OA1243 - The lawsuit that was supposed to break up Ticketmaster and Live Nation's obvious monopoly over live music throughout the U.S. has just ended in a settlement so surprising that even DOJ's lead counsel didn't know it was happening. Is this deal as bad as it looks? What does it mean for the future of live entertainment, and what will happen if the dozens of states which joined the feds in this case don't sign off on it? Also: An insurance company sues ChatGPT for telling someone to fire their lawyer, the first (known) instance of a DOJ lawyer writing a brief with AI, and Kristi Noem's Marvel-ous new job. The lab coats are off this week as your two trusted scientists take a break from hard core advice-giving and dive into some silliness (with substance, of course). They kick things off with an Am I the Hater? submission from a listener whose dad is competing with her. Jess and Caroline both agree that it's a weird dynamic, but they suggest different approaches to dealing with it.Next up is a pet peeve about making conversation, followed by a spicy hot take on corporate speak. Then they close things out with a whatado about a stinky coworker, which calls up memories from Jess's first job and Caroline's coding school orientation. This week on the podcast: Question 1: “I'm the youngest at my job and feel pressure to prove myself constantly, while others put in less effort and aren't held accountable. Lately, it's gone beyond frustration, I'm now expected to pick up extra work when they don't finish theirs. There are also a lot of changes happening at work, and I don't want to add more to my boss's plate. Today's Headlines: The first cabinet firing of Trump 2.0 has arrived. After two rough days testifying before Congress, Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem is out. Her replacement is Oklahoma Senator Markwayne Mullin — a rancher, MMA fighter, and former ethics investigation subject who had to repay $40K in "mistaken" payments. So, a lateral move. DHS remains unfunded for a third week, and Democrats say swapping Noem out isn't enough. On the war front, the House voted 212-219 against a War Powers resolution that would have required Trump to seek congressional approval before continuing strikes in the Middle East. The US embassy in Kuwait has been shuttered after retaliatory strikes killed six American soldiers. Trump, meanwhile, told Axios he wants to personally pick Iran's next leader — though he noted most of his preferred candidates are already dead, which is a sentence that actually happened. In a memo reported by The Information, Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei went off on the Trump administration, stating plainly that the White House's beef with his company comes down to Anthropic refusing to donate, refusing to flatter, and refusing to play along with what he called "safety theater." OpenAI, he implied, has been less principled. Elsewhere: Trump's White House ballroom plans hit a snag after 35,000+ public comments — 97% of them hostile — delayed a federal vote until next month. RFK Jr. got 50+ medical schools to adopt his nutrition curriculum framework, though notably none of the schools that already settled with the Trump administration signed on. And a new anti-corruption group sued Trump and Pam Bondi over the TikTok deal, arguing the administration ignored Congress's national security mandate to hand the app to political allies instead. On February 16, a group of Palestinian footballers and Palestinian clubs joined with others to file a complaint with the Office of the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court. They are accusing the Presidents of FIFA, and Union of European Football Associations, UEFA, of aiding in war crimes and crimes against humanity in the occupied Palestinian territory. We speak about the reasons for this complaint with Jill Thomson of Scottish Sport for Palestine.

