A podcast about race: asking questions and contributing to the current dialogue.
In this episode, we talk about systemic racism and what that means (25:08). We then talk about the New York Yankees taking a knee to start the season! (25:10)
In episode 3 of the podcast, Josh and I talk about the n-word, and why it offensive for people outside of the Black community to use that word {Outside of the obvious, that it is degrading, racist, and was used by slave masters} (:08 - 15:39), Splash Mountain's change of name/Disney movies/tv-shows (15:40), and we conclude the podcast with talking about the confederate flag (25:16). DISCLAIMER: This episode we broached a very controversial topic (the n-word), and this was not an easy thing to talk about. As always, our goal is to have an open conversation about very real issues and bring greater understanding to these issues to help educate others and eliminate racism.
In our second episode, Josh and I talk about Juneteenth (:10 - 12:43) and why it is such a big deal for the black community. We then talk about Cancel Culture (12:44), with the cancellation of Cops and Live PD (RIP Dan Abraham's pink polos and Tom Morrison's never-ending supply of camo) and we end the episode with a little pop culture, discussing the new Bachelor (who is black!!), Matt James (21:24).
In our first podcast, Josh and I talk about his new website, www.yourblackvotematters.com, questions I have as a white person, #blacklivesmatter, why saying all lives matter is offensive to the movement, and how to use our voice and spark change in this incredibly important time in our history. www.yourblackvotematters.com
