In this raw and urgent episode, Ryan and Selena respond directly to a viral clip from Dr. Emerson Eggerichs (Love & Respect) where he calls out wives who “continually mock their husbands,” put them down mentally, and secretly make fun of their opinions. If you've ever caught yourself thinking, “He's just not the man I thought I married” … this episode is for you.We dive deep into:The devastating long-term fruit of a disrespectful speech and a critical spirit (Prov 21:19, Prov 27:15)Why even “small” condescending comments, eye-rolls, and corrections are spiritual poisonGenesis 1–2 and Ephesians 5:22–33 – God's original design for husbands to WORK and wives to RESPECTThe moment a wife stops seeing her husband “in his element,” her view of him becomes dangerously incompleteThe 4 C's every wife must confront: What are you Consuming? Who are you Consulting? Who are you Complaining to? It's time to CUT it out.The 200-year plan: How today's sarcasm and discontent become tomorrow's bitterness, affairs, or divorcePractical steps to break the cycle: Repent to God → Repent to your husband → Replace criticism with gratitude → Renew your mind daily (Romans 12:2)Husbands: this isn't permission to be passive. A wife's biblical respect flows most naturally when her husband loves her as Christ loves the church. We talk about that too.Whether you're the wife struggling with disrespect or the husband feeling crushed under constant criticism—this episode will challenge and encourage you toward the fierce, gospel-centered marriage you both long for.Scriptures covered: Genesis 1–2, Ephesians 5:22–33, Proverbs 21:19, Proverbs 27:15–16, Romans 12:1–2Resources mentioned: → Join the Fierce Men brotherhood (YouTube + private community)→ Fierce Fellows on Patreon – exclusive marriage content→ Partner with Fierce Marriage: https://fiercemarriage.com/partnerIf this episode hit home, text it to a friend who needs it. The Christmas Tree Lot, the Steak, and Why the Hard Part Is What Makes It Worth It In this episode, Doc Danny Matta shares a story about a Christmas tree lot in Columbus, Georgia, the best steak he's ever eaten, and how hard work—and the struggle that comes with it—makes success and reward deeply meaningful. He connects that experience to clinic ownership, growth, and why building a successful cash practice is supposed to be hard. Quick Ask If this episode helps you reframe the hard parts of business, share it with another clinician who's grinding through a tough season—and tag @dannymattaPT so he can reshare it. Episode Summary Documentation pain: The #1 complaint on satisfaction surveys is clinicians hating to write notes. Clair AI scribe: Clair has been trained specifically for PTs to write high-quality notes, like a meticulous student in the corner capturing everything. Time freedom: Using Clair allows clinicians to reclaim hours of documentation time and spend it with family, hobbies, or simply resting. Danny's background: Staff PT, active duty military PT, cash practice founder, seller, and founder of PT Biz, helping 1,000+ clinicians build cash practices. The Christmas tree lot job: As a teenager in Columbus, GA, Danny and his brother took a sketchy, hard manual-labor job at a Christmas tree lot near Fort Benning. Uncertain payoff: The owner warned them they'd only get paid if they worked hard—and not until the end of the season. Hard work in the cold: Long days hauling trees, sawing, tying them to cars, all while smelling Texas Roadhouse across the street they couldn't yet afford. Finally getting paid: On the last day, the owner pulled out a wad of cash, paid them what he owed, and even gave them a bonus for working hard. The greatest steak ever: They walked across the street to Texas Roadhouse, ordered the most expensive steak, and it remains the best steak Danny's ever had—because of what it represented. Meaning through struggle: The steak wasn't special because of the restaurant; it was special because of the work it took to earn it. Business parallel: The hard parts of clinic ownership—slow growth, cash stress, buildouts, staffing—are what make the wins meaningful. Normalizing struggle: Building a successful clinic that changes your life and your family's life should not be easy. Celebrate wins: Most entrepreneurs power past achievements without celebrating; Danny argues you need to mark the "steak moments." Reframing frustration: Instead of "Why is this so hard?" shift to "It's supposed