Hello from self-isolation! Today we sit down with the brilliantly eloquent writer and teacher, Rachael. The topics range from mortality and the passing of our grandparents, the internalized racism we grew up with, the nature of storytelling, teaching, and--honestly, she provides a plethora of thought-provoking answers. It's a long one, but I sincerely loved every minute of this conversation. Hope you do too! I first met Jacky as an interviewee for an article he was writing for his university newspaper. I then realized he had so many more passions to share, from powerlifting, to music, to graphic animation, and TED talking. In this conversation I learn that there's even more to him than what I saw online. We dive into his identity as someone who lives in between multiple interests. As a creative working in the educational field, what things has he learned? What has he gained and how does he navigate? These were the questions that I had going into this conversation. I was pleasantly surprised not only by his journey from aspiring NBA player to an educator with a plethora of artistic passions, but also his cultural journey sprouting from the Asian American movement today. Hi there. No letter today. Instead we have some ramblings and musings about the first 10 episodes. As per usual, things are not that well organized so I’m not 100% sure everything is coherent, but hopefully it at least gets you through your commute or just sparks some thoughts/ideas. Basically, this episode acts as a marker for the future. As this project overall is a way to document my journey from lost little kid to (hopefully) less lost adult, I thought it apt to maintain its personal touch and to update any listeners with where I am in life.
And we've made it to episode 10! Thank you to all the guests thus far. Today I'm excited to share perhaps my favourite episode to date. It is one of my favourites as it embodies all of the themes and ideals that have come up through the first 10 episodes. From culture intertwining with identity, to a poignant example of "it takes a village" or "we all have casts", Sunny's story offers so much. During the episode I realized that simply knowing that stories like these - that people like these - alone is enough. So thank you again to everyone who has come on the show thus far, as well as to those who have extended their kind words and thoughts to the show. Today’s letter is the first one not addressing a person. It is a letter written to ‘dance’ and spurs an array of topics, spanning from turning vegan, to copycat creatives, and of course, dance. Ultimately, however, I believe it is a portrayal of the natural breaks we take from our passions as we get older.

Hello! This episode is centred around having a child in your early 20s, but I suppose it is equally about starting a business while having a newborn. Then again, it can all be neatly summed up as highlighting the immense impact a partner can have on the potential success of so many more things beyond just the relationship. It's been years since I've written a letter to my parents. The main challenge has been one of language. As the decade came to a close, however, I decided that it was time to really try to convey my emotions from the last few years. Here I've placed the English versions of these letters and I've also shared a lot of my heart regarding this podcast. "So there's no letter? There's no letter." Today's guest is a long-time friend and surprised me by showing up without a letter. The conversation naturally led to the main thing that connected us: our identities as Korean-Canadians. A big component of this was the role our immigrant parents played on our upbringing and values.
Merry Christmas! This episode with local creative, hustler, and podcaster, Aurea, adopts a much more playful tone and explores the influence that best friends have on us. @weallhavecasts weallhavecasts.com
