In the world in which we live, so often what we celebrate is attached to the perception of its future monetary value. We encourage our children to pursue academic efforts that lead to careers that are deemed as providing the optimal level of success as measured by income earned. Is this the right approach? On beginning a journey, it's important to know the starting point. On this journey, we are in the process of building a community and so we need to start from the same place -- with the same understanding.
