Having moved 30 miles away from his hometown to escape the fear of being assaulted, in Episode 5, Kris describes what it was like when he heard Jacob Wetterling was taken in a similar manner that his friend had been attacked, and he targeted just two years earlier. Kris describes reporting the attacks to law enforcement with 48 hours of Jacob's abduction, but how the case wasn't solved for 27 years.

The same perpetrator who would go on to kidnap and assault another boy in a neighboring town, and abduct, assault, and murder Jacob Wetterling-a cold case that would remain unsolved for 27 years.
