Helen Leicht has been part of the Philly radio community since 1976, as on-air host at WIOQ, WMMR, WMGK and currently WXPN since 1990. Known for the "Leicht Lunch" and her Sunday program, "Breakfast with the Beatles," she’s interviewed thousands of artists throughout her career including Paul McCartney, Amos Lee, The Hooters, Matt Nathanson, Mondo Cozmo, Peter Gabriel, and many many more. Helen’s newest adventure is creating this podcast, giving her the opportunity to chat with musicians and friends off-air…to talk about music, life and everything in between.
For our third episode, I spent some time chatting with legendary WIBG Midday Host, Bill Wright Sr., sharing stories of how he got his start in radio and his experience meeting the Beatles.
On episode two, we celebrate Father's Day by chatting with Devon Gilfillian and his dad, Nelson (percussionist for Café Ole). The two of them discuss their musical collaboration on Devon's debut album, “Black Hole Rainbow.” Nelson also shared some of his favorite stories about Devon growing up and his musical roots...and his mom, Ginny, even makes an appearance!
On the first episode, I sit down to chat with Singer Songwriter, John Flynn (https://www.johnflynn.net/) and Producer, John Harvey (AKA Harvey in the Morning) to talk about their collaboration on the forthcoming album entitled Take Cover (Hondo Jenkins). We take a listen to an original song off the album, called Space Station. Harvey and I also catch up on our early radio days!
