This podcast is a humble attempt to have a conversation around intimate topics like mental issues, politics and spirituality without any filter. Saying the truth and things the way they are is the ultimate form of practicing the existence, in my opinion. We should not be afraid of our identities! Mo…
In this episode, I talked about breath therapy with Annette and how it can be used as a tool to heal our traumas. The conversation had some esoteric/spiritual vibe so I invite you to be open minded and just take what resonates. This is part2 of my conversation with Marijn about trauma and alternative approaches to mental health. In this episode, we talked about the polyvagal theory, which is a revolutionary way to understand our feelings and why we feel a certain way. Moreover, The polyvagal provides practical tools to shift our emotional states from total collapse to safety and engagement. Very short explanation by Deb Dana about The Polyvagal Theory https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JXGy7M4kvaY Dr. Porges himself about his developed theory https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ec3AUMDjtKQ&t=162s This book will help you with practical exercises to shift your nervous system https://www.amazon.com/Polyvagal-Exercises-Safety-Connection-Client-Centered-Practices/dp/0393713857
I haven't recorded any podcasts for months now due to my own struggle with my mental health, and on the road of finding answers and recovery, I met Marijn. She is a trauma therapist and specialised in a method called Somatic Experiencing. We had a wonderful conversation around mental health, what is trauma, prevention from trauma, and how SE can help with releasing the energies that are locked inside our bodies. Hope you enjoy this and learn something that can be useful to you. You can contact Marijn through: www.marijnschrieken.nl (not yet in english… but it will be soon!) info@marijnschriekene.nl General info: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9hP2KJ3UgDI Nice video from Peter Levine how he went through his shock-trauma https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AZwMC66-sBM&t=106s Short introduction by Peter Levine about SE https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nmJDkzDMllc&t=3s Great longer movie about how SE works with clips from nature and a demonstration with a veteran. Very impressive! https://www.somaticexperiencing.com/somatic-experiencing Site from Peter Levine including a list with some international practitioners https://www.bodymindopleidingen.nl/docenten-therapeuten/ List of practitioners in the Netherlands.
On this episode, I had the pleasure to talk with Nonodrama about her alter ego and why she struggles to share her nude work publicly while having an office job. We talked also about why she is a proud slut. Our conversation took us to many hidden places around sex, stigma, and fetishes.
Our friendship started in a refugee camp in the Netherlands 5 years ago. We have been assaulted by other refugees after being caught kissing each other and then we were escorted by the security and separated. After 5 years from that incident, I invited Marxus to talk about this story and then take it as a starting point to discuss gender, sexuality, and human behaviour and understanding around this topic. We acknowledge that our scientific understanding is limited, so we do not assume that anything being said on this episode is the truth, but rather it is an attempt to have a dialogue and honest communication to seek more insight from each other and hopefully spark some ideas in your mind. Hope you enjoy it :)
In this episode, I welcome Razan, a Syrian director that came to The Netherlands as a refugee couple of years ago. Even though we shared a similar story, hearing certain things from a female perspective was refreshing and informative to say the least. We talked about feminism in Europe and Razan wanted to add that she doesn’t mean to underestimate the issue, but rather comparing it to the rights that Arabic females are fighting for, where after this comparison life here feels so luxurious. Our conversation was full of laughs and memories. Hope you will enjoy this :)
What is it to be without our memory? Without our thoughts and emotions? What is left there? Will try to answer some of these questions in this episode with Thomas, please follow him if you are interested to stay in touch with him on IG: @thomasvpgram
The journey to Europe was a rebirth event for me, everything I have known including myself have changed since then. It was an intense and challenging journey, but also filled with lessons and hopes.
In this episode we discuss many topics like anger, consciousness, death, social media and many more in a spiritual frame.
A small introduction about the content and the structure of the show.
