My rise to success was the most purpose-driven accident anyone can imagine. There will be no talk here of advanced business practices, tools, formal education, multi-national corporations, and private equity dealings. Those topics are for another day. The business at hand is how lessons learned in an independent garden center - a family owned and operated business - would equip me with everything I needed to take on and slay the largest giants. After much time invested in the process of writing several “know it all” books, trying to tell the world how to build a better mousetrap, I have decided to write about where my passion started. The principles of success; not the how. These are my Nursery Lessons.
We can’t totally throw out the old to bring in the new. We can create “attractive” but to have longevity we must have perseverance, wisdom, and a desire to learn. Adding the new to the old will produce a more healthy future. If you “cancel” the old you cancel history...and you will lose resiliency.
Struggles can seem to be never-ending. The year 2020 is the poster child for this. If you "grew" the right way you can withstand, overcome, and even thrive when these challenges come your way.
What are you willing to give to help others grow.
Don’t allow people or things to pull you down or distract you. Remove suckers from your life and find ways to pass down your wisdom to the next generation.
Isn't it crazy that sometimes we have to remove parts of our lives to reach our maximum potential. the process of growth is not usually welcome but the results are mostly favorable. Focus on the results of growth to make the process more enjoyable.
Do you communicate effectively? Are you and your spouse synced up? Do you coworkers or employees engage you? Talking with someone engages people, builds relationships, and creates understanding.
Sometimes weeds can hide in plain sight. If things look good do we sometimes overlook that they may actually be hampering our progress?
Why do the most simple decisions seem to take the most energy to make? Seek wisdom of others to bridge the gap between what you know and what you need to know.
When mentoring others we should talk about our journey and not our accomplishments. Trophies are fun to look at but don't provide any insight into the process.
This introduction episode is to share the "why" for the Nursery Lessons podcast. You will be introduced to the concept and the background for Nursery Lessons. We hope this provides you with enough of a reason to give us a chance to take up your precious time weekly.
