The Master Science of Instructional Technology program candidates are required to create instructional animation when they take the Multimedia Authoring course. This channel collects their sample projects in using animation to facilitate K-12 students' learning in Social Studies.

The video shows the journey of a pioneer that traveled west on the Oregon Trail. Along the way the pioneer travels through the different regions and seasons and stops at trading posts along the way. This video is intended for students that are in grades 2-7. Standards: NYS Standard 1 Key Idea 3
In the video, the practice of creating an altar and the parade to the cemeteries are highlighted. These two customs are very common in the Mexican culture during Dia de los Muertos, which occurs from October 31st to November 2nd. On the altar, people place candles, marigolds, a photo of the deceased, and food. Then, there are parades that lead to the cemeteries where people celebrate the lives of those who have passed on. The intended audience is a Spanish 1 course, which is usually comprised of 9th and 10th graders. The learning objective for this video is having students be able to compare customs and traditions related to the subject of death. The standard the video is aligned to is through the NYS Languages Other than English Standards: Standard 2-Students will develop cross-cultural skills and understandings.
