The International Student Office (ISO) provides information and services to international students concerning visas and immigration regulations, as well as help with cultural adjustment through orientation programs, information sessions, activities and individual advisement.
The International Student Office presents American Textures, a documentary that follows six creative individuals of black, white and Latino heritage on a journey through diverse communities in the southern United States. It is designed as a Community Social Engagement Project that actively supports the creation of intercultural dialogues and the growth of interracial empathy. A panel discussion with Arnd Wächter of Crossing Borders Education and SVA students will follow.
The Dialogue is a 66-minute documentary that follows four American and four Chinese university students as they travel together through Hong Kong and Southwest China. Intrigued by the complex context of Sino-US relations, together they characters explore elements of meaningful dialogue and cultural identity. Their shared travel adventures, emotion of culture shock, honest confrontations and discoveries about each other become doorways to deepen their understanding of the "other" and themselves.
