Episode 2 of We Stand Podcast Kate and Orla travel to Dublin to meet Kate's mum and hear her story. Mari speaks candidly about how it is to be a mother of someone who was sexually abused. How this impacted her life and how they are healing together. This series will explore childhood sexual abuse, the impact it has and how breaking the silence can give survivors freedom. This is an open space where we can talk about abuse, the impact it has on our lives and how to bring power and healing back into our bodies. It is giving an empowered voice to victims and survivors. Too often the ‘voice' of the abused is buried in court reports and statistics. The voice is so diluted that nobody usually gets to hear the power and courage and strength that abused people have. It is also for people who haven't had abuse impact their lives, so that they may see a new way to view survivors. In the series we will have contributions from therapists, child protection workers and survivors. We want to use the money raised to pay these contributors and cover the costs of creating the podcast. We also will commit to 10% of all proceeds raised being donated to charities supporting survivors in Ireland. We hope when this podcast series is completed we will generate a further income and continue to raise money for those affected by childhood sexual abuse.
