Here are some of the questions we talk about: Can you invite guests to your elopement? How do couples hike with their wedding clothes for mountaintop elopements? Can we bring decor, flowers, champagne, etc. if we're eloping? What time of day is best to elope? Can our dogs be included? How do we make our marriage official and legal? What does the elopement ceremony look like? What if there is bad weather?
Episode 4: How To Tell Your Friends and Family That You're ElopingThis is a hard topic for a lot of people to discuss with their friends and family. Some people get offended, some are hurt, some might disapprove. You might be surprised, though, that some of your friends and family will be happy for you when they hear that you're eloping. Based on our experience as elopement photographers and our conversations with couples who have eloped, we are sharing our advice about how to approach the conversation. Elopements are NOT some sort of rebellious way of saying "screw you" to the people you care about. If an elopement is the best thing for you to do on your wedding day, you shouldn't let anyone stop you from doing it. You can be gentle in how you tell people, but always be decisive. Don't let them make you second guess yourself.
