This #EATONTechTalk session will be a discussion on the qualified person.  We’ll have Mr. David Smith and a special Mike King, Lead Technical and Safety Training Specialist at Eaton.  Michael’s background is in power systems and he works hard to create qualified persons every day.  This is a topic that should be quite interesting as it is controversial.  I have been in many conversations with opposing views of what a qualified person is.  

This session took a look at key considerations for arc flash evaluations.  The incident energy calculation is important as this study establishes an incident energy value to which the electrical worker will dress.  This discussion walks through the calculation and all related considerations that should be addressed.

This episode speaks to the #electricalhazards that are in the residential home and provides a discussion around awareness and mitigation.  #ElectricalSafety plays an important role even in the home.  

This session does a deep dive into the topic of selective coordination.  We talk about the Time Current Characteristic (TCC) Curve and we talk about the tools you can use to select circuit breakers and fuses that selectively coordinate and that give you the most economical solution for your application.  There's alot to think about in selective coordination and this session probably just scratches the surface.Don't forget to check out my YouTube site too!

This session explores the relationship betwen the electrical engineer and the National Electrical Code.  How do you engage with the NEC?  Is it at the beginning of your design, the end of your design, throughout the entire process?  do you treat the NEC as a design guide?  this is a short chat about that.

This session answers a couple of really good questions regarding conductor applications when installing in raceway and when you have multiple conductors in raceway or event parallel conductors in multiple raceway.  We also derive the equation for the infinite bus to help you understand what the infinite bus is and why it is what it is.

This is my first podcast as part of The Engineering Network.  I will be focusing on electrical power distribution system design and safety.  Safety by design is definitely at the core of all of my future programs.
