Sarakeet: In My Car is a collection of stories about driving, riding and getting from here to there. Sara is a wife, mother, business owner and writer living in Chicago. She dreams of more time under the stars and on the open road.
Sara recalls the first time she helped to earn some money for the family, a surprisingly labor-intensive job involving that big old station wagon. She borrowed her parent's mini-van in highschool and learned to navigate Chicago in a Chevy S-10 Pick Up Truck. This episode's stories are all about taking your car to WORK.
Sara relates three important drives in her life each part of the journey to becoming a mother; an urgent trip to the Doctor, an overnight trek from Chicago to Texas, and a meandering sojourn around the city with no clear destination.
Sara describes the first car she can remember from childhood and spending a good portion of the 1980s in a green station wagon. She hopes to recreate the road trips of her youth when she takes her baby on a ten hour road trip.... which doesn't go exactly as she hoped.
Who is the Sarakeet? What is she talking about? Meet Sara. Learn a little more about this story teller and how she chose, after a few years of meandering artistically to talk about cars.
