While on Vancouver Island, I spied what looked like a Sequoia tree. I wandered over and saw that the Canadians had labeled it as a Coast Redwood, but it was clearly a Sequoia which grows in the Sierra rather than t=its coastal cousin. In any case, I wax on about a recent coversation I had with some Mormons who had come to my door.

On the Summer Solstice this year, I sifted through a very old compost pile. It was over 18 months old. Sifting the compost pile is like creating Mother Earth to me. It is almost a religious ritual to me and the Summer Solstice a special day. Almost is probably a necessary qualification. Gardening brings about a deep spirituality in me. Since this channel is supposed to be about gardening as a spiritual pursuit. I sat down in front of my compost pile and pontificated.
