Look in to get out. Connect with other artists/humans on your creative track!
Either you’re good at feeling the depth of your emotions or your avoidant and need something to help you focus on the tough stuff so that you don’t miss out on the best of life because you didn’t let yourself process. Creativity is a place to get honest about what’s going on inside. In this episode I talk about my struggles with emotional avoidance and how Creativity helps me to tune in. Let me know if any of it resonates with you! You can find me @heatheryish on all social media, and browse through my artwork on www.heatheryish.com to see if you connect with any of the emotions I painted. :)
I think in Enneagram. It's a personality typing system that is so helpful, I had to share with you how I use it in my creative process. I give a quick overview and explain how my personality type (8 w 7) shows up as an artist/entrepreneur. I also end up declaring my love for introverts, tip-toeing into religion somehow, and find the root of why I keep showing up here and as an artist despite all my fears. So basically I have those two cartoon characters Pinky and the Brain in my head all the time. Brain (8) just wants to take over the world, and Pinky (7) just wants to have fun. And Brain hates Pinky just as much too lol. So it makes for a good time in there. Come hang out with me for a bit! :) Read more about it HERE: https://www.heatheryish.com/Enneagram-Artist START HERE for a closer look into the enneagram, and consider finding a professional to help you type yourself instead of trying to figure it out yourself :) - www.enneagraminstitute.com
Toxic Ego can blend with healthy confidence so easily sometimes that it can be tricky to delineate the two. Hear about my disco loving hamster in my head that is my ego, how it talks to me, and how I've learned to work with it. Is your ego a hamster? lol I'd love to know. Message me on all social media @heatheryish. Also, I mentioned the Seanwes podcast episode linked here: https://seanwes.com/podcast/425-put-in-your-10-years-the-long-game/
Just get started, no matter how imperfectly you show up. Connect to me on my artist path as I document my process in hopes that I connect to yours. Although I have minimal equipment, hella fears, and inadequacies, I started a podcast. I authentically explore where I'm at now as I start a podcast and talk about how I got started as an artist while I was still teaching full-time. Ultimately the creative process was the best tool I found to get introspective and improve my inner life so that it would affect all areas of my external life, including my career. There are a lot of people who do podcasts extremely professionally - this isn't one of them. But I'm ready to show up as I am, and I hope you'll be my friend. Or at least I hope the robots listening to this will be kind to my descendants. Thank you for listening! Let me know if you have any take-aways or critiques. :) Find me on my website at www.heatheryish.com Connect on instagram at www.instagram.com/heatheryish I mentioned a blog post about my first painting which you can find here: www.heatheryish.com/live-in-color And another blog post with more weird info about me is here: www.heatheryish.com/3-life-changing…t-know-about-me ← Older Post