to be hard—and that's why it will feel incredible when it works." Lessons & Takeaways Hard work makes reward meaningful: Wins feel better when they're earned through discomfort, sacrifice, and persistence. You need contrast: Without the "shitty stuff," victories don't stand out—you need struggle to appreciate success. Business is not meant to be easy: A clinic that creates time and financial freedom will demand hard things from you. Struggle is not a sign you're failing: It's a sign you're doing something significant and transformative. School and business are similar: Graduation and growth feel good precisely because the journey is challenging. Positive reinforcement matters: Celebrating wins keeps you moving through the next tough stretch. Mindset & Motivation Embrace the hard: Instead of resenting the grind, accept that it's the price of a different life. You're not broken: Being tired, stretched, and challenged doesn't mean you picked the wrong path. Remember what's at stake: A successful clinic can change your family's finances, your time, and your identity. Reframe the question: Move from "Why is this so hard?" to "Who am I becoming because I'm doing hard things?" Use the steak moment: Have a tangible reward in mind—your version of Texas Roadhouse—to look forward to after big milestones. Pro Tips for Clinic Owners Automate documentation: Use Clair to remove hours of note writing and free up time for life outside the clinic. Define your "steak": Choose a specific reward (trip, dinner, purchase) you'll give yourself after a big business milestone. Track your wins: Keep a running list of milestones reached so you can look back and see your progress. Expect friction: When something feels hard, remind yourself: "This is exactly what I signed up for." Build celebration into your plan: Schedule a pause to celebrate when you hit revenue, hire, or space goals. Notable Quotes "If you don't have the shitty stuff, then it doesn't feel very good whenever you get the good stuff." "Why would something that changes your life be easy?" "Anything meaningful—like a successful clinic—should be hard." "If you can just reframe from 'Why is this hard?' to 'This is supposed to be hard,' it changes everything." "The hard part is what makes the win feel like the greatest steak you've ever had." Action Items Identify one current "hard thing" in your business and consciously reframe it as part of what makes your future success meaningful. Pick a specific reward you'll give yourself when you hit your next major milestone. Write down three big wins you've already earned and how hard you worked for them. Consider trying Clair for a 7-day free trial to reclaim documentation time. Share this story with a spouse, partner, or friend so they understand why you're pushing through the hard season. Have you ever looked in the mirror and felt stuck with your own body—in a similar way you’ve felt stuck with alcohol? That exhausting push-pull. The promises. The shame. The “why do I keep doing this?” on repeat. If that sounds familiar, this conversation is for you. For the woman who’s tried willpower, plans, promises, and prayers—yet still feels stuck in the cycle of body image battles, emotional eating, and quiet self-criticism. Friend, you are not alone. And you are not broken. Leanne joins us to share her powerful story of moving from food addiction and shame to true healing—rooted in both neuroscience and the unshakable love of God. What once felt like a personal failure of discipline became a holy revelation: real change happens when we understand our nervous system, renew our minds, and invite God into the process with us. In this episode, we talk honestly about how self-image shapes our choices, why “knowing better” isn’t the same as healing, and how faith and neuroscience beautifully work together to bring lasting freedom. Just like with alcohol, you’ll hear how the breakthrough didn’t come from trying harder—but from partnering with God differently. You’ll also hear how Leanne learned to separate who she is from what she struggled with—and how that shift opened the door to peace, empowerment, and a new identity grounded in Christ. If you’ve ever wondered why you keep doing the very thing you swore you wouldn’t—whether with food, alcohol, or anything else—this episode will remind you: you’re not failing—you’re in formation. And God isn’t standing at a distance. He’s right in the middle of your becoming.