According to some US military commanders, God is totally on board with America attacking Iran. Complaints from troops are rolling into the Military Religious Freedom Foundation about some orders being served with a side of religion. Troops in three dozen military units spread across some 30 different military installations say they've been told this is all part of God's plan. The MRFF also says they had reports that troops were “promised a 200-mile-long river that is four-and-a-half feet deep filled with nothing but the blood that their weaponized version of Jesus will spill at the Battle of Armageddon.” We'll explore the role of religion in Trump's military. Episode 176 – Legion Of Goon: Arsenal's Defensive Wall Shuts Down Brighton as City Drop Points in the Title RaceArsenal head to the south coast and leave with three crucial points after a controlled 1–0 win away at Brighton. With Martin Ødegaard unavailable and William Saliba a late withdrawal, Mikel Arteta's side are forced into changes — but the response is a composed, resilient performance built on defensive authority and intelligent game management. The hosts break down Bukayo Saka's early opener, Brighton's rare attacking moments, and how Arsenal's back line — led by David Raya, Gabriel and Piero Hincapié — quietly took control of the match. The conversation turns to Arteta's substitutions, the tactical adjustments that shut the game down, and why Arsenal were able to limit Brighton to almost nothing after the hour mark. There's also plenty of reaction to Fabian Hürzeler's pre- and post-match comments about Arsenal's game management, as the hosts debate the growing narratives around Arsenal's style of play and the constant scrutiny surrounding the team's set-piece threat. The title race also takes a dramatic twist as Manchester City drop points against Nottingham Forest, sending the Arsenal dressing room into celebration and raising fresh questions about how the run-in could unfold. In Part Two, the hosts dig into the ongoing debate around Arsenal's set-piece dominance, why the conversation has become such a talking point across the league, and whether clubs should simply adapt rather than complain. The episode then looks ahead to Arsenal's FA Cup trip to Mansfield Town, discussing potential rotation, youth opportunities, and how Arteta may manage the squad with a huge run of fixtures approaching — including Leverkusen and the Carabao Cup final. There's also another round of the Prediction Game, a new edition of Justin's Six Pack, and a broader discussion about why Arsenal's cup games have felt very different to the pressure cooker of the Premier League title race.A big week, a massive defensive performance, and a title race that might just be turning Arsenal's way.Chapters:(00:00) - Arteta's Non-Negotiables & Intro(00:53) - Brighton Review & Team News: Saliba Out, Ødegaard Missing & Starting XI(02:08) - 0–1 | Saka Breakthrough & Verbruggen Goalkeeper Error(04:02) - Penalty Debate: Martinelli Grab & Havertz Challenge(05:12) - Arteta's Game Management: Havertz, Trossard & Calafiori Subs(06:45) - Hincapié, Raya, Gabriel & Timber Praised in Defensive Masterclass(09:31) - Match Stats Breakdown & Brighton's Lack of Threat(10:07) - Substitution Timing & Tactical Impact(11:55) - Fabian Hürzeler Complaints & Pre-Match Mind Games(15:26) - Brighton Crowd Atmosphere & “Only One Team Playing Football” Claim(16:28) - Title Race Moment: Man City vs Forest Reactions(20:49) - Dressing Room Celebrations & Arsenal Momentum(24:03) - Bernardo Silva Complaints & City Frustration(25:25) - Run-In Discussion: Everton, Bournemouth & Etihad Context(28:10) - Defensive Structure Returning & Arteta Tactical Adjustments(30:52) - Pressing Without Ødegaard & Havertz(31:49) - Mental Test & Role of Home Fans(36:02) - PT.2: Set Piece Debate & Media Narrative(38:26) - Corner Grappling, VAR Checks & “Ben White Rule” Discussion(45:52) - Chelsea Corner Routines & Premier League Set Piece Trends(47:53) - Why Every Club Needs a Set Piece Coach(49:08) - League vs Cup Games: Which Are More Enjoyable?(50:52) - European Perspective: Arsenal Tactical Influence(53:54) - Cup Run Possibilities & Fixture Congestion(57:48) - Prediction Game: West Ham vs Brentford(01:00:20) - Spotlight Game: Wrexham vs Chelsea(01:03:21) - Justin's Six Pack: Top Things To Do In Mansfield(01:06:20) - Mansfield Preview & Expected Arsenal Rotation(01:09:14) - Midfield Selection Issues & Youth Opportunities(01:13:31) - Martinelli vs Trossard Debate Continues(01:17:31) - Final Thoughts on Squad Rotation & Competition Priorities
