MTSS by Design

 I believe that when MTSS are functioning effectively in your school, you not only have student achievement, but you reduce many of the stressors educators face – all in all leading to happy, and healthier school climate and culture. In this episode, I talk about the dawn of RTI and some of the unintended consequences that have resulted from the beginning of the RTI reform.  I also talk about a short, but interesting, experiment I did with the RTI triangle and some State data to ask some probing questions about the uses of the "RTI triangle."MTSS by Design Private Facebook group  https://www.facebook.com/groups/576546480259380/ 

 I believe that when MTSS are functioning effectively in your school, you not only have student achievement, but you reduce many of the stressors educators face – all in all leading to happy, and healthier school climate and culture. In this episode, I talk about the evolution of the ESEA and the IDEA and how these documents have contributed to the broken education system in the US.  I dive into the two "primary" and widely used "types" of education – General and Special and we explore how these approaches compete with each other for education accessibility and resources.  We talk about the hypothetical view of the ESEA of 1965 being the original tier 1, amendments that allocated additional resources as tier 2, and special education as tier 3... and how, like modern-day MTSS Framework, it has been largely ineffective. MTSS by Design Private Facebook group  https://www.facebook.com/groups/576546480259380/