Welcome to another episode of the Sustainable Clinical Medicine Podcast! In this podcast episode #150 we shine a light on the real experiences of early-career medical professionals and listening to the voices of junior doctors. I'm your host, Dr. Sarah Smith, and today we're joined by Victoria Lister—researcher, workplace coach, and passionate advocate for change in healthcare. Diving into the hidden struggles junior doctors face: the culture of silence, the impact of discrimination and burnout, and the critical importance of psychological safety at work. Victoria shares her research and personal insights on why so many doctors feel unable to speak up, and what leaders and colleagues can do to create safer, more supportive environments. Whether you're a medical professional, a student, or simply interested in the future of healthcare, this conversation is packed with eye-opening stories and practical advice. Let's get started! Here are 3 key takeaways from this episode: The Culture of Silence in Medicine: Junior doctors often feel unable to speak up about their working conditions due to fear of retaliation, career setbacks, and entrenched hierarchies. This silence can have serious consequences for both staff wellbeing and patient safety. Psychological Safety is Essential: Creating environments where junior doctors feel safe to voice concerns is crucial. Leadership that listens, acts, and genuinely supports staff can transform toxic workplaces into supportive, high-performing teams. Discrimination and Burnout are Widespread: Issues like bullying, harassment, and discrimination—based on gender, race, or background—are still prevalent in medical training. Addressing these challenges requires systemic change, open conversations, and collective action to ensure a healthier future for all healthcare professionals. Meet Victoria Lister: Victoria Lister is a researcher in the Business School at Griffith University in Brisbane, Australia. Her PhD research investigates junior doctors' working conditions silences and how the medical profession acts as a barrier to voice. To support junior doctors, Victoria trained as a workplace coach and is currently researching and delivering a ‘coaching for communication' program for emergency medicine clinicians. She also works on other research projects in the medical context; has consulted on a healthcare workforce wellbeing initiative and a cultural change program designed to address bullying, harassment and discrimination in medicine; and has published on these themes. For many first responders and military members, transition is not a clean break, it's an identity crisis. In this episode, former San Diego Police Officer Kristi Miedecke opens up about the hardest fight she ever faced. It didn't happen in uniform, it happened at home.Kristi grew up in a law enforcement family, earned her badge with grit, and loved the job. But when she became a mother while married to another cop, the math stopped working. Two young kids, opposite shifts, no real sleep, and a quiet question started chasing her. Can you be fully present for your family and still be fully committed to the badge. Kristi made the choice to leave the department, but she didn't expect the silence that followed. No radio traffic, no partners, no roll calls, and no identity. That silence led to postpartum depression, anxiety, isolation, and the painful admission that she felt like she didn't know who she was anymore. What followed is powerful. Therapy. Grad school. Discovery of jiu jitsu as a form of grounding and healing. The creation of Gates to Healing, an equine therapy program built for first responders and military veterans fighting trauma, anxiety, and loss of identity. Kristi didn't just rebuild her life. Sonia Fraher, head of cash management at Vanguard says that while nearly three-quarters of Americans say they will fall short of their saving and spending resolutions for this year, most are optimistic that they can pull off a "resolution rebound" in 2026. Vanguard's survey research showed that 84 percent of Americans expect to make a financial resolution for 2026, with building the emergency fund being the most common goal. In honor of the holidays, David Trainer of New Constructs revisits the Damger Zone pick he is most thankful for this year, due to its success as a short pick.  Rob Williams, managing director of financial planning for Charles Schwab, discusses the firm's research showing that two-thirds of Americans believe they must look beyond traditional investment products like stocks and bonds to further diversify and succeed in today's market. More than 40 percent think the classic 60/40 portfolio is outdated. Plus, Jake Cousineau, author of "Face Your Financial Fears: The Simple Guide to Fixing Your Relationship with Money," discusses how Americans grow up surrounded by money misconceptions that they must overcome to reach their goals.