"Listening isn't just about hearing words. It's about understanding the emotions behind the words." Great service rarely comes from scripts or policies. It comes from simple human moments. When people feel seen, heard, and valued, something powerful happens—trust grows, relationships deepen, and even small interactions become memorable. The real opportunity often hides inside frustration. Complaints aren't just problems to solve; they're signals pointing to where connection and service can improve. The difference between an ordinary interaction and an extraordinary one is usually just attention, empathy, and a willingness to truly listen. Joan Johnson calls this becoming a "customer whisperer." Drawing on more than five decades of leadership experience, she explains how listening carefully, responding with empathy, and noticing small details can transform everyday service moments. Joan also reframes complaints as valuable feedback—opportunities that reveal what customers truly need and how organizations can serve them better. Joan is an award-winning author, keynote speaker, and transformational coach with more than 50 years of experience in public service, including leadership roles with the Ontario government. Today she helps leaders build cultures of empathy, resilience, and exceptional service. Then Glenn Greenwald, host of “System Update” on Substack, joins to discuss Jasmine Crockett's fraudulent backstory and political irrelevance, soft-spoken white guy James Talarico's actually very extreme views and woke past comments, the new Atlantic profile fawning over Pete Buttigieg, talking about his new beard and establishment cred, Michelle Obama's new interview with Conan O'Brien, her latest complaints about race and Donald Trump, the latest messaging from the Trump administration about the strikes in Iran, the questions about whether it's actually a "war," Israel's involvement in driving this decision by the U.S., the bizarre social media effort to falsely label Megyn an “anti-semite,” her long support of Israel and pro-Jewish history, and more. In this episode, we dive headfirst into Super Bowl week, Radio Row vibes, and the wild realization that loving sports hits different when you don't actually have a team. We break down whether the NBA product is really “buns,” why the NFL feels oversaturated, and how MLB fans never stopped grinding (for better or worse).Things get spicy when we shift into Grammy controversy, comparing modern shock-value fashion to Janet Jackson's Super Bowl moment, and questioning how times (and standards) have changed. We also touch on:Sports burnout and overschedulingParenting drama in youth sportsWhy community and listener interaction actually mattersStar Wars fandom, nostalgia, and generational dividesUnfiltered, opinionated, and very on-brand — this one goes everywhere.
National Consumer Protection Week (NCPW) is a reminder that being an informed consumer is your best defense. In this special episode, Michelle takes the guest chair to share simple, practical habits that help protect your wallet and your confidence. From pausing before you purchase, reading reviews, and verifying sellers, to understanding common scam tactics and why timing matters, this conversation is all about staying one step ahead. We also talk about choosing empowerment over embarrassment. Reporting scams and filing complaints doesn't just help you, it can help protect the entire community. Complaints can reveal patterns and trends, allowing OCP to identify potential issues across the county and take action when needed. You'll also learn how OCP helps resolve disputes, enforces consumer laws, and connects with residents through community forums, outreach events, and educational presentations. NCPW shines a spotlight on these issues, but consumer awareness is a year-round effort. Stay connected for timely alerts, practical tools, and ways to help keep our community informed and protected. When sales are down, employees quit, customers are complaining, cash flow is tight, and your inbox looks like a war zone… it doesn't mean you have a work ethic problem. It means you have a prioritization problem. In this episode of SoTellUs Time, Trevor and Troy Howard break down the exact framework overwhelmed business owners can use to decide what to fix first — and what to ignore — when everything feels broken at once. Because the truth is this: You don't fix businesses by working harder. You fix them by fixing the right thing first. If you're a small business owner, entrepreneur, CEO, or leader who feels buried in problems, this episode will give you clarity, control, and a practical system you can use immediately.

Are you touring homes over and over… but still don't feel confident enough to make an offer? Are you frustrated because every showing feels reactive instead of strategic? In this episode, Seth of the SLG Team at Real Broker breaks down the streamlined three-meeting onboarding system designed to give buyers clarity before they ever step foot inside a home. With the Philadelphia market picking up and buyers returning, Seth explains why so many clients are leaving their previous agents — and why the issue isn't the market… it's the missing process.Instead of “just going to see houses,” this episode dives into solving the two critical puzzles first — logistics and finances — eliminating doubt, and creating a faster, more confident path to an offer.Episode Breakdown:1:34 – Philadelphia Market Update1:58 – Why Buyers Are Switching Agents2:47 – Why the Northeast Market Moves Differently3:09 – What To Do Before Seeing Houses3:55 – The Problem with “Just Go See Houses”4:30 – The Two Puzzles: Logistics & Finances5:07 – Eliminating Buyer Doubt5:54 – Why Buyers Lose Interest After 3–5 Showings6:11 – The 3-Meeting Virtual Onboarding System7:57 – The #1 Complaint from Clients8:56 – Starter Home vs. Forever Home9:45 – What Buyers Should Ask Their Agent10:22 – Why Upfront Clarity MattersThis isn't about seeing more homes — it's about seeing the right homes with clarity and confidence. If yes, then this episode is for you.

