How Mary Shelley discovered her voice as an author and with it revolutionized the horror genre.

I share my love for my favorite childhood novel, and how it helped me understand the importance of characters in world building. We also discuss the taboos of Victorian society, as well as Freud, and the suspension of disbelief. I recount how I stumbled upon this book at 8 years old, on a shopping trip with my family. I share how it inspired me to write adventure stories, and how now as an adult I can look back on the novel with scrutiny and discuss its racism, misogyny, and praise for colonialism in Arica.
