"The Murdered Cousin" (1838) is the original 'locked room mystery' and a fascinating way to look at gender power relations in the 19th century. It's got elements of Gothic and also of Detective/Mystery Fiction, this classic tale of terror may well be as relevant today as it was all the way back then.
