Interested in a career in biological research or clinical medicine? Want more perspective about what it's about? My guest today is able to help with that. For our first episode, I chat with Jose Ek-Vitorin, MD/PhD. Dr. Ek-Vitorin is a research assistant professor in the Department of Physiology at the University of Arizona. He shares with us the story about his path through medicine and research. Topics include reflections on his clinical experiences, how he pursued a PhD, his research interests (gap junctions), and what physiology means to him. Our conversation also ventures a little bit into the philosophy of science.