What’s been making you doubt yourself lately? What do you think triggered that feeling? Today, Jay welcomes back his friend Roxie Nafousi to unpack what confidence actually looks and feels like, not the glossy, loud, performative version, but the quiet inner knowing that you are enough as you are. They start by breaking down how much of our insecurity comes from the stories we tell ourselves: the overthinking before we walk into a room, the mental replay after we walk out, and the way we let validation, or the lack of it, shape our worth. Roxie then opens up about something she’s never shared publicly: her long struggle with body dysmorphic disorder. She talks honestly about the thoughts that dominated her life, the fear of being seen, and the belief that changing her appearance would quiet the constant self-criticism. Jay meets her with compassion as they unpack how these patterns form, how they shape the way you move through the world, and how healing begins with learning to speak to yourself with empathy instead of judgment. Jay and Roxie offer a roadmap that anyone can follow: mastering your inner voice, letting go of the pressure to be liked by everyone, celebrating the small wins, and choosing to show up as the version of yourself your higher self would be proud of. In this interview, you'll learn: How to Redefine Confidence From the Inside Out How to Stop Seeking External Validation How to Manage Comparison Before It Controls You How to Think Like Your Higher Self How to Break Free From People-Pleasing How to Handle Rejection Without Blaming Yourself How to Replace Self-Criticism With Self-Awareness When you start choosing compassion over judgment, intention over fear, and growth over perfection, you slowly reconnect with the part of yourself that’s always been there. The journey isn’t about becoming someone new, it’s about finally seeing who you’ve been all along. Can confronting ourselves be the key to transformation? In this episode, Zvi Hirschfield and Rabbi Dr. Tal Sessler explore Parshat Vayishlach as a story of identity, fear, and the lifelong struggle to integrate competing parts of the self. They examine Yaakov as the Torah's first refugee, his preparation to meet Esav through prayer, gifts, and readiness for war, and his mysterious night battle—an internal confrontation that leads to the name Yisrael. Through psychological, philosophical, and modern Jewish lenses, they reflect on what it means to live in tension and still keep growing.

2025-11-30 | DAILY UPDATES #069 | The civil war has broken out in Russia – but not the one you perhaps imagined. It's a weird civil war between objectionable characters – one happening inside the pro-war camp. Z-Patriots and propagandists are turning on each other. The Z-patriots, “turbo-patriots,” Telegram war-bloggers and Kremlin talking heads who cheered on the invasion… are now denouncing, arresting and in some cases literally killing each other. Foreign-agent lists. “Terrorist” labels. Extremism charges. Car bombs, gunshots on occupied territory, and Chechen generals promising that troublesome bloggers will be “destroyed legally”. They also hint at illegal methods. But is ‘law' a redundant concept in Russia, in any case – where strength, status, brutality and connections define everything. This isn't dissent versus the regime. This is the regime's own shock-troops turning their knives inward – and the minions of the security state happily twisting the blade. Pep's side left it late with a last-minute Foden winner, but are they truly convincing? Carl finds their style this season fun to watch, yet a bit too chaotic to win the title.Next, we turn to Spurs' defeat to Fulham — their third loss of the week — and the boos told the story, as fans watched a side that has won only once at home all season. We then look at Liverpool, who have lost nine of their last twelve, and ask how realistic it is that the club makes a change with Arne Slot?Next, we move to The Ashes. With the second Test starting on Thursday, we speak to Adam Collins about how the Australian press views England's inconsistency — and what they must do to avoid falling 2–0 behind. Finally, we turn to the Premier League title race with Chelsea vs Arsenal. The Christmas story is filled with wonder, but it is also filled with real people who struggled to believe what God was doing around them. In Luke 1 we meet Zechariah and Elizabeth, a faithful couple who had no idea how their long season of waiting would become part of God's plan to bring the Savior into the world. Zechariah wrestled with doubt when an angel announced that their prayers would be answered and that their child would prepare the way for Jesus. His silence became a sacred space where God taught him what he could not learn in the noise. Their waiting showed that God is always working on more than we can see, even when the timing feels confusing. Their story reminds us that doubt does not disqualify us and that nothing is impossible with God. Mary believed because of the story of Zechariah and Elizabeth, and you can too. You can believe for it today. (11/30/2025)
