Georgius Agricola was a product of the Renaissance and the flowering of learning exemplified in his treatise De Re Metallica on the underground silver mining in eastern Germany and everything to do with its' mining and processing. Another earth-shattering event was the Industrial Revolution which started in Britain and later spread to other parts of Europe.
