Raised in the Midwest, and born into an ultra-conservative family with super religious beliefs it was not easy (to say the least) being gay and completely authentic. Now at the age of 40 I'm ready to share my POV. Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/out-in-bobbysworld/support

Speaking with my friend Nick Clinton-Elliot who works for NAMI and about his life living with mental illness, religion, lack of family support, and how he managed to find health, hope, and happiness through it all. More on my coming out story and how I learned to keep things to myself for 17 years from my family. NOTE: Don't overreact when your child asks questions about their body, because it teaches them to never open up to you. I had to let the world teach me about my body and it should have been my parents. I am probably glad I didn't, because they would have taught me to be ashamed and hate my body. Glad I don't hate myself now after a decade of therapy. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/out-in-bobbysworld/support