Bad online reviews aren't new in veterinary medicine. What's changing is how quickly we respond, and how quickly we sometimes end the relationship by “firing” the client who posted something critical. In the 482nd episode of The Veterinary Viewfinder, Dr. Ernie Ward and Beckie Mossor, MPA, RVT, explore the real question behind legitimate negative reviews: when does a complaint justify firing a client, and when is it an opportunity to improve? They unpack the difference between unsafe behavior and simple dissatisfaction, the emotional toll of public criticism, and how burnout may be shrinking our tolerance. The conversation also digs into power dynamics in medical professions, the shift from negotiation to zero tolerance, and what we lose when we default to dismissal instead of dialogue. This episode offers practical reflection points for veterinarians, technicians, and practice leaders who want clear boundaries without sacrificing professionalism or growth. If your clinic has wrestled with online complaints, or if your team feels emotionally drained by them, this is a thoughtful, grounded conversation worth having. #VeterinaryMedicine #VetLife #VetMedLeadership #PracticeManagement #VeterinaryTeams
On this Ticked Off Tuesday, Jared goes IN on modern everyday chaos: adults who treat a bakery menu like it's the Cheesecake Factory (bring back the 30sec shot clock), group fitness rebels doing the exact opposite of every move, people who somehow still can't open email attachments, and the nonstop-talking plane mom who blocks the aisle while packing her entire life at landing. If you've ever felt spiritually delayed by strangers, this one's for you!Jared is on tour!
Stanley Kubrick's Eyes Wide Shut In 1999 filmmaker Stanley Kubrick would shoot his final cinematic statement. Adapting a 1926 Freudian novella, Kubrick would (seemingly) explore the dark mysteries of sexual trafficking, secret societies, infidelity, and the paranoia inherent in all of it. A Psycho-Sexual Drama centered around a Masked Ball Orgy and images that would haunt the minds of popular culture, Kubrick's Final Film is troubling, but not for the reasons one may think. Heralded as his "Final Masterpiece" upon its release, Eyes Wide Shut has become far more relevant in the 27 years since its debut. The controversy surrounding Jeffrey Epstein has forged new relevance for Kubrick's swan song, presenting a narrative that far too many film, political, and social critics have latched onto with a misplaced fervor. Celebrated for the light it shines on the powers that control this world, the depravity of their sexual practices, and the honesty Kubrick is credited with exposing, the film is - in actuality - an obvious and simplistic handling of the material. This week Mr. Chavez & I examine Eyes Wide Shut with a focus on on the reality of Jeffrey Epstein, The Epstein Files, National & International Politics, Wealth, and the Ruling Classes. Take a listen for, yet, another discussion of this troubling narrative. Questions, Comments, Complaints, & Suggestions can be directed to gondoramos@yahoo.com. Our Continued Thanks. OA1237 - The U.S. Department of Justice is not sending their best these days. From the problematic indictments of journalists Don Lemon and Georgia Fort for their coverage of the protest of a church in Minnesota whose pastor runs the local ICE field office to the unexpected dismissal of Mohsen Mohdawi's deportation proceedings to a bizarre argument (and more good news) in Kilmar Abrego Garcia's custody proceedings, we are continuing to see what happens when authoritarian lawyering meets actual federal judges applying actual federal law to the facts and parties before them. Finally, in today's footnote: can you sue your ex for telling millions of people about your enormous penis? We debate whether a former football player's claims are giving BDE or legal shrinkage.
