Predictabilities: A Futurist Podcast

Predictabilities is back with a brand new episode. This time the guys predict the future of recording our lives. Since the dawn of the social media era we have slowly transitioned to recording our daily lives. Is this just the beginning? How much of our lives will we record in the future? How will we control what people see of our lives and are we all headed for one shared consciousness> All that and more on this episode of Predictabilities.

It is a new season of Predictibilities: A Futurist Podcast, and to start off the new year of shows the guys stick with a common theme they talked about in the last episode of the show. Last time the guys discussed the possibility of uploading our minds to a computer so that humanity will forever have access to our thoughts and experiences. This week though, They take a more philosophical approach and speculate about the exact nature of consciousness and what exactly it means and what we can do scientifically to ensure that our consciousness goes on after our physical body dies. They wonder if it is possible to transfer our consciousness to computers, other brains and objects in the universe itself. The guys also speculate on brain death and what a person experiences shortly after outside observers declare our body and minds to be dead. They also talk about future brain studies that will allow us to peer into the minds of our pets and other animals to know exactly what they are thinking and experiencing, giving us a better understanding of non-human creatures true intelligence.  

In this edition of the podcast the guys discuss the future of something none of us really want to do. We all are forced by the rules of society and the fact that wee need to bu food and pay for shelter to live a comfortable, normal life, but will this be the case in a hundred years? We will look at the ways technology may take our place in many of the jobs we hold today and we speculate about a future where there is no need for any human labor. We also predict a future where there is no more currency and everything is provided to us by the extremely advanced technology that manufactures and distributes everything we could possibly need without the need for human assistance.

This week the guys try to predict where music is headed. They talk about musical trends, how we buy music and the technology used to produce the music. Will pop music still be the music of choice for young people in a 100 years or will some new genre emerge as the favorite music style. Could we see the most famous music stars be nothing more than a complicated computer program. Will holographic versions of our favorite artists perform for centuries to come? All that and more on the latest Futurist podcast episode of Predictabilities!

In this Podcast Short the guys discuss the recent comments by renowned futurist and director of engineering at Google, Ray Kurzweil, where he predicted we will have the ability to upload our brains to computers by 2045. The guys discuss this prediction, if it's realistic and what society would be like if this would happen. Plus, they validity of Moore's law and some other predictions regarding the singularity.

In this episode of the podcast the guys try to imagine the future of transportation. They begin with talking about automated cars and the possibility that eventually we will no longer manually drive cars with automated cars being the safer, more economical option. Later the guys discuss the always proposed but never built high speed bullet trains. They talk about a world where one could travel across the country in a short period of time and for not  a lot of money. Finally they discuss future space travel, which would include suborbital flights that could  get you from New York to London in an hour. Plus the future of intergalactic space travel. Is the technology we see on TV and the movies even possible?

This time on the podcast the guys predict what would happen if humanity was faced with several extinction events. It ends up that there is not much good news for any of these scenarios, but listen to find out exactly what will happen!
