All Things Poetry and Urdu.
Shikwa or The Complaint is arguably Dr, Sir Muhammad Iqbal's most famous work. Presented in the April of 1911, Shikwa's narrator is a Muslim who submits a complaint in the court of God regarding the conditions of his kind. Inspired by John Milton's Paradise Lost, it turns into a frustrated remonstrance. The long poem, or Nazm, has a great dramatic quality to it which makes it a great piece to read, listen to or perform.
