Streams of Verse

This is the same narrative as my previous non-instrumental version of Horse/Hoarse. I added the music to create a little more feeling, a little melodrama. It is definitely one of my favorite pieces to re-read and listen to. How can you not love a car that talks to the moon while a cat occasionally sings? It is an automotive, lunar, feline self-help story about finding your identity by doing what you need to do without waiting for the push (or the turn of the key) from others. Will you always succeed? A Song A Question is about loss. More specifically, it is about how loss can confuse us, damage us, and leave us talking to ourselves. It is a very special piece for me because it was one of the first pieces I read at Mickey's Gyros, the local joint for my small college town's every-last-Friday-of-the-month open mic nights. Battered has a special place in my heart. In this piece, the sea, the sky, the wilderness, and the animals talk to me. They are hurting, they are sad, and they are angry. This was written while I was living and working as an English teacher in Gunsan, South Korea. One of my favorite things to do at that time was to take long walks alone through the city. I would just explore any street or alley I felt I needed to. One time I ended up at an old ship yard for fishing boats. I wrote this while I was there. I welcome any and all comments. This piece describes a drug deal. It was one, I will admit, that I took part in while I was traveling in Cocha Bamba, Bolivia. My friend and I bought some pot from a nicely dressed woman at McDonalds. I welcome any and all comments.
