Magnate Sessions: My Journey So Far

I carried out a survey recently and found out that I had not really carried people along in my journey as intended with this podcast. The aim for creating content for me is to inspire people with my story, my wins and losses in my journey as a creative and female executive in the entertainment industry in Lagos. Basically carry people along in my journey and whilst I understand that I've not done an excellent job, i decided to record this catch-up episode for you guys. Feel free to listen, share and tell me what you think.

MAGNATE SESSIONS: Rape In Marriage

Play Episode Listen Later Apr 5, 2020 19:59

I posted something on my whatsapp status a while back on my whatsapp status about how marriage isnt a good enough premise for rape and it got a lot of negative reactions mostly from some men trying to exert their rights over women they intend to marry(mostly single men who I will not be introducing or matchmaking with any of my friends) "Why should she refuse me in the first place" "the word rape should not be used in marriage" "it's better that it's her ooo, she should be happy that I still love her enough to discipline her"(contact blocked and deleted from ma life) "what reason does she have" The mere fact that these comments popped up even scared me and I almost started doubting myself so i went into research and decided to record and publish this episode. This wasnt what i had in mind initially but oh well plans change. Please listen and let me know what you think.

For years, i nursed and believed in the notion that the only way to succeed in this nation in a male dominated industry was to act out as a tomboy, you know become one of the boys. I never believed in feminine strength until recently and that sent me down a stair of mind boggling questions like why females were not allowed to lead. Why did it seem awkward to me to actually have majority of leadership positions filled in by women. What is so wrong with the feminist ideaology . What is wrong with the concept of girlpower? Feel free to listen guys and let me know what you think.

Moving to Lagos has been an exhilarating experience for me. Though different, it taught me a lot about life, career, love and fun in general. I have seen the good, the bad and the ugly and even after spending close to two years here, it is safe to still say that I know nothing about this city. However, I've been able to pen down some tips and general facts about lagos. Have fun listening and let me know what you think.

Who am I? Most times we tend to answer that particular question with surface answers. Answers pertaining to our jobs, success, achievements and goals. Our minds are constantly crowded by suggestions by every living soul in the society on who we should be. Have you taken out time to reflect on yourself recently. Who are you really? On this episode, I talk about the need for self discovery and reinvention. ENJOY!!!

WHAT MEN WANT ft enimz

So i was deeply bugged and disturbed by the story I heard from a lady who just got jilted. Apparently her fiance jilted her and went on to marry her coursemate after she had done practically everything for him and that made me inquisitive. From the waist trainers to the make up to the fake body parts, we as ladies go through a lot just to please the men in our lives but it seems like it's not enough. WHAT DO MEN REALLY WANT?

Eko Musings: #SLAYQUEEN

According to the urban dictionary: Slay queens are girls who do not have a wealthy background but appear as if they do. They use malicious acts to attain cash, drink expensive alcohol, procure expensive cellphones. We have "slayqueens" that are usually celebrated for the wrong reasons(skin, shape, makeup etc) But what if we can change the narrative of what this truely means and celebrate the true queens of our society. The women making impact and tremendous progress in the industry and their various communities. My definition of a slay queen? A lady making great impact in her society with her resilience and belief, A lady who channels her value positively onto the lives of others and affects lives in her immediate environment. For me, that is a proper slay queen. What's your definition of a slay queen?

THE OLD ME The old me would wake up day in day out without goals or things to achieve She was less interested and excited about the journey and more excited about her dream/destination Her voice was the loudest in the middle of serenity She was a time bomb waiting to explode She was a shadow of who she was meant to be. Wide awake at 2 am, i sat and thought about how far i've come. From a girl who hated her body to a lady who's starting a movement, A lady who is so proud of her journey and her story. she wears it like a badge. Truthfully at first i had woken up angry, one of my colleagues did something that upset me deeply but then i made a conscious decision to move on and forget about the incidence and i was super proud of myself for always trying to think about my emotional well being and put it first before anything. i'm finally puting myself first. In this podcast, i talk about my journey to self love and happiness. I hope it inspires you
